ਹੈ ਹਜੂਰਿ ਕਤ ਦੂਰਿ ਬਤਾਵਹੁ ॥
hai hajoor kat dhoor bataavahu ||
God is present, right here at hand; why do you say that He is far away?
ਦੁੰਦਰ ਬਾਧਹੁ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਪਾਵਹੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
dhu(n)dhar baadhahu su(n)dhar paavahu ||1|| rahaau ||
Tie up your disturbing passions, and find the Beauteous Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਕਾਜੀ ਸੋ ਜੁ ਕਾਇਆ ਬੀਚਾਰੈ ॥
kaajee so ju kaiaa beechaarai ||
He alone is a Qazi, who contemplates the human body,
ਕਾਇਆ ਕੀ ਅਗਨਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਰਜਾਰੈ ॥
kaiaa kee agan braham parajaarai ||
and through the fire of the body, is illumined by God.
ਸੁਪਨੈ ਬਿੰਦੁ ਨ ਦੇਈ ਝਰਨਾ ॥
supanai bi(n)dh na dheiee jharanaa ||
He does not lose his semen, even in his dreams;
ਤਿਸੁ ਕਾਜੀ ਕਉ ਜਰਾ ਨ ਮਰਨਾ ॥੨॥
tis kaajee kau jaraa na maranaa ||2||
for such a Qazi, there is no old age or death. ||2||
ਸੋ ਸੁਰਤਾਨੁ ਜੁ ਦੁਇ ਸਰ ਤਾਨੈ ॥
so surataanu ju dhui sar taanai ||
He alone is a sultan and a king, who shoots the two arrows,
ਬਾਹਰਿ ਜਾਤਾ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਆਨੈ ॥
baahar jaataa bheetar aanai ||
gathers in his outgoing mind,
ਗਗਨ ਮੰਡਲ ਮਹਿ ਲਸਕਰੁ ਕਰੈ ॥
gagan ma(n)ddal meh lasakar karai ||
and assembles his army in the realm of the mind's sky, the Tenth Gate.
ਸੋ ਸੁਰਤਾਨੁ ਛਤ੍ਰੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਧਰੈ ॥੩॥
so surataan chhatr sir dharai ||3||
The canopy of royalty waves over such a sultan. ||3||
ਜੋਗੀ ਗੋਰਖੁ ਗੋਰਖੁ ਕਰੈ ॥
jogee gorakh gorakh karai ||
The Yogi cries out, ""Gorakh, Gorakh"".
ਹਿੰਦੂ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਚਰੈ ॥
hi(n)dhoo raam naam ucharai ||
The Hindu utters the Name of Raam.
ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ ਕਾ ਏਕੁ ਖੁਦਾਇ ॥
musalamaan kaa ek khudhai ||
The Muslim has only One God.
ਕਬੀਰ ਕਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੧॥
kabeer kaa suaamee rahiaa samai ||4||3||11||
The Lord and Master of Kabeer is all-pervading. ||4||3||11||

Fifth Mehla:
ਜੋ ਪਾਥਰ ਕਉ ਕਹਤੇ ਦੇਵ ॥
jo paathar kau kahate dhev ||
Those who call a stone their god
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੇਵ ॥
taa kee birathaa hovai sev ||
their service is useless.
ਜੋ ਪਾਥਰ ਕੀ ਪਾਂਈ ਪਾਇ ॥
jo paathar kee paa(n)iee pai ||
Those who fall at the feet of a stone god
ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਘਾਲ ਅਜਾਂਈ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥
tis kee ghaal ajaa(n)iee jai ||1||
- their work is wasted in vain. ||1||
ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਹਮਰਾ ਸਦ ਬੋਲੰਤਾ ॥
Thaakur hamaraa sadh bola(n)taa ||
My Lord and Master speaks forever.
ਸਰਬ ਜੀਆ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੇਤਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sarab jeeaa kau prabh dhaan dhetaa ||1|| rahaau ||
God gives His gifts to all living beings. ||1||Pause||
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਦੇਉ ਨ ਜਾਨੈ ਅੰਧੁ ॥
a(n)tar dheau na jaanai a(n)dh ||
The Divine Lord is within the self, but the spiritually blind one does not know this.
ਭ੍ਰਮ ਕਾ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਪਾਵੈ ਫੰਧੁ ॥
bhram kaa mohiaa paavai fa(n)dh ||
Deluded by doubt, he is caught in the noose.
ਨ ਪਾਥਰੁ ਬੋਲੈ ਨਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਦੇਇ ॥
n paathar bolai naa kichh dhei ||
The stone does not speak; it does not give anything to anyone.
ਫੋਕਟ ਕਰਮ ਨਿਹਫਲ ਹੈ ਸੇਵ ॥੨॥
fokaT karam nihafal hai sev ||2||
Such religious rituals are useless; such service is fruitless. ||2||
ਜੇ ਮਿਰਤਕ ਕਉ ਚੰਦਨੁ ਚੜਾਵੈ ॥
je mritak kau cha(n)dhan chaRaavai ||
If a corpse is anointed with sandalwood oil,
ਉਸ ਤੇ ਕਹਹੁ ਕਵਨ ਫਲ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
aus te kahahu kavan fal paavai ||
what good does it do?
ਜੇ ਮਿਰਤਕ ਕਉ ਬਿਸਟਾ ਮਾਹਿ ਰੁਲਾਈ ॥
je mritak kau bisaTaa maeh rulaiee ||
If a corpse is rolled in manure,
ਤਾਂ ਮਿਰਤਕ ਕਾ ਕਿਆ ਘਟਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੩॥
taa(n) mritak kaa kiaa ghaT jaiee ||3||
what does it lose from this? ||3||
ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰ ਹਉ ਕਹਉ ਪੁਕਾਰਿ ॥
kahat kabeer hau kahau pukaar ||
Says Kabeer, I proclaim this out loud
ਸਮਝਿ ਦੇਖੁ ਸਾਕਤ ਗਾਵਾਰ ॥
samajh dhekh saakat gaavaar ||
behold, and understand, you ignorant, faithless cynic.
ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਘਰ ਗਾਲੇ ॥
dhoojai bhai bahut ghar gaale ||
The love of duality has ruined countless homes.
ਰਾਮ ਭਗਤ ਹੈ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਾਲੇ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੨॥
raam bhagat hai sadhaa sukhaale ||4||4||12||
The Lord's devotees are forever in bliss. ||4||4||12||
ਜਲ ਮਹਿ ਮੀਨ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਬੇਧੇ ॥
jal meh meen maiaa ke bedhe ||
The fish in the water is attached to Maya.
ਦੀਪਕ ਪਤੰਗ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਛੇਦੇ ॥
dheepak pata(n)g maiaa ke chhedhe ||
The moth fluttering around the lamp is pierced through by Maya.
ਕਾਮ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੁੰਚਰ ਕਉ ਬਿਆਪੈ ॥
kaam maiaa ku(n)char kau biaapai ||
The sexual desire of Maya afflicts the elephant.
ਭੁਇਅੰਗਮ ਭ੍ਰਿੰਗ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਖਾਪੇ ॥੧॥
bhuia(n)gam bhira(n)g maiaa meh khaape ||1||
The snakes and bumble bees are destroyed through Maya. ||1||
ਮਾਇਆ ਐਸੀ ਮੋਹਨੀ ਭਾਈ ॥
maiaa aaisee mohanee bhaiee ||
Such are the enticements of Maya, O Siblings of Destiny.
ਜੇਤੇ ਜੀਅ ਤੇਤੇ ਡਹਕਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jete jeea tete ddahakaiee ||1|| rahaau ||
As many living beings are there are, have been deceived. ||1||Pause||
ਪੰਖੀ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਤੇ ॥
pa(n)khee mirag maiaa meh raate ||
The birds and the deer are imbued with Maya.
ਸਾਕਰ ਮਾਖੀ ਅਧਿਕ ਸੰਤਾਪੇ ॥
saakar maakhee adhik sa(n)taape ||
Sugar is a deadly trap for the flies.
ਤੁਰੇ ਉਸਟ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਭੇਲਾ ॥
ture usaT maiaa meh bhelaa ||
Horses and camels are absorbed in Maya.
ਸਿਧ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਖੇਲਾ ॥੨॥
sidh chauraaseeh maiaa meh khelaa ||2||
The eighty-four Siddhas, the beings of miraculous spiritual powers, play in Maya. ||2||
ਛਿਅ ਜਤੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਬੰਦਾ ॥
chhia jatee maiaa ke ba(n)dhaa ||
The six celibates are slaves of Maya.
ਨਵੈ ਨਾਥ ਸੂਰਜ ਅਰੁ ਚੰਦਾ ॥
navai naath sooraj ar cha(n)dhaa ||
So are the nine masters of Yoga, and the sun and the moon.
ਤਪੇ ਰਖੀਸਰ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਸੂਤਾ ॥
tape rakheesar maiaa meh sootaa ||
The austere disciplinarians and the Rishis are asleep in Maya.
ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਕਾਲੁ ਅਰੁ ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤਾ ॥੩॥
maiaa meh kaal ar pa(n)ch dhootaa ||3||
Death and the five demons are in Maya. ||3||
ਸੁਆਨ ਸਿਆਲ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥
suaan siaal maiaa meh raataa ||
Dogs and jackals are imbued with Maya.
ਬੰਤਰ ਚੀਤੇ ਅਰੁ ਸਿੰਘਾਤਾ ॥
ba(n)tar cheete ar si(n)ghaataa ||
Monkeys, leopards and lions,
ਮਾਂਜਾਰ ਗਾਡਰ ਅਰੁ ਲੂਬਰਾ ॥
maa(n)jaar gaaddar ar loobaraa ||
cats, sheep, foxes,
ਬਿਰਖ ਮੂਲ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਪਰਾ ॥੪॥
birakh mool maiaa meh paraa ||4||
trees and roots are planted in Maya. ||4||
ਮਾਇਆ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਭੀਨੇ ਦੇਵ ॥
maiaa a(n)tar bheene dhev ||
Even the gods are drenched with Maya,
ਸਾਗਰ ਇੰਦ੍ਰਾ ਅਰੁ ਧਰਤੇਵ ॥
saagar i(n)dhraa ar dharatev ||
as are the oceans, the sky and the earth.
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਜਿਸੁ ਉਦਰੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
keh kabeer jis udhar tis maiaa ||
Says Kabeer, whoever has a belly to fill, is under the spell of Maya.
ਤਬ ਛੂਟੇ ਜਬ ਸਾਧੂ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੫॥੫॥੧੩॥
tab chhooTe jab saadhoo paiaa ||5||5||13||
The mortal is emancipated only when he meets the Holy Saint. ||5||5||13||
ਜਬ ਲਗੁ ਮੇਰੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਕਰੈ ॥
jab lag meree meree karai ||
As long as he cries out, Mine! Mine!,
ਤਬ ਲਗੁ ਕਾਜੁ ਏਕੁ ਨਹੀ ਸਰੈ ॥
tab lag kaaj ek nahee sarai ||
none of his tasks is accomplished.
ਜਬ ਮੇਰੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਿਟਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
jab meree meree miT jai ||
