ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਮਿਲੁ ਸੰਗਤੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੋਵਿੰਦਾ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਧਿ ਕਾਜੈ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੪॥੩੦॥੬੮॥
vaddabhaagee mil sa(n)gatee mere govi(n)dhaa jan naanak naam sidh kaajai jeeau ||4||4||30||68||
By great good fortune, one joins the Sangat, the Holy Congregation, O my Lord of the Universe; O servant Nanak, through the Naam, one's affairs are resolved. ||4||4||30||68||
ਗਉੜੀ ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥
gauRee maajh mahalaa chauthhaa ||
Gauree Maajh, Fourth Mehla:
ਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਰਹੁ ਲਗਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥
mai har naamai har birahu lagaiee jeeau ||
The Lord has implanted a longing for the Lord's Name within me.
ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਿਤੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥
meraa har prabh mit milai sukh paiee jeeau ||
I have met the Lord God, my Best Friend, and I have found peace.
ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਜੀਵਾ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥
har prabh dhekh jeevaa meree maiee jeeau ||
Beholding my Lord God, I live, O my mother.
ਮੇਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਖਾ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
meraa naam sakhaa har bhaiee jeeau ||1||
The Lord's Name is my Friend and Brother. ||1||
ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਜੀਉ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇਰੇ ਜੀਉ ॥
gun gaavahu sa(n)t jeeau mere har prabh kere jeeau ||
O Dear Saints, sing the Glorious Praises of my Lord God.
ਜਪਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜੀਉ ਭਾਗ ਵਡੇਰੇ ਜੀਉ ॥
jap gurmukh naam jeeau bhaag vaddere jeeau ||
As Gurmukh, chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord, O very fortunate ones.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜੀਉ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਜੀਉ ॥
har har naam jeeau praan har mere jeeau ||
The Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is my soul and my breath of life.
ਫਿਰਿ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਭਵਜਲ ਫੇਰੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
fir bahuR na bhavajal fere jeeau ||2||
I shall never again have to cross over the terrifying world-ocean. ||2||
ਕਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਵੇਖਾ ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਚਾਉ ਜੀਉ ॥
kiau har prabh vekhaa merai man tan chaau jeeau ||
How shall I behold my Lord God? My mind and body yearn for Him.
ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਜੀਉ ਮਨਿ ਲਗਾ ਭਾਉ ਜੀਉ ॥
har melahu sa(n)t jeeau man lagaa bhaau jeeau ||
Unite me with the Lord, Dear Saints; my mind is in love with Him.
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਪਾਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਰਾਉ ਜੀਉ ॥
gur sabadhee paieeaai har preetam raau jeeau ||
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, I have found the Sovereign Lord, my Beloved.
ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਉ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
vaddabhaagee jap naau jeeau ||3||
O very fortunate ones, chant the Name of the Lord. ||3||
ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਵਡੜੀ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਸਾ ਜੀਉ ॥
merai man tan vaddaRee govi(n)dh prabh aasaa jeeau ||
Within my mind and body, there is such a great longing for God, the Lord of the Universe.
ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਜੀਉ ਗੋਵਿਦ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਾਸਾ ਜੀਉ ॥
har melahu sa(n)t jeeau govidh prabh paasaa jeeau ||
Unite me with the Lord, Dear Saints. God, the Lord of the Universe, is so close to me.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਗਾਸਾ ਜੀਉ ॥
satigur mat naam sadhaa paragaasaa jeeau ||
Through the Teachings of the True Guru, the Naam is always revealed;
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰਿਅੜੀ ਮਨਿ ਆਸਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੫॥੩੧॥੬੯॥
jan naanak pooriaRee man aasaa jeeau ||4||5||31||69||
the desires of servant Nanak's mind have been fulfilled. ||4||5||31||69||

ਮੇਰਾ ਬਿਰਹੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਾ ਜੀਵਾ ਜੀਉ ॥
meraa birahee naam milai taa jeevaa jeeau ||
If I receive my Love, the Naam, then I live.
ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਲੀਵਾ ਜੀਉ ॥
man a(n)dhar a(n)mrit gurmat har leevaa jeeau ||
In the temple of the mind, is the Ambrosial Nectar of the Lord; through the Guru's Teachings, we drink it in.
ਮਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤੜਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਸਦਾ ਪੀਵਾ ਜੀਉ ॥
man har ra(n)g rataRaa har ras sadhaa peevaa jeeau ||
My mind is drenched with the Love of the Lord. I continually drink in the sublime essence of the Lord.
ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਅੜਾ ਮਨਿ ਜੀਵਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
har paiaRaa man jeevaa jeeau ||1||
I have found the Lord within my mind, and so I live. ||1||
ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਲਗਾ ਹਰਿ ਬਾਣੁ ਜੀਉ ॥
merai man tan prem lagaa har baan jeeau ||
The arrow of the Lord's Love has pierced by mind and body.
ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਮਿਤ੍ਰੁ ਹਰਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸੁਜਾਣੁ ਜੀਉ ॥
meraa preetam mitr har purakh sujaan jeeau ||
The Lord, the Primal Being, is All-knowing; He is my Beloved and my Best Friend.
ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲੇ ਸੰਤ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਘੜੁ ਸੁਜਾਣੁ ਜੀਉ ॥
gur mele sa(n)t har sughaR sujaan jeeau ||
The Saintly Guru has united me with the All-knowing and All-seeing Lord.
ਹਉ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੁ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
hau naam viTahu kurabaan jeeau ||2||
I am a sacrifice to the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||2||
ਹਉ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਜਣੁ ਹਰਿ ਮੀਤੁ ਦਸਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥
hau har har sajan har meet dhasaiee jeeau ||
I seek my Lord, Har, Har, my Intimate, my Best Friend.
ਹਰਿ ਦਸਹੁ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਜੀ ਹਰਿ ਖੋਜੁ ਪਵਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥
har dhasahu sa(n)tahu jee har khoj pavaiee jeeau ||
Show me the way to the Lord, Dear Saints; I am searching all over for Him.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਤੁਠੜਾ ਦਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥
satigur tuThaRaa dhase har paiee jeeau ||
The Kind and Compassionate True Guru has shown me the Way, and I have found the Lord.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੇ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
har naame naam samaiee jeeau ||3||
Through the Name of the Lord, I am absorbed in the Naam. ||3||
ਮੈ ਵੇਦਨ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਰਹੁ ਲਗਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥
mai vedhan prem har birahu lagaiee jeeau ||
I am consumed with the pain of separation from the Love of the Lord.
ਗੁਰ ਸਰਧਾ ਪੂਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥
gur saradhaa poor a(n)mrit mukh paiee jeeau ||
The Guru has fulfilled my desire, and I have received the Ambrosial Nectar in my mouth.
ਹਰਿ ਹੋਹੁ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈ ਜੀਉ ॥
har hoh dhiaal har naam dhiaaiee jeeau ||
The Lord has become merciful, and now I meditate on the Name of the Lord.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੬॥੨੦॥੧੮॥੩੨॥੭੦॥
jan naanak har ras paiee jeeau ||4||6||20||18||32||70||
Servant Nanak has obtained the sublime essence of the Lord. ||4||6||20||18||32||70||

ਕਿਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਕੁਸਲੁ ਹੋਤ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥
kin bidh kusal hot mere bhaiee ||
How can happiness be found, O my Siblings of Destiny?
ਕਿਉ ਪਾਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਮ ਸਹਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kiau paieeaai har raam sahaiee ||1|| rahaau ||
How can the Lord, our Help and Support, be found? ||1||Pause||
ਕੁਸਲੁ ਨ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਭ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
kusal na gireh meree sabh maiaa ||
There is no happiness in owning one's own home, in all of Maya,
ਊਚੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਛਾਇਆ ॥
uooche ma(n)dhar su(n)dhar chhaiaa ||
or in lofty mansions casting beautiful shadows.
ਝੂਠੇ ਲਾਲਚਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
jhooThe laalach janam gavaiaa ||1||
In fraud and greed, this human life is being wasted. ||1||
