Gauree, Fifth Mehla:
ਤੁਮ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਰਾਤੇ ਸੰਤਹੁ ॥
tum har setee raate sa(n)tahu ||
O Saint, You are attuned to the Lord.
ਨਿਬਾਹਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਪੁਰਖ ਬਿਧਾਤੇ ਓੜਿ ਪਹੁਚਾਵਹੁ ਦਾਤੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
nibaeh leh mo kau purakh bidhaate oR pahuchaavahu dhaate ||1|| rahaau ||
Please stand my me, Architect of Destiny; please take me to my destination, Great Giver. ||1||Pause||
ਤੁਮਰਾ ਮਰਮੁ ਤੁਮਾ ਹੀ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਤੁਮ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੁਰਖ ਬਿਧਾਤੇ ॥
tumaraa maram tumaa hee jaaniaa tum pooran purakh bidhaate ||
You alone know Your mystery; You are the Perfect Architect of Destiny.
ਰਾਖਹੁ ਸਰਣਿ ਅਨਾਥ ਦੀਨ ਕਉ ਕਰਹੁ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਗਾਤੇ ॥੧॥
raakhahu saran anaath dheen kau karahu hamaaree gaate ||1||
I am a helpless orphan - please keep me under Your Protection and save me. ||1||
ਤਰਣ ਸਾਗਰ ਬੋਹਿਥ ਚਰਣ ਤੁਮਾਰੇ ਤੁਮ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਅਪੁਨੀ ਭਾਤੇ ॥
taran saagar bohith charan tumaare tum jaanahu apunee bhaate ||
Your Feet are the boat to carry us across the world-ocean; You alone know Your ways.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਸੰਗੇ ਤੇ ਤੇ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਰਾਤੇ ॥੨॥
kar kirapaa jis raakhahu sa(n)ge te te paar paraate ||2||
Those whom You keep protected, by Your Kindness, cross over to the other side. ||2||
ਈਤ ਊਤ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੁਮ ਸਮਰਥਾ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਤੁਮਰੈ ਹਾਥੇ ॥
e'eet uoot prabh tum samarathaa sabh kichh tumarai haathe ||
Here and hereafter, God, You are All-powerful; everything is in Your Hands.
ਐਸਾ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਦੇਹੁ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਚਲੈ ਹਮਾਰੈ ਸਾਥੇ ॥੩॥
aaisaa nidhaan dheh mo kau har jan chalai hamaarai saathe ||3||
Please give me that treasure, which will go along with me, O servant of the Lord. ||3||
ਨਿਰਗੁਨੀਆਰੇ ਕਉ ਗੁਨੁ ਕੀਜੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਜਾਪੇ ॥
niraguneeaare kau gun keejai har naam meraa man jaape ||
I am without virtue - please bless me with virtue, so that my mind might chant the Name of the Lord.
ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਭੇਟੇ ਮਨ ਤਨ ਸੀਤਲ ਧ੍ਰਾਪੇ ॥੪॥੧੪॥੧੩੫॥
sa(n)t prasaadh naanak har bheTe man tan seetal dhraape ||4||14||135||
By the Grace of the Saints, Nanak has met the Lord; his mind and body are soothed and satisfied. ||4||14||135||

ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਇਓ ਦੇਵ ॥
sahaj samaio dhev ||
I am intuitively absorbed in the Divine Lord.
ਮੋ ਕਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭਏ ਦਇਆਲ ਦੇਵ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
mo kau satigur bhe dhiaal dhev ||1|| rahaau ||
The Divine True Guru has become Merciful to me. ||1||Pause||
ਕਾਟਿ ਜੇਵਰੀ ਕੀਓ ਦਾਸਰੋ ਸੰਤਨ ਟਹਲਾਇਓ ॥
kaaT jevaree keeo dhaasaro sa(n)tan Tahalaio ||
Cutting away the halter, He has made me His slave, and now I work for the Saints.
ਏਕ ਨਾਮ ਕੋ ਥੀਓ ਪੂਜਾਰੀ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਅਚਰਜੁ ਗੁਰਹਿ ਦਿਖਾਇਓ ॥੧॥
ek naam ko theeo poojaaree mo kau acharaj gureh dhikhaio ||1||
I have become a worshipper of the One Name; the Guru has shown me this amazing wonder. ||1||
ਭਇਓ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ਸਰਬ ਉਜੀਆਰਾ ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਮਨਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਇਓ ॥
bhio pragaas sarab ujeeaaraa gur giaan maneh pragaTaio ||
The Divine Light has dawned, and everything is illuminated; the Guru has revealed this spiritual wisdom to my mind.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਪੀਓ ਮਨੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿਆ ਅਨਭੈ ਠਹਰਾਇਓ ॥੨॥
a(n)mrit naam peeo man tirapatiaa anabhai Thaharaio ||2||
Drinking deeply of the Ambrosial Naam, the Name of the Lord, my mind is satisfied, and my fears have been vanquished. ||2||
ਮਾਨਿ ਆਗਿਆ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਏ ਦੂਖਹ ਠਾਉ ਗਵਾਇਓ ॥
maan aagiaa sarab sukh paae dhookheh Thaau gavaio ||
Accepting the Command of the Lord's Will, I have found total peace; the home of suffering has been destroyed.
ਜਉ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਭਏ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਸਭੁ ਆਨਦ ਰੂਪੁ ਦਿਖਾਇਓ ॥੩॥
jau suprasa(n)n bhe prabh Thaakur sabh aanadh roop dhikhaio ||3||
When God, our Lord and Master was totally pleased, He revealed everything in the form of ecstasy. ||3||
ਨਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਆਵਤ ਨਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਜਾਵਤ ਸਭੁ ਖੇਲੁ ਕੀਓ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇਓ ॥
naa kichh aavat naa kichh jaavat sabh khel keeo har raio ||
Nothing comes, and nothing goes; this play is all set in motion by the Lord, the Sovereign King.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਗਮ ਅਗਮ ਹੈ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਭਗਤ ਟੇਕ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਇਓ ॥੪॥੧੫॥੧੩੬॥
kahu naanak agam agam hai Thaakur bhagat Tek har naio ||4||15||136||
Says Nanak, our Lord and Master is inaccessible and unfathomable. The Lord's devotees take His Name as their Support. ||4||15||136||

ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰ ਮਨ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਓਟ ਗਹੀਜੈ ਰੇ ॥
paarabraham pooran paramesur man taa kee oT gaheejai re ||
He is the Supreme Lord God, the Perfect Transcendent Lord; O my mind, hold tight to the Support of the One
ਜਿਨਿ ਧਾਰੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡ ਖੰਡ ਹਰਿ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੀਜੈ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jin dhaare brahama(n)dd kha(n)dd har taa ko naam japeejai re ||1|| rahaau ||
who established the solar systems and galaxies. Chant the Name of that Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਮਨ ਕੀ ਮਤਿ ਤਿਆਗਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਬੂਝਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਰੇ ॥
man kee mat tiaagahu har jan hukam boojh sukh paieeaai re ||
Renounce the intellectual cleverness of your mind, O humble servants of the Lord; understanding the Hukam of His Command, peace is found.
ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕਰੈ ਸੋਈ ਭਲ ਮਾਨਹੁ ਸੁਖਿ ਦੁਖਿ ਓਹੀ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਰੇ ॥੧॥
jo prabh karai soiee bhal maanahu sukh dhukh ohee dhiaaieeaai re ||1||
Whatever God does, accept that with pleasure; in comfort and in suffering, meditate on Him. ||1||
ਕੋਟਿ ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰੇ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਕਰਤੇ ਬਾਰ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਰੇ ॥
koT patit udhaare khin meh karate baar na laagai re ||
The Creator emancipates millions of sinners in an instant, without a moment's delay.
ਦੀਨ ਦਰਦ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਨਿਵਾਜੈ ਰੇ ॥੨॥
dheen dharadh dhukh bha(n)jan suaamee jis bhaavai tiseh nivaajai re ||2||
The Lord, the Destroyer of the pain and sorrow of the poor, blesses those with whom He is pleased. ||2||
ਸਭ ਕੋ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਕ ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਰੇ ॥
sabh ko maat pitaa pratipaalak jeea praan sukh saagar re ||
He is Mother and Father, the Cherisher of all; He is the Breath of life of all beings, the Ocean of peace.
ਦੇਂਦੇ ਤੋਟਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਰਤੇ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਰਤਨਾਗਰੁ ਰੇ ॥੩॥
dhe(n)dhe toT naahee tis karate poor rahio ratanaagar re ||3||
While giving so generously, the Creator does not diminish at all. The Source of jewels, He is All-pervading. ||3||
ਜਾਚਿਕੁ ਜਾਚੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਘਟ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸੋਈ ਰੇ ॥
jaachik jaachai naam teraa suaamee ghaT ghaT a(n)tar soiee re ||
The beggar begs for Your Name, O Lord and Master; God is contained deep within the nucleus of each and every heart.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਦਾਸੁ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਜਾ ਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਿਥਾ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਰੇ ॥੪॥੧੬॥੧੩੭॥
naanak dhaas taa kee saranaiee jaa te birathaa na koiee re ||4||16||137||
Slave Nanak has entered His Sanctuary; no one returns from Him empty-handed. ||4||16||137||
