ਪੰਡਿਤ ਮੁਲਾਂ ਛਾਡੇ ਦੋਊ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
pa(n)ddit mulaa(n) chhaadde dhouoo ||1|| rahaau ||
I have abandoned both the Pandits, the Hindu religious scholars, and the Mullahs, the Muslim priests. ||1||Pause||
ਬੁਨਿ ਬੁਨਿ ਆਪ ਆਪੁ ਪਹਿਰਾਵਉ ॥
bun bun aap aap pahiraavau ||
I weave and weave, and wear what I weave.
ਜਹ ਨਹੀ ਆਪੁ ਤਹਾ ਹੋਇ ਗਾਵਉ ॥੨॥
jeh nahee aap tahaa hoi gaavau ||2||
Where egotism does not exist, there I sing God's Praises. ||2||
ਪੰਡਿਤ ਮੁਲਾਂ ਜੋ ਲਿਖਿ ਦੀਆ ॥
pa(n)ddit mulaa(n) jo likh dheeaa ||
Whatever the Pandits and Mullahs have written,
ਛਾਡਿ ਚਲੇ ਹਮ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਲੀਆ ॥੩॥
chhaadd chale ham kachhoo na leeaa ||3||
I reject; I do not accept any of it. ||3||
ਰਿਦੈ ਇਖਲਾਸੁ ਨਿਰਖਿ ਲੇ ਮੀਰਾ ॥
ridhai ikhalaas nirakh le meeraa ||
My heart is pure, and so I have seen the Lord within.
ਆਪੁ ਖੋਜਿ ਖੋਜਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਕਬੀਰਾ ॥੪॥੭॥
aap khoj khoj mile kabeeraa ||4||7||
Searching, searching within the self, Kabeer has met the Lord. ||4||7||
ਨਿਰਧਨ ਆਦਰੁ ਕੋਈ ਨ ਦੇਇ ॥
niradhan aadhar koiee na dhei ||
No one respects the poor man.
ਲਾਖ ਜਤਨ ਕਰੈ ਓਹੁ ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਧਰੇਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
laakh jatan karai oh chit na dharei ||1|| rahaau ||
He may make thousands of efforts, but no one pays any attention to him. ||1||Pause||
ਜਉ ਨਿਰਧਨੁ ਸਰਧਨ ਕੈ ਜਾਇ ॥
jau niradhan saradhan kai jai ||
When the poor man goes to the rich man,
ਆਗੇ ਬੈਠਾ ਪੀਠਿ ਫਿਰਾਇ ॥੧॥
aage baiThaa peeTh firai ||1||
and sits right in front of him, the rich man turns his back on him. ||1||
ਜਉ ਸਰਧਨੁ ਨਿਰਧਨ ਕੈ ਜਾਇ ॥
jau saradhan niradhan kai jai ||
But when the rich man goes to the poor man,
ਦੀਆ ਆਦਰੁ ਲੀਆ ਬੁਲਾਇ ॥੨॥
dheeaa aadhar leeaa bulai ||2||
the poor man welcomes him with respect. ||2||
ਨਿਰਧਨੁ ਸਰਧਨੁ ਦੋਨਉ ਭਾਈ ॥
niradhan saradhan dhonau bhaiee ||
The poor man and the rich man are both brothers.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਕਲਾ ਨ ਮੇਟੀ ਜਾਈ ॥੩॥
prabh kee kalaa na meTee jaiee ||3||
God's pre-ordained plan cannot be erased. ||3||
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਨਿਰਧਨੁ ਹੈ ਸੋਈ ॥
keh kabeer niradhan hai soiee ||
Says Kabeer, he alone is poor,
ਜਾ ਕੇ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥੪॥੮॥
jaa ke hiradhai naam na hoiee ||4||8||
who does not have the Naam, the Name of the Lord, in his heart. ||4||8||
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਮਾਈ ॥
gur sevaa te bhagat kamaiee ||
Serving the Guru, devotional worship is practiced.
ਤਬ ਇਹ ਮਾਨਸ ਦੇਹੀ ਪਾਈ ॥
tab ieh maanas dhehee paiee ||
Then, this human body is obtained.
ਇਸ ਦੇਹੀ ਕਉ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਦੇਵ ॥
eis dhehee kau simareh dhev ||
Even the gods long for this human body.
ਸੋ ਦੇਹੀ ਭਜੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸੇਵ ॥੧॥
so dhehee bhaj har kee sev ||1||
So vibrate that human body, and think of serving the Lord. ||1||
ਭਜਹੁ ਗੋੁਬਿੰਦ ਭੂਲਿ ਮਤ ਜਾਹੁ ॥
bhajahu guobi(n)dh bhool mat jaahu ||
Vibrate, and meditate on the Lord of the Universe, and never forget Him.
ਮਾਨਸ ਜਨਮ ਕਾ ਏਹੀ ਲਾਹੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
maanas janam kaa ehee laahu ||1|| rahaau ||
This is the blessed opportunity of this human incarnation. ||1||Pause||
ਜਬ ਲਗੁ ਜਰਾ ਰੋਗੁ ਨਹੀ ਆਇਆ ॥
jab lag jaraa rog nahee aaiaa ||
As long as the disease of old age has not come to the body,
ਜਬ ਲਗੁ ਕਾਲਿ ਗ੍ਰਸੀ ਨਹੀ ਕਾਇਆ ॥
jab lag kaal grasee nahee kaiaa ||
and as long as death has not come and seized the body,
ਜਬ ਲਗੁ ਬਿਕਲ ਭਈ ਨਹੀ ਬਾਨੀ ॥
jab lag bikal bhiee nahee baanee ||
and as long as your voice has not lost its power,
ਭਜਿ ਲੇਹਿ ਰੇ ਮਨ ਸਾਰਿਗਪਾਨੀ ॥੨॥
bhaj leh re man saarigapaanee ||2||
O mortal being, vibrate and meditate on the Lord of the World. ||2||
ਅਬ ਨ ਭਜਸਿ ਭਜਸਿ ਕਬ ਭਾਈ ॥
ab na bhajas bhajas kab bhaiee ||
If you do not vibrate and meditate on Him now, when will you, O Sibing of Destiny?
ਆਵੈ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਭਜਿਆ ਜਾਈ ॥
aavai a(n)t na bhajiaa jaiee ||
When the end comes, you will not be able to vibrate and meditate on Him.
ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੋਈ ਅਬ ਸਾਰੁ ॥
jo kichh kareh soiee ab saar ||
Whatever you have to do - now is the best time to do it.
ਫਿਰਿ ਪਛੁਤਾਹੁ ਨ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਪਾਰੁ ॥੩॥
fir pachhutaahu na paavahu paar ||3||
Otherwise, you shall regret and repent afterwards, and you shall not be carried across to the other side. ||3||
ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਜੋ ਲਾਇਆ ਸੇਵ ॥
so sevak jo laiaa sev ||
He alone is a servant, whom the Lord enjoins to His service.
ਤਿਨ ਹੀ ਪਾਏ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਦੇਵ ॥
tin hee paae nira(n)jan dhev ||
He alone attains the Immaculate Divine Lord.
ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਖੁਲੑੇ ਕਪਾਟ ॥
gur mil taa ke khul(h)e kapaaT ||
Meeting with the Guru, his doors are opened wide,
ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਜੋਨੀ ਬਾਟ ॥੪॥
bahur na aavai jonee baaT ||4||
and he does not have to journey again on the path of reincarnation. ||4||
ਇਹੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਅਉਸਰੁ ਇਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਬਾਰ ॥
eihee teraa aausar ieh teree baar ||
This is your chance, and this is your time.
ਘਟ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਤੂ ਦੇਖੁ ਬਿਚਾਰਿ ॥
ghaT bheetar too dhekh bichaar ||
Look deep into your own heart, and reflect on this.
ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਜੀਤਿ ਕੈ ਹਾਰਿ ॥
kahat kabeer jeet kai haar ||
Says Kabeer, you can win or lose.
ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਕਹਿਓ ਪੁਕਾਰਿ ਪੁਕਾਰਿ ॥੫॥੧॥੯॥
bahu bidh kahio pukaar pukaar ||5||1||9||
In so many ways, I have proclaimed this out loud. ||5||1||9||
ਸਿਵ ਕੀ ਪੁਰੀ ਬਸੈ ਬੁਧਿ ਸਾਰੁ ॥
siv kee puree basai budh saar ||
In the City of God, sublime understanding prevails.
ਤਹ ਤੁਮੑ ਮਿਲਿ ਕੈ ਕਰਹੁ ਬਿਚਾਰੁ ॥
teh tum(h) mil kai karahu bichaar ||
There, you shall meet with the Lord, and reflect on Him.
ਈਤ ਊਤ ਕੀ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਰੈ ॥
e'eet uoot kee sojhee parai ||
Thus, you shall understand this world and the next.
ਕਉਨੁ ਕਰਮ ਮੇਰਾ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਮਰੈ ॥੧॥
kaun karam meraa kar kar marai ||1||
What is the use of claiming that you own everything, if you only die in the end? ||1||
ਨਿਜ ਪਦ ਊਪਰਿ ਲਾਗੋ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥
nij padh uoopar laago dhiaan ||
I focus my meditation on my inner self, deep within.
ਰਾਜਾ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੋਰਾ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
raajaa raam naam moraa braham giaan ||1|| rahaau ||
The Name of the Sovereign Lord is my spiritual wisdom. ||1||Pause||
ਮੂਲ ਦੁਆਰੈ ਬੰਧਿਆ ਬੰਧੁ ॥
mool dhuaarai ba(n)dhiaa ba(n)dh ||
In the first chakra, the root chakra, I have grasped the reins and tied them.
ਰਵਿ ਊਪਰਿ ਗਹਿ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਚੰਦੁ ॥
rav uoopar geh raakhiaa cha(n)dh ||
I have firmly placed the moon above the sun.
ਪਛਮ ਦੁਆਰੈ ਸੂਰਜੁ ਤਪੈ ॥
pachham dhuaarai sooraj tapai ||
The sun blazes forth at the western gate.
ਮੇਰ ਡੰਡ ਸਿਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਬਸੈ ॥੨॥
mer dda(n)dd sir uoopar basai ||2||
Through the central channel of the Shushmanaa, it rises up above my head. ||2||
ਪਸਚਮ ਦੁਆਰੇ ਕੀ ਸਿਲ ਓੜ ॥
pasacham dhuaare kee sil oR ||
There is a stone at that western gate,
ਤਿਹ ਸਿਲ ਊਪਰਿ ਖਿੜਕੀ ਅਉਰ ॥
teh sil uoopar khiRakee aaur ||
and above that stone, is another window.
ਖਿੜਕੀ ਊਪਰਿ ਦਸਵਾ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥
khiRakee uoopar dhasavaa dhuaar ||
Above that window is the Tenth Gate.
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਰੁ ॥੩॥੨॥੧੦॥
keh kabeer taa kaa a(n)t na paar ||3||2||10||
Says Kabeer, it has no end or limitation. ||3||2||10||
ਸੋ ਮੁਲਾਂ ਜੋ ਮਨ ਸਿਉ ਲਰੈ ॥
so mulaa(n) jo man siau larai ||
He alone is a Mullah, who struggles with his mind,
ਗੁਰ ਉਪਦੇਸਿ ਕਾਲ ਸਿਉ ਜੁਰੈ ॥
gur upadhes kaal siau jurai ||
and through the Guru's Teachings, fights with death.
ਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਕਾ ਮਰਦੈ ਮਾਨੁ ॥
kaal purakh kaa maradhai maan ||
He crushes the pride of the Messenger of Death.
ਤਿਸੁ ਮੁਲਾ ਕਉ ਸਦਾ ਸਲਾਮੁ ॥੧॥
tis mulaa kau sadhaa salaam ||1||
Unto that Mullah, I ever offer greetings of respect. ||1||
