ਗੁਰਿ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਅਵਖਧੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਨਾ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਕਟ ਜੋਨਿ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥੫॥੨॥
gur ma(n)tr avakhadh naam dheenaa jan naanak sa(n)kaT jon na pai ||5||2||
One who is blessed with the medicine of the GurMantra, the Name of the Lord, O servant Nanak, does not suffer the agonies of reincarnation. ||5||2||
ਰੇ ਨਰ ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਰਾਇ ॥
re nar in bidh paar parai ||
O man, in this way, you shall cross over to the other side.
ਧਿਆਇ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਹੋਇ ਮਿਰਤਕੁ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੨॥੧੧॥
dhiaai har jeeau hoi mritak tiaag dhoojaa bhaau || rahaau dhoojaa ||2||11||
Meditate on your Dear Lord, and be dead to the world; renounce your love of duality. ||Second Pause||2||11||

Maaroo, Fifth Mehla:
ਬਾਹਰਿ ਢੂਢਨ ਤੇ ਛੂਟਿ ਪਰੇ ਗੁਰਿ ਘਰ ਹੀ ਮਾਹਿ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ਥਾ ॥
baahar ddooddan te chhooT pare gur ghar hee maeh dhikhaiaa thaa ||
I have quit searching outside; the Guru has shown me that God is within the home of my own heart.
ਅਨਭਉ ਅਚਰਜ ਰੂਪੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪੇਖਿਆ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਨ ਕਤਹੂ ਜਾਇਆ ਥਾ ॥੧॥
anabhau acharaj roop prabh pekhiaa meraa man chhodd na katahoo jaiaa thaa ||1||
I have seen God, fearless, of wondrous beauty; my mind shall never leave Him to go anywhere else. ||1||
ਮਾਨਕੁ ਪਾਇਓ ਰੇ ਪਾਇਓ ਹਰਿ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਆ ਥਾ ॥
maanak paio re paio har pooraa paiaa thaa ||
I have found the jewel; I have found the Perfect Lord.
ਮੋਲਿ ਅਮੋਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਈ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਿਵਾਇਆ ਥਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
mol amol na paiaa jaiee kar kirapaa guroo dhivaiaa thaa ||1|| rahaau ||
The invaluable value cannot be obtained; in His Mercy, the Guru bestows it. ||1||Pause||
ਅਦਿਸਟੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਅਕਥੁ ਕਥਾਇਆ ਥਾ ॥
adhisaT agochar paarabraham mil saadhoo akath kathaiaa thaa ||
The Supreme Lord God is imperceptible and unfathomable; meeting the Holy Saint, I speak the Unspoken Speech.
ਅਨਹਦ ਸਬਦੁ ਦਸਮ ਦੁਆਰਿ ਵਜਿਓ ਤਹ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਚੁਆਇਆ ਥਾ ॥੨॥
anahadh sabadh dhasam dhuaar vajio teh a(n)mirat naam chuaaiaa thaa ||2||
The unstruck sound current of the Shabad vibrates and resounds in the Tenth Gate; the Ambrosial Naam trickles down there. ||2||
ਤੋਟਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਮਨਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਬੂਝੀ ਅਖੁਟ ਭੰਡਾਰ ਸਮਾਇਆ ਥਾ ॥
toT naahee man tirasanaa boojhee akhuT bha(n)ddaar samaiaa thaa ||
I lack nothing; the thirsty desires of my mind are satisfied. The inexhaustible treasure has entered into my being.
ਚਰਣ ਚਰਣ ਚਰਣ ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਅਘੜੁ ਘੜਿਓ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਥਾ ॥੩॥
charan charan charan gur seve aghaR ghaRio ras paiaa thaa ||3||
I serve the feet, the feet, the feet of the Guru, and manage the unmanageable. I have found the juice, the sublime essence. ||3||
ਸਹਜੇ ਆਵਾ ਸਹਜੇ ਜਾਵਾ ਸਹਜੇ ਮਨੁ ਖੇਲਾਇਆ ਥਾ ॥
sahaje aavaa sahaje jaavaa sahaje man khelaiaa thaa ||
Intuitively I come, and intuively I go; my mind intuitively plays.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਰਮੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਖੋਇਆ ਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਮਹਲੀ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਥਾ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੨॥
kahu naanak bharam gur khoiaa taa har mahalee mahal paiaa thaa ||4||3||12||
Says Nanak, when the Guru drives out doubt, then the soul-bride enters the Mansion of the Lord's Presence. ||4||3||12||

ਜਿਸਹਿ ਸਾਜਿ ਨਿਵਾਜਿਆ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਸਿਉ ਰੁਚ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
jiseh saaj nivaajiaa tiseh siau ruch naeh ||
You feel no love for the One who created and embellished you.
ਆਨ ਰੂਤੀ ਆਨ ਬੋਈਐ ਫਲੁ ਨ ਫੂਲੈ ਤਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
aan rootee aan boieeaai fal na foolai taeh ||1||
The seed, planted out season, does not germinate; it does not produce flower or fruit. ||1||
ਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਤ੍ਰ ਬੀਜਣ ਨਾਉ ॥
re man vatr beejan naau ||
O mind, this is the time to plant the seed of the Name.
ਬੋਇ ਖੇਤੀ ਲਾਇ ਮਨੂਆ ਭਲੋ ਸਮਉ ਸੁਆਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
boi khetee lai manooaa bhalo samau suaau ||1|| rahaau ||
Focus your mind, and cultivate this crop; at the proper time, make this your purpose. ||1||Pause||
ਖੋਇ ਖਹੜਾ ਭਰਮੁ ਮਨ ਕਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਰਣੀ ਜਾਇ ॥
khoi khahaRaa bharam man kaa satigur saranee jai ||
Eradicate the stubbornness and doubt of your mind, and go to the Sanctuary of the True Guru.
ਕਰਮੁ ਜਿਸ ਕਉ ਧੁਰਹੁ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਸੋਈ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਇ ॥੨॥
karam jis kau dhurahu likhiaa soiee kaar kamai ||2||
He alone does such deeds, who has such pre-ordained karma. ||2||
ਭਾਉ ਲਾਗਾ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਸਿਉ ਘਾਲ ਪਾਈ ਥਾਇ ॥
bhaau laagaa gobidh siau ghaal paiee thai ||
He falls in love with the Lord of the Universe, and his efforts are approved.
ਖੇਤਿ ਮੇਰੈ ਜੰਮਿਆ ਨਿਖੁਟਿ ਨ ਕਬਹੂ ਜਾਇ ॥੩॥
khet merai ja(n)miaa nikhuT na kabahoo jai ||3||
My crop has germinated, and it shall never be used up. ||3||
ਪਾਇਆ ਅਮੋਲੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੋ ਛੋਡਿ ਨ ਕਤਹੂ ਜਾਇ ॥
paiaa amol padhaaratho chhodd na katahoo jai ||
I have obtained the priceless wealth, which shall never leave me or go anywhere else.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਰਹੇ ਆਘਾਇ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੩॥
kahu naanak sukh paiaa tirapat rahe aaghai ||4||4||13||
Says Nanak, I have found peace; I am satisfied and fulfilled. ||4||4||13||

ਫੂਟੋ ਆਂਡਾ ਭਰਮ ਕਾ ਮਨਹਿ ਭਇਓ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ॥
fooTo aa(n)ddaa bharam kaa maneh bhio paragaas ||
The egg of doubt has burst; my mind has been enlightened.
ਕਾਟੀ ਬੇਰੀ ਪਗਹ ਤੇ ਗੁਰਿ ਕੀਨੀ ਬੰਦਿ ਖਲਾਸੁ ॥੧॥
kaaTee beree pageh te gur keenee ba(n)dh khalaas ||1||
The Guru has shattered the shackles on my feet, and has set me free. ||1||
ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੁ ਰਹਿਓ ॥
aavan jaan rahio ||
My coming and going in reincarnation is ended.
ਤਪਤ ਕੜਾਹਾ ਬੁਝਿ ਗਇਆ ਗੁਰਿ ਸੀਤਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tapat kaRaahaa bujh giaa gur seetal naam dheeo ||1|| rahaau ||
The boiling cauldron has cooled down; the Guru has blessed me with the cooling, soothing Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਜਬ ਤੇ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗੁ ਭਇਆ ਤਉ ਛੋਡਿ ਗਏ ਨਿਗਹਾਰ ॥
jab te saadhoo sa(n)g bhiaa tau chhodd ge nigahaar ||
Since I joined the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, those who were eyeing me have left.
ਜਿਸ ਕੀ ਅਟਕ ਤਿਸ ਤੇ ਛੁਟੀ ਤਉ ਕਹਾ ਕਰੈ ਕੋਟਵਾਰ ॥੨॥
jis kee aTak tis te chhuTee tau kahaa karai koTavaar ||2||
The one who tied me up, has released me; what can the Watchman of Death do to me now? ||2||
ਚੂਕਾ ਭਾਰਾ ਕਰਮ ਕਾ ਹੋਏ ਨਿਹਕਰਮਾ ॥
chookaa bhaaraa karam kaa hoe nihakaramaa ||
The load of my karma has been removed, and I am now free of karma.
ਸਾਗਰ ਤੇ ਕੰਢੈ ਚੜੇ ਗੁਰਿ ਕੀਨੇ ਧਰਮਾ ॥੩॥
saagar te ka(n)ddai chaRe gur keene dharamaa ||3||
I have crossed the world-ocean, and reached the other shore; the Guru has blessed me with this Dharma. ||3||
ਸਚੁ ਥਾਨੁ ਸਚੁ ਬੈਠਕਾ ਸਚੁ ਸੁਆਉ ਬਣਾਇਆ ॥
sach thaan sach baiThakaa sach suaau banaiaa ||
True is my place, and True is my seat; I have made Truth my life's purpose.
ਸਚੁ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਸਚੁ ਵਖਰੋ ਨਾਨਕ ਘਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੫॥੧੪॥
sach poo(n)jee sach vakharo naanak ghar paiaa ||4||5||14||
True is my capital, and True is the merchandise, which Nanak has placed into the home of the heart. ||4||5||14||
