ਦਰਸਨ ਕੀ ਮਨਿ ਆਸ ਘਨੇਰੀ ਕੋਈ ਐਸਾ ਸੰਤੁ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਪਿਰਹਿ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
dharasan kee man aas ghaneree koiee aaisaa sa(n)t mo kau pireh milaavai ||1|| rahaau ||
My mind's desire for the Blessed Vision of His Darshan is so great. Is there any Saint who can lead me to meet my Beloved? ||1||Pause||
ਚਾਰਿ ਪਹਰ ਚਹੁ ਜੁਗਹ ਸਮਾਨੇ ॥
chaar pahar chahu jugeh samaane ||
The four watches of the day are like the four ages.
ਰੈਣਿ ਭਈ ਤਬ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਨੇ ॥੨॥
rain bhiee tab a(n)t na jaane ||2||
And when night comes, I think that it shall never end. ||2||
ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤ ਮਿਲਿ ਪਿਰਹੁ ਵਿਛੋੜੀ ॥
pa(n)ch dhoot mil pirahu vichhoRee ||
The five demons have joined together, to separate me from my Husband Lord.
ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਰੋਵੈ ਹਾਥ ਪਛੋੜੀ ॥੩॥
bhram bhram rovai haath pachhoRee ||3||
Wandering and rambling, I cry out and wring my hands. ||3||
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸੁ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥
jan naanak kau har dharas dhikhaiaa ||
The Lord has revealed the Blessed Vision of His Darshan to servant Nanak;
ਆਤਮੁ ਚੀਨਿੑ ਪਰਮ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੧੫॥
aatam cheeni(h) param sukh paiaa ||4||15||
realizing his own self, he has obtained supreme peace. ||4||15||
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
aasaa mahalaa panjavaa ||
Aasaa, Fifth Mehla:
ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਮਹਿ ਪਰਮ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥
har sevaa meh param nidhaan ||
In the Lord's service, are the greatest treasures.
ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੧॥
har sevaa mukh a(n)mirat naam ||1||
Serving the Lord, the Ambrosial Naam comes into one's mouth. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਾਥੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਖਾਈ ॥
har meraa saathee sa(n)g sakhaiee ||
The Lord is my Companion; He is with me, as my Help and Support.
ਦੁਖਿ ਸੁਖਿ ਸਿਮਰੀ ਤਹ ਮਉਜੂਦੁ ਜਮੁ ਬਪੁਰਾ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਕਹਾ ਡਰਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
dhukh sukh simaree teh maujoodh jam bapuraa mo kau kahaa ddaraiee ||1|| rahaau ||
In pain and pleasure, whenever I remember Him, He is present. How can the poor Messenger of Death frighten me now? ||1||Pause||
ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਓਟ ਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਤਾਣੁ ॥
har meree oT mai har kaa taan ||
The Lord is my Support; the Lord is my Power.
ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਖਾ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਦੀਬਾਣੁ ॥੨॥
har meraa sakhaa man maeh dheebaan ||2||
The Lord is my Friend; He is my mind's advisor. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਵੇਸਾਹੁ ॥
har meree poo(n)jee meraa har vesaahu ||
The Lord is my capital; the Lord is my credit.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਧਨੁ ਖਟੀ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਾਹੁ ॥੩॥
gurmukh dhan khaTee har meraa saahu ||3||
As Gurmukh, I earn the wealth, with the Lord as my Banker. ||3||
ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਮਤਿ ਆਵੈ ॥
gur kirapaa te ieh mat aavai ||
By Guru's Grace, this wisdom has come.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਅੰਕਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥੪॥੧੬॥
jan naanak har kai a(n)k samaavai ||4||16||
Servant Nanak has merged into the Being of the Lord. ||4||16||
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Aasaa, Fifth Mehla:
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਹੋਇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਤ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਈ ॥
prabh hoi kirapaal ta ih man laiee ||
When God shows His Mercy, then this mind is focused on Him.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਭੈ ਫਲ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥
satigur sev sabhai fal paiee ||1||
Serving the True Guru, all rewards are obtained. ||1||
ਮਨ ਕਿਉ ਬੈਰਾਗੁ ਕਰਹਿਗਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਪੂਰਾ ॥
man kiau bairaag karahigaa satigur meraa pooraa ||
O my mind, why are you so sad? My True Guru is Perfect.
ਮਨਸਾ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਸਭ ਸੁਖ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਰਿ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਭਰਪੂਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
manasaa kaa dhaataa sabh sukh nidhaan a(n)mirat sar sadh hee bharapooraa ||1|| rahaau ||
He is the Giver of blessings, the treasure of all comforts; His Ambrosial Pool of Nectar is always overflowing. ||1||Pause||
ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਰਿਦ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
charan kamal ridh a(n)tar dhaare ||
One who enshrines His Lotus Feet within the heart,
ਪ੍ਰਗਟੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਰਾਮ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥੨॥
pragaTee jot mile raam piaare ||2||
meets the Beloved Lord; the Divine Light is revealed to him. ||2||
ਪੰਚ ਸਖੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਗਾਇਆ ॥
pa(n)ch sakhee mil ma(n)gal gaiaa ||
The five companions have met together to sing the songs of joy.
ਅਨਹਦ ਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਦੁ ਵਜਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
anahadh baanee naadh vajaiaa ||3||
The unstruck melody, the sound current of the Naad, vibrates and resounds. ||3||
ਗੁਰੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤੁਠਾ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ॥
gur naanak tuThaa miliaa har rai ||
O Nanak, when the Guru is totally pleased, one meets the Lord, the King.
ਸੁਖਿ ਰੈਣਿ ਵਿਹਾਣੀ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥੪॥੧੭॥
sukh rain vihaanee sahaj subhai ||4||17||
Then, the night of one's life passes in peace and natural ease. ||4||17||
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
aasaa mahalaa panjavaa ||
Aasaa, Fifth Mehla:
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹਰਿ ਪਰਗਟੀ ਆਇਆ ॥
kar kirapaa har paragaTee aaiaa ||
Showing His Mercy, the Lord has revealed Himself to me.
ਮਿਲਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਧਨੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
mil satigur dhan pooraa paiaa ||1||
Meeting the True Guru, I have received the perfect wealth. ||1||
ਐਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚੀਐ ਭਾਈ ॥
aaisaa har dhan sa(n)cheeaai bhaiee ||
Gather such a wealth of the Lord, O Siblings of Destiny.
ਭਾਹਿ ਨ ਜਾਲੈ ਜਲਿ ਨਹੀ ਡੂਬੈ ਸੰਗੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਕਰਿ ਕਤਹੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bhaeh na jaalai jal nahee ddoobai sa(n)g chhodd kar katahu na jaiee ||1|| rahaau ||
It cannot be burned by fire, and water cannot drown it; it does not forsake society, or go anywhere else. ||1||Pause||
ਤੋਟਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਨਿਖੁਟਿ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
toT na aavai nikhuT na jai ||
It does not run short, and it does not run out.
ਖਾਇ ਖਰਚਿ ਮਨੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਅਘਾਇ ॥੨॥
khai kharach man rahiaa aghai ||2||
Eating and consuming it, the mind remains satisfied. ||2||
ਸੋ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਹੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਘਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚਾਣਾ ॥
so sach saahu jis ghar har dhan sa(n)chaanaa ||
He is the true banker, who gathers the wealth of the Lord within his own home.
ਇਸੁ ਧਨ ਤੇ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਵਰਸਾਣਾ ॥੩॥
eis dhan te sabh jag varasaanaa ||3||
With this wealth, the whole world profits. ||3||
ਤਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਿਸੁ ਪੁਰਬ ਲਿਖੇ ਕਾ ਲਹਣਾ ॥
tin har dhan paiaa jis purab likhe kaa lahanaa ||
He alone receives the Lord's wealth, who is pre-ordained to receive it.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਅੰਤਿ ਵਾਰ ਨਾਮੁ ਗਹਣਾ ॥੪॥੧੮॥
jan naanak a(n)t vaar naam gahanaa ||4||18||
O servant Nanak, at that very last moment, the Naam shall be your only decoration. ||4||18||
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
aasaa mahalaa panjavaa ||
Aasaa, Fifth Mehla:
ਜੈਸੇ ਕਿਰਸਾਣੁ ਬੋਵੈ ਕਿਰਸਾਨੀ ॥
jaise kirasaan bovai kirasaanee ||
Just like the farmer, He plants His crop,
ਕਾਚੀ ਪਾਕੀ ਬਾਢਿ ਪਰਾਨੀ ॥੧॥
kaachee paakee baadd paraanee ||1||
and, whether it is ripe or unripe, He cuts it down. ||1||
ਜੋ ਜਨਮੈ ਸੋ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਮੂਆ ॥
jo janamai so jaanahu mooaa ||
Just so, you must know this well, that whoever is born, shall die.
ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਭਗਤੁ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਹੈ ਥੀਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
govi(n)dh bhagat asathir hai theeaa ||1|| rahaau ||
Only the devotee of the Lord of the Universe becomes stable and permanent. ||1||Pause||
ਦਿਨ ਤੇ ਸਰਪਰ ਪਉਸੀ ਰਾਤਿ ॥
dhin te sarapar pausee raat ||
The day shall certainly be followed by the night.
ਰੈਣਿ ਗਈ ਫਿਰਿ ਹੋਇ ਪਰਭਾਤਿ ॥੨॥
rain giee fir hoi parabhaat ||2||
And when the night passes, the morning shall again dawn. ||2||
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਸੋਇ ਰਹੇ ਅਭਾਗੇ ॥
maiaa moh soi rahe abhaage ||
In the love of Maya, the unfortunate ones remain in sleep.
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਕੋ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਜਾਗੇ ॥੩॥
gur prasaadh ko viralaa jaage ||3||
By Guru's Grace, a rare few remain awake and aware. ||3||
