ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਤਖਤਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੇ ਪਰਧਾਨ ਕੀਏ ॥
jin kau takhat milai vaddiaaiee gurmukh se paradhaan ke'ee ||
Those who are blessed with the glory of the Lord's Throne - those Gurmukhs are renowned as supreme.
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਤਖਤਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੇ ਪਰਧਾਨ ਕੀਏ ॥

paaras bheT bhe se paaras naanak har gur sa(n)g the'ee ||4||4||12||
Touching the philosopher's stone, they themselves becomes the philosopher's stone; they become the companions of the Lord, the Guru. ||4||4||12||
ਬਸੰਤੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ਘਰੁ ੧ ਦੁਤੁਕੇ

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਮਾਹਾ ਰੁਤੀ ਮਹਿ ਸਦ ਬਸੰਤੁ ॥
maahaa rutee meh sadh basa(n)t ||
Throughout the months and the seasons, the Lord is always in bloom.
ਜਿਤੁ ਹਰਿਆ ਸਭੁ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤੁ ॥
jit hariaa sabh jeea ja(n)t ||
He rejuvenates all beings and creatures.
ਕਿਆ ਹਉ ਆਖਾ ਕਿਰਮ ਜੰਤੁ ॥
kiaa hau aakhaa kiram ja(n)t ||
What can I say? I am just a worm.
ਤੇਰਾ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਆਦਿ ਅੰਤੁ ॥੧॥
teraa kinai na paiaa aadh a(n)t ||1||
No one has found Your beginning or Your end, O Lord. ||1||
ਤੈ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕੀ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੇਵ ॥
tai saahib kee kareh sev ||
Those who serve You, Lord,
ਪਰਮ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਆਤਮ ਦੇਵ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
param sukh paaveh aatam dhev ||1|| rahaau ||
obtain the greatest peace; their souls are so divine. ||1||Pause||
ਕਰਮੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਤਾਂ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੈ ॥
karam hovai taa(n) sevaa karai ||
If the Lord is merciful, then the mortal is allowed to serve Him.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਜੀਵਤ ਮਰੈ ॥
gur parasaadhee jeevat marai ||
By Guru's Grace, he remains dead while yet alive.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਾਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਚਰੈ ॥
anadhin saach naam ucharai ||
Night and day, he chants the True Name;
ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਦੁਤਰੁ ਤਰੈ ॥੨॥
ein bidh praanee dhutar tarai ||2||
in this way, he crosses over the treacherous world-ocean. ||2||
ਬਿਖੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਕਰਤਾਰਿ ਉਪਾਏ ॥
bikh a(n)mrit karataar upaae ||
The Creator created both poison and nectar.
ਸੰਸਾਰ ਬਿਰਖ ਕਉ ਦੁਇ ਫਲ ਲਾਏ ॥
sa(n)saar birakh kau dhui fal laae ||
He attached these two fruits to the world-plant.
ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਾਏ ॥
aape karataa kare karaae ||
The Creator Himself is the Doer, the Cause of all.
ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੈ ਖਵਾਏ ॥੩॥
jo tis bhaavai tisai khavaae ||3||
He feeds all as He pleases. ||3||
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥
naanak jis no nadhar karei ||
O Nanak, when He casts His Glance of Grace,
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਇ ॥
a(n)mirat naam aape dhei ||
He Himself bestows His Ambrosial Naam.
ਬਿਖਿਆ ਕੀ ਬਾਸਨਾ ਮਨਹਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥
bikhiaa kee baasanaa maneh karei ||
Thus, the desire for sin and corruption is ended.
ਅਪਣਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥੪॥੧॥
apanaa bhaanaa aap karei ||4||1||
The Lord Himself carries out His Own Will. ||4||1||
ਬਸੰਤੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥
basa(n)t mahalaa teejaa ||
Basant, Third Mehla:
ਰਾਤੇ ਸਾਚਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਨਿਹਾਲਾ ॥
raate saach har naam nihaalaa ||
Those who are attuned to the True Lord's Name are happy and exalted.
ਦਇਆ ਕਰਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
dhiaa karahu prabh dheen dhiaalaa ||
Take pity on me, O God, Merciful to the meek.
ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨਹੀ ਮੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
tis bin avar nahee mai koi ||
Without Him, I have no other at all.
ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਾਖੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥
jiau bhaavai tiau raakhai soi ||1||
As it pleases His Will, He keeps me. ||1||
ਗੁਰ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਏ ॥
gur gopaal merai man bhaae ||
The Guru, the Lord, is pleasing to my mind.
ਰਹਿ ਨ ਸਕਉ ਦਰਸਨ ਦੇਖੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਹਜਿ ਮਿਲਉ ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
reh na sakau dharasan dhekhe bin sahaj milau gur mel milaae ||1|| rahaau ||
I cannot even survive, without the Blessed Vision of His Darshan. But I shall easily unite with the Guru, if He unites me in His Union. ||1||Pause||
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਲੋਭੀ ਲੋਭਿ ਲੁਭਾਨਾ ॥
eih man lobhee lobh lubhaanaa ||
The greedy mind is enticed by greed.
ਰਾਮ ਬਿਸਾਰਿ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਪਛੁਤਾਨਾ ॥
raam bisaar bahur pachhutaanaa ||
Forgetting the Lord, it regrets and repents in the end.
ਬਿਛੁਰਤ ਮਿਲਾਇ ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵ ਰਾਂਗੇ ॥
bichhurat milai gur sev raa(n)ge ||
The separated ones are reunited, when they are inspired to serve the Guru.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਓ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਵਡਭਾਗੇ ॥੨॥
har naam dheeo masatak vaddabhaage ||2||
They are blessed with the Lord's Name - such is the destiny written on their foreheads. ||2||
ਪਉਣ ਪਾਣੀ ਕੀ ਇਹ ਦੇਹ ਸਰੀਰਾ ॥
paun paanee kee ieh dheh sareeraa ||
This body is built of air and water.
ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗੁ ਕਠਿਨ ਤਨਿ ਪੀਰਾ ॥
haumai rog kaThin tan peeraa ||
The body is afflicted with the terribly painful illness of egotism.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਦਾਰੂ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ॥
gurmukh raam naam dhaaroo gun gaiaa ||
The Gurmukh has the Medicine: singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord's Name.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਰੋਗੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
kar kirapaa gur rog gavaiaa ||3||
Granting His Grace, the Guru has cured the illness. ||3||
ਚਾਰਿ ਨਦੀਆ ਅਗਨੀ ਤਨਿ ਚਾਰੇ ॥
chaar nadheeaa aganee tan chaare ||
The four evils are the four rivers of fire flowing through the body.
ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਜਲਤ ਜਲੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੇ ॥
tirasanaa jalat jale aha(n)kaare ||
It is burning in desire, and burning in egotism.
ਗੁਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਤਾਰੇ ॥
gur raakhe vaddabhaagee taare ||
Those whom the Guru protects and saves are very fortunate.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਉਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਧਾਰੇ ॥੪॥੨॥
jan naanak ur har a(n)mrit dhaare ||4||2||
Servant Nanak enshrines the Ambrosial Name of the Lord in his heart. ||4||2||
ਬਸੰਤੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥

ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵੇ ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਲੋਗੁ ॥
har seve so har kaa log ||
One who serves the Lord is the Lord's person.
ਸਾਚੁ ਸਹਜੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੋਗੁ ॥
saach sahaj kadhe na hovai sog ||
He dwells in intuitive peace, and never suffers in sorrow.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੁਏ ਨਾਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
manmukh mue naahee har man maeh ||
The self-willed manmukhs are dead; the Lord is not within their minds.
ਮਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਭੀ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
mar mar ja(n)meh bhee mar jaeh ||1||
They die and die again and again, and are reincarnated, only to die once more. ||1||
ਸੇ ਜਨ ਜੀਵੇ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
se jan jeeve jin har man maeh ||
They alone are alive, whose minds are filled with the Lord.
ਸਾਚੁ ਸਮੑਾਲਹਿ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
saach sam(h)aaleh saach samaeh ||1|| rahaau ||
They contemplate the True Lord, and are absorbed in the True Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਹਰਿ ਨ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਤੇ ਦੂਰਿ ॥
har na seveh te har te dhoor ||
Those who do not serve the Lord are far away from the Lord.
ਦਿਸੰਤਰੁ ਭਵਹਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਧੂਰਿ ॥
dhisa(n)tar bhaveh sir paaveh dhoor ||
They wander in foreign lands, with dust thrown on their heads.
ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਜਨ ਲੀਏ ਲਾਇ ॥
har aape jan le'ee lai ||
The Lord Himself enjoins His humble servants to serve Him.
ਤਿਨ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੈ ਤਿਲੁ ਨ ਤਮਾਇ ॥੨॥
tin sadhaa sukh hai til na tamai ||2||
They live in peace forever, and have no greed at all. ||2||
