ਰਾਮੁ ਰਾਜਾ ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਮੇਰੈ ॥
raam raajaa nau nidh merai ||
The Sovereign Lord is the nine treasures for me.
ਸੰਪੈ ਹੇਤੁ ਕਲਤੁ ਧਨੁ ਤੇਰੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sa(n)pai het kalat dhan terai ||1|| rahaau ||
The possessions and the spouse to which the mortal is lovingly attached, are Your wealth, O Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਆਵਤ ਸੰਗ ਨ ਜਾਤ ਸੰਗਾਤੀ ॥
aavat sa(n)g na jaat sa(n)gaatee ||
They do not come with the mortal, and they do not go with him.
ਕਹਾ ਭਇਓ ਦਰਿ ਬਾਂਧੇ ਹਾਥੀ ॥੨॥
kahaa bhio dhar baa(n)dhe haathee ||2||
What good does it do him, if he has elephants tied up at his doorway? ||2||
ਲੰਕਾ ਗਢੁ ਸੋਨੇ ਕਾ ਭਇਆ ॥
la(n)kaa gadd sone kaa bhiaa ||
The fortress of Sri Lanka was made out of gold,
ਮੂਰਖੁ ਰਾਵਨੁ ਕਿਆ ਲੇ ਗਇਆ ॥੩॥
moorakh raavan kiaa le giaa ||3||
but what could the foolish Raawan take with him when he left? ||3||
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਕਿਛੁ ਗੁਨੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
keh kabeer kichh gun beechaar ||
Says Kabeer, think of doing some good deeds.
ਚਲੇ ਜੁਆਰੀ ਦੁਇ ਹਥ ਝਾਰਿ ॥੪॥੨॥
chale juaaree dhui hath jhaar ||4||2||
In the end, the gambler shall depart empty-handed. ||4||2||
ਮੈਲਾ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਮੈਲਾ ਇੰਦੁ ॥
mailaa brahamaa mailaa i(n)dh ||
Brahma is polluted, and Indra is polluted.
ਰਵਿ ਮੈਲਾ ਮੈਲਾ ਹੈ ਚੰਦੁ ॥੧॥
rav mailaa mailaa hai cha(n)dh ||1||
The sun is polluted, and the moon is polluted. ||1||
ਮੈਲਾ ਮਲਤਾ ਇਹੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
mailaa malataa ih sa(n)saar ||
This world is polluted with pollution.
ਇਕੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
eik har niramal jaa kaa a(n)t na paar ||1|| rahaau ||
Only the One Lord is Immaculate; He has no end or limitation. ||1||Pause||
ਮੈਲੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡਾਇ ਕੈ ਈਸ ॥
maile brahama(n)ddai kai iees ||
The rulers of kingdoms are polluted.
ਮੈਲੇ ਨਿਸਿ ਬਾਸੁਰ ਦਿਨ ਤੀਸ ॥੨॥
maile nis baasur dhin tees ||2||
Nights and days, and the days of the month are polluted. ||2||
ਮੈਲਾ ਮੋਤੀ ਮੈਲਾ ਹੀਰੁ ॥
mailaa motee mailaa heer ||
The pearl is polluted, the diamond is polluted.
ਮੈਲਾ ਪਉਨੁ ਪਾਵਕੁ ਅਰੁ ਨੀਰੁ ॥੩॥
mailaa paun paavak ar neer ||3||
Wind, fire and water are polluted. ||3||
ਮੈਲੇ ਸਿਵ ਸੰਕਰਾ ਮਹੇਸ ॥
maile siv sa(n)karaa mahes ||
Shiva, Shankara and Mahaysh are polluted.
ਮੈਲੇ ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਅਰੁ ਭੇਖ ॥੪॥
maile sidh saadhik ar bhekh ||4||
The Siddhas, seekers and strivers, and those who wear religious robes, are polluted. ||4||
ਮੈਲੇ ਜੋਗੀ ਜੰਗਮ ਜਟਾ ਸਹੇਤਿ ॥
maile jogee ja(n)gam jaTaa sahet ||
The Yogis and wandering hermits with their matted hair are polluted.
ਮੈਲੀ ਕਾਇਆ ਹੰਸ ਸਮੇਤਿ ॥੫॥
mailee kaiaa ha(n)s samet ||5||
The body, along with the swan-soul, is polluted. ||5||
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਪਰਵਾਨ ॥ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਤੇ ਜੋ ਰਾਮਹਿ ਜਾਨ ॥੬॥੩॥
keh kabeer te jan paravaan || niramal te jo raameh jaan ||6||3||
Says Kabeer, those humble beings are approved and pure, who know the Lord. ||6||3||
ਮਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਮਕਾ ਕਿਬਲਾ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਹੀ ॥
man kar makaa kibalaa kar dhehee ||
Let your mind be Mecca, and your body the temple of worship.
ਬੋਲਨਹਾਰੁ ਪਰਮ ਗੁਰੁ ਏਹੀ ॥੧॥
bolanahaar param gur ehee ||1||
Let the Supreme Guru be the One who speaks. ||1||
ਕਹੁ ਰੇ ਮੁਲਾਂ ਬਾਂਗ ਨਿਵਾਜ ॥
kahu re mulaa(n) baa(n)g nivaaj ||
O Mullah, utter the call to prayer.
ਏਕ ਮਸੀਤਿ ਦਸੈ ਦਰਵਾਜ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ek maseet dhasai dharavaaj ||1|| rahaau ||
The one mosque has ten doors. ||1||Pause||
ਮਿਸਿਮਿਲਿ ਤਾਮਸੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਕਦੂਰੀ ॥
misimil taamas bharam kadhooree ||
So slaughter your evil nature, doubt and cruelty;
ਭਾਖਿ ਲੇ ਪੰਚੈ ਹੋਇ ਸਬੂਰੀ ॥੨॥
bhaakh le pa(n)chai hoi sabooree ||2||
consume the five demons and you shall be blessed with contentment. ||2||
ਹਿੰਦੂ ਤੁਰਕ ਕਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਏਕ ॥
hi(n)dhoo turak kaa saahib ek ||
Hindus and Muslims have the same One Lord and Master.
ਕਹ ਕਰੈ ਮੁਲਾਂ ਕਹ ਕਰੈ ਸੇਖ ॥੩॥
keh karai mulaa(n) keh karai sekh ||3||
What can the Mullah do, and what can the Shaykh do? ||3||
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਹਉ ਭਇਆ ਦਿਵਾਨਾ ॥
keh kabeer hau bhiaa dhivaanaa ||
Says Kabeer, I have gone insane.
ਮੁਸਿ ਮੁਸਿ ਮਨੂਆ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਨਾ ॥੪॥੪॥
mus mus manooaa sahaj samaanaa ||4||4||
Slaughtering, slaughtering my mind, I have merged into the Celestial Lord. ||4||4||
ਗੰਗਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਲਿਤਾ ਬਿਗਰੀ ॥ ਸੋ ਸਲਿਤਾ ਗੰਗਾ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਬਰੀ ॥੧॥
ga(n)gaa kai sa(n)g salitaa bigaree || so salitaa ga(n)gaa hoi nibaree ||1||
When the stream flows into the Ganges, then it becomes the Ganges. ||1||
ਬਿਗਰਿਓ ਕਬੀਰਾ ਰਾਮ ਦੁਹਾਈ ॥
bigario kabeeraa raam dhuhaiee ||
Just so, Kabeer has changed.
ਸਾਚੁ ਭਇਓ ਅਨ ਕਤਹਿ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
saach bhio an kateh na jaiee ||1|| rahaau ||
He has become the Embodiment of Truth, and he does not go anywhere else. ||1||Pause||
ਚੰਦਨ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਤਰਵਰੁ ਬਿਗਰਿਓ ॥
cha(n)dhan kai sa(n)g taravar bigario ||
Associating with the sandalwood tree, the tree nearby is changed;
ਸੋ ਤਰਵਰੁ ਚੰਦਨੁ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਬਰਿਓ ॥੨॥
so taravar cha(n)dhan hoi nibario ||2||
that tree begins to smell just like the sandalwood tree. ||2||
ਪਾਰਸ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਤਾਂਬਾ ਬਿਗਰਿਓ ॥
paaras kai sa(n)g taa(n)baa bigario ||
Coming into contact with the philosophers' stone, copper is transformed;
ਸੋ ਤਾਂਬਾ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਬਰਿਓ ॥੩॥
so taa(n)baa ka(n)chan hoi nibario ||3||
that copper is transformed into gold. ||3||
ਸੰਤਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਬੀਰਾ ਬਿਗਰਿਓ ॥
sa(n)tan sa(n)g kabeeraa bigario ||
In the Society of the Saints, Kabeer is transformed;
ਸੋ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਰਾਮੈ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਬਰਿਓ ॥੪॥੫॥
so kabeer raamai hoi nibario ||4||5||
that Kabeer is transformed into the Lord. ||4||5||
ਮਾਥੇ ਤਿਲਕੁ ਹਥਿ ਮਾਲਾ ਬਾਨਾਂ ॥
maathe tilak hath maalaa baanaa(n) ||
Some apply ceremonial marks to their foreheads, hold malas in their hands, and wear religious robes.
ਲੋਗਨ ਰਾਮੁ ਖਿਲਉਨਾ ਜਾਨਾਂ ॥੧॥
logan raam khilaunaa jaanaa(n) ||1||
Some people think that the Lord is a play-thing. ||1||
ਜਉ ਹਉ ਬਉਰਾ ਤਉ ਰਾਮ ਤੋਰਾ ॥
jau hau bauraa tau raam toraa ||
If I am insane, then I am Yours, O Lord.
ਲੋਗੁ ਮਰਮੁ ਕਹ ਜਾਨੈ ਮੋਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
log maram keh jaanai moraa ||1|| rahaau ||
How can people know my secret? ||1||Pause||
ਤੋਰਉ ਨ ਪਾਤੀ ਪੂਜਉ ਨ ਦੇਵਾ ॥
torau na paatee poojau na dhevaa ||
I do not pick leaves as offerings, and I do not worship idols.
ਰਾਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਿਹਫਲ ਸੇਵਾ ॥੨॥
raam bhagat bin nihafal sevaa ||2||
Without devotional worship of the Lord, service is useless. ||2||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਜਉ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਮਨਾਵਉ ॥
satigur poojau sadhaa sadhaa manaavau ||
I worship the True Guru; forever and ever, I surrender to Him.
ਐਸੀ ਸੇਵ ਦਰਗਹ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਉ ॥੩॥
aaisee sev dharageh sukh paavau ||3||
By such service, I find peace in the Court of the Lord. ||3||
ਲੋਗੁ ਕਹੈ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਬਉਰਾਨਾ ॥
log kahai kabeer bauraanaa ||
People say that Kabeer has gone insane.
ਕਬੀਰ ਕਾ ਮਰਮੁ ਰਾਮ ਪਹਿਚਾਨਾਂ ॥੪॥੬॥
kabeer kaa maram raam pahichaanaa(n) ||4||6||
Only the Lord realizes the secret of Kabeer. ||4||6||
ਉਲਟਿ ਜਾਤਿ ਕੁਲ ਦੋਊ ਬਿਸਾਰੀ ॥
aulaT jaat kul dhouoo bisaaree ||
Turning away from the world, I have forgotten both my social class and ancestry.
ਸੁੰਨ ਸਹਜ ਮਹਿ ਬੁਨਤ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
su(n)n sahaj meh bunat hamaaree ||1||
My weaving now is in the most profound celestial stillness. ||1||
ਹਮਰਾ ਝਗਰਾ ਰਹਾ ਨ ਕੋਊ ॥
hamaraa jhagaraa rahaa na kouoo ||
I have no quarrel with anyone.
