ਜਿਨ ਸੰਤਨ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਤੂ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਤੇ ਆਏ ਪਰਵਾਨ ॥
jin sa(n)tan jaaniaa too Thaakur te aae paravaan ||
Those Saints who know You, O Lord and Master - blessed and approved is their coming into the world.
ਜਨ ਕਾ ਸੰਗੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ॥੨॥੪੧॥੬੪॥
jan kaa sa(n)g paieeaai vaddabhaagee naanak sa(n)tan kai kurabaan ||2||41||64||
The Congregation of those humble beings is obtained by great good fortune; Nanak is a sacrifice to the Saints. ||2||41||64||

Saarang, Fifth Mehla:
ਕਰਹੁ ਗਤਿ ਦਇਆਲ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਮੋਰੀ ॥
karahu gat dhiaal sa(n)tahu moree ||
Save me, O Merciful Saint!
ਤੁਮ ਸਮਰਥ ਕਾਰਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਤੂਟੀ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਜੋਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tum samarath kaaran karanaa tooTee tum hee joree ||1|| rahaau ||
You are the All-powerful Cause of causes. You have ended my separation, and joined me with God. ||1||Pause||
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਬਿਖਈ ਤੁਮ ਤਾਰੇ ਸੁਮਤਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੈ ਪਾਈ ॥
janam janam ke bikhiee tum taare sumat sa(n)g tumaarai paiee ||
You save us from the corruption and sins of countless incarnations; associating with You, we obtain sublime understanding.
ਅਨਿਕ ਜੋਨਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਿਸਰਤ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਈ ॥੧॥
anik jon bhramate prabh bisarat saas saas har gaiee ||1||
Forgetting God, we wandered through countless incarnations; with each and every breath, we sing the Lord's Praises. ||1||
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਸਾਧੂ ਕੈ ਤੇ ਤੇ ਪਤਿਤ ਪੁਨੀਤਾ ॥
jo jo sa(n)g mile saadhoo kai te te patit puneetaa ||
Whoever meets with the Holy Saints - those sinners are sanctified.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਵਡਭਾਗਾ ਤਿਨਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਜੀਤਾ ॥੨॥੪੨॥੬੫॥
kahu naanak jaa ke vaddabhaagaa tin janam padhaarath jeetaa ||2||42||65||
Says Nanak, those who have such high destiny, win this invaluable human life. ||2||42||65||

ਠਾਕੁਰ ਬਿਨਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਜਨੁ ਆਇਓ ॥
Thaakur binatee karan jan aaio ||
O my Lord and Master, Your humble servant has come to offer this prayer.
ਸਰਬ ਸੂਖ ਆਨੰਦ ਸਹਜ ਰਸ ਸੁਨਤ ਤੁਹਾਰੋ ਨਾਇਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sarab sookh aana(n)dh sahaj ras sunat tuhaaro naio ||1|| rahaau ||
Hearing Your Name, I am blessed with total peace, bliss, poise and pleasure. ||1||Pause||
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਸੂਖ ਕੇ ਸਾਗਰ ਜਸੁ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਜਾ ਕੋ ਛਾਇਓ ॥
kirapaa nidhaan sookh ke saagar jas sabh meh jaa ko chhaio ||
The Treasure of Mercy, the Ocean of Peace - His Praises are diffused everywhere.
ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਰੰਗ ਤੁਮ ਕੀਏ ਅਪਨਾ ਆਪੁ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਾਇਓ ॥੧॥
sa(n)tasa(n)g ra(n)g tum ke'ee apanaa aap dhirasaTaio ||1||
O Lord, You celebrate in the Society of the Saints; You reveal Yourself to them. ||1||
ਨੈਨਹੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਚਰਨ ਝਾਰੀ ਕੇਸਾਇਓ ॥
nainahu sa(n)g sa(n)tan kee sevaa charan jhaaree kesaio ||
With my eyes I see the Saints, and dedicate myself to serving them; I wash their feet with my hair.
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਸੰਤਨ ਕਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹੁ ਪਾਇਓ ॥੨॥੪੩॥੬੬॥
aaTh pahar dharasan sa(n)tan kaa sukh naanak ih paio ||2||43||66||
Twenty-four hours a day, I gaze upon the Blessed Vision, the Darshan of the Saints; this is the peace and comfort which Nanak has received. ||2||43||66||

Saarang, Fifth Mehla:
ਜਾ ਕੀ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ॥
jaa kee raam naam liv laagee ||
One who is lovingly absorbed in the Lord's Name
ਸਜਨੁ ਸੁਰਿਦਾ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ਸਹਜੇ ਸੋ ਕਹੀਐ ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sajan suridhaa suhelaa sahaje so kaheeaai baddabhaagee ||1|| rahaau ||
is a good-hearted friend, intuitively embellished with happiness. He is said to be blessed and fortunate. ||1||Pause||
ਰਹਿਤ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਅਲਪ ਮਾਇਆ ਤੇ ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਤਿਆਗੀ ॥
rahit bikaar alap maiaa te aha(n)budh bikh tiaagee ||
He is rid of sin and corruption, and detached from Maya; he has renounced the poison of egotistical intellect.
ਦਰਸ ਪਿਆਸ ਆਸ ਏਕਹਿ ਕੀ ਟੇਕ ਹੀਐਂ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਪਾਗੀ ॥੧॥
dharas piaas aas ekeh kee Tek heeaai(n) pria paagee ||1||
He thirsts for the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan, and he places his hopes in the One Lord alone. The Feet of his Beloved are the Support of his heart. ||1||
ਅਚਿੰਤ ਸੋਇ ਜਾਗਨੁ ਉਠਿ ਬੈਸਨੁ ਅਚਿੰਤ ਹਸਤ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ॥
achi(n)t soi jaagan uTh baisan achi(n)t hasat bairaagee ||
He sleeps, wakes, rises up and sits down without anxiety; he laughs and cries without anxiety.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨਿ ਜਗਤੁ ਠਗਾਨਾ ਸੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਠਾਗੀ ॥੨॥੪੪॥੬੭॥
kahu naanak jin jagat Thagaanaa su maiaa har jan Thaagee ||2||44||67||
Says Nanak, she who has cheated the world - that Maya is cheated by the humble servant of the Lord. ||2||44||67||

ਅਬ ਜਨ ਊਪਰਿ ਕੋ ਨ ਪੁਕਾਰੈ ॥
ab jan uoopar ko na pukaarai ||
Now, no one complains about the Lord's humble servant.
ਪੂਕਾਰਨ ਕਉ ਜੋ ਉਦਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਮਾਰੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
pookaaran kau jo udham karataa gur paramesar taa kau maarai ||1|| rahaau ||
Whoever tries to complain is destroyed by the Guru, the Transcendent Lord God. ||1||Pause||
ਨਿਰਵੈਰੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਵੈਰੁ ਰਚਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਓਹੁ ਹਾਰੈ ॥
niravairai sa(n)g vair rachaavai har dharageh oh haarai ||
Whoever harbors vengeance against the One who is beyond all vengenace, shall lose in the Court of the Lord.
ਆਦਿ ਜੁਗਾਦਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਪੈਜ ਸਵਾਰੈ ॥੧॥
aadh jugaadh prabh kee vaddiaaiee jan kee paij savaarai ||1||
From the very beginning of time, and throughout the ages, it is the glorious greatness of God, that He preserves the honor of His humble servants. ||1||
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਭਏ ਸਗਲ ਭਉ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਆਧਾਰੈ ॥
nirabhau bhe sagal bhau miTiaa charan kamal aadhaarai ||
The mortal becomes fearless, and all his fears are taken away, when he leans on the Support of the Lord's Lotus Feet.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਬਚਨਿ ਜਪਿਓ ਨਾਉ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਭਇਓ ਸੰਸਾਰੈ ॥੨॥੪੫॥੬੮॥
gur kai bachan japio naau naanak pragaT bhio sa(n)saarai ||2||45||68||
Chanting the Name, through the Guru's Word, Nanak has become famous throughout the world. ||2||45||68||

ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਛੋਡਿਆ ਸਗਲਾ ਆਪੁ ॥
har jan chhoddiaa sagalaa aap ||
The Lord's humble servant has discarded all self-conceit.
ਜਿਉ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਤਿਉ ਰਖਹੁ ਗੁਸਾਈ ਪੇਖਿ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਪਰਤਾਪੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jiau jaanahu tiau rakhahu gusaiee pekh jeevaa(n) parataap ||1|| rahaau ||
As You see fit, You save us, O Lord of the World. Beholding Your Glorious Grandeur, I live. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰ ਉਪਦੇਸਿ ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਬਿਨਸਿਓ ਸਗਲ ਸੰਤਾਪੁ ॥
gur upadhes saadh kee sa(n)gat binasio sagal sa(n)taap ||
Through the Guru's Instruction, and the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, all sorrow and suffering is taken away.
ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਸਤ੍ਰ ਪੇਖਿ ਸਮਤੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਿਓ ਸਗਲ ਸੰਭਾਖਨ ਜਾਪੁ ॥੧॥
mitr satr pekh samat beechaario sagal sa(n)bhaakhan jaap ||1||
I look upon friend and enemy alike; all that I speak is the Lord's meditation. ||1||
ਤਪਤਿ ਬੁਝੀ ਸੀਤਲ ਆਘਾਨੇ ਸੁਨਿ ਅਨਹਦ ਬਿਸਮ ਭਏ ਬਿਸਮਾਦ ॥
tapat bujhee seetal aaghaane sun anahadh bisam bhe bisamaadh ||
The fire within me is quenched; I am cool, calm and tranquil. Hearing the unstruck celestial melody, I am wonder-struck and amazed.
ਅਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੂਰੇ ਨਾਦ ॥੨॥੪੬॥੬੯॥
anadh bhiaa naanak man saachaa pooran poore naadh ||2||46||69||
I am in ecstasy, O Nanak, and my mind is filled with Truth, through the perfect perfection of the Sound-current of the Naad. ||2||46||69||
