ਬਾਰਹ ਮਾਹਾ
Read Barah Maha Majh in Gurmukhi with English translation. Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s twelve-month hymn (Ang 133–136). Guru Arjan’s Tukhari Barah Maha is linked, not mixed in.
Barah Maha (“twelve months”) is a form in which each month of the year becomes a verse of longing for the Divine. Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji has two: Guru Nanak Dev Ji in Raag Majh (Ang 133–136), and Guru Arjan Dev Ji in Raag Tukhari (Ang 1107–1117). This page is the Majh composition (BaniDB id 27). The Tukhari text is on the ang reader.
Often read on Sangrand, the first day of each Nanakshahi month, and as a chosen path through the year. It is not a required daily nitnem bani.
Each month names a season of the soul — separation and union — rather than a weather almanac. Local gurdwaras set their own Sangrand diwan times; this site does not invent those.
