ਸੀਤਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਤਪਤਿ ਜਾਇ ॥੩॥
seetal har har naam simarat tapat jai ||3||
The Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is soothing and cool; remembering it in meditation, the inner fire is quenched. ||3||
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦ ਘਣਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਧੂਰਾ ॥
sookh sahaj aana(n)dh ghanaa naanak jan dhooraa ||
Peace, poise, and immense bliss, O Nanak, are obtained, when one becomes the dust of the feet of the humble servants of the Lord.
ਕਾਰਜ ਸਗਲੇ ਸਿਧਿ ਭਏ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੧੧੨॥
kaaraj sagale sidh bhe bheTiaa gur pooraa ||4||10||112||
All of one's affairs are perfectly resolved, meeting with the Perfect Guru. ||4||10||112||
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
aasaa mahalaa panjavaa ||
Aasaa, Fifth Mehla:
ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ ਗੁਣੀ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਣੀਐ ॥
gobi(n)dh gunee nidhaan gurmukh jaaneeaai ||
The Lord of the Universe is the treasure of excellence; He is known only to the Gurmukh.
ਹੋਇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਾਣੀਐ ॥੧॥
hoi kirapaal dhiaal har ra(n)g maaneeaai ||1||
When He shows His Mercy and Kindness, we revel in the Lord's Love. ||1||
ਆਵਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲਾਹ ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਕਹਾਣੀਆ ॥
aavahu sa(n)t milaeh har kathaa kahaaneeaa ||
Come, O Saints - let us join together and speak the Sermon of the Lord.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਿਮਰਹ ਨਾਮੁ ਤਜਿ ਲਾਜ ਲੋਕਾਣੀਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
anadhin simareh naam taj laaj lokaaneeaa ||1|| rahaau ||
Night and day, meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and ignore the criticism of others. ||1||Pause||
ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਅਨਦੁ ਘਣਾ ॥
jap jap jeevaa naam hovai anadh ghanaa ||
I live by chanting and meditating on the Naam, and so I obtain immense bliss.
ਮਿਥਿਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਝੂਠਾ ਵਿਣਸਣਾ ॥੨॥
mithiaa moh sa(n)saar jhooThaa vinasanaa ||2||
Attachment to the world is useless and vain; it is false, and perishes in the end. ||2||
ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਸੰਗਿ ਨੇਹੁ ਕਿਨੈ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
charan kamal sa(n)g neh kinai viralai laiaa ||
How rare are those who embrace love for the Lord's Lotus Feet.
ਧੰਨੁ ਸੁਹਾਵਾ ਮੁਖੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੩॥
dha(n)n suhaavaa mukh jin har dhiaaiaa ||3||
Blessed and beautiful is that mouth, which meditates on the Lord. ||3||
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖ ਕਾਲ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਮਿਟਿ ਜਾਵਈ ॥
janam maran dhukh kaal simarat miT jaaviee ||
The pains of birth, death and reincarnation are erased by meditating on the Lord.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਸੋਇ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵਈ ॥੪॥੧੧॥੧੧੩॥
naanak kai sukh soi jo prabh bhaaviee ||4||11||113||
That alone is Nanak's joy, which is pleasing to God. ||4||11||113||
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
aasaa mahalaa panjavaa ||
Aasaa, Fifth Mehla:
ਆਵਹੁ ਮੀਤ ਇਕਤ੍ਰ ਹੋਇ ਰਸ ਕਸ ਸਭਿ ਭੁੰਚਹ ॥
aavahu meet ikatr hoi ras kas sabh bhu(n)cheh ||
Come, O friends: let us meet together and enjoy all the tastes and flavors.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਹ ਮਿਲਿ ਪਾਪਾ ਮੁੰਚਹ ॥੧॥
a(n)mirat naam har har japeh mil paapaa mu(n)cheh ||1||
Let us join together and chant the Ambrosial Name of the Lord, Har, Har, and so wipe away our sins. ||1||
ਤਤੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਹੁ ਤਾ ਤੇ ਬਿਘਨੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ॥
tat veechaarahu sa(n)t janahu taa te bighan na laagai ||
Reflect upon the essence of reality, O Saintly beings, and no troubles shall afflict you.
ਖੀਨ ਭਏ ਸਭਿ ਤਸਕਰਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਨੁ ਜਾਗੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kheen bhe sabh tasakaraa gurmukh jan jaagai ||1|| rahaau ||
All of the thieves shall be destroyed, as the Gurmukhs remain wakeful. ||1||Pause||
ਬੁਧਿ ਗਰੀਬੀ ਖਰਚੁ ਲੈਹੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਬਿਖੁ ਜਾਰਹੁ ॥
budh gareebee kharach laih haumai bikh jaarahu ||
Take wisdom and humility as your supplies, and burn away the poison of pride.
ਸਾਚਾ ਹਟੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਸਉਦਾ ਵਖਰੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਾਪਾਰਹੁ ॥੨॥
saachaa haT pooraa saudhaa vakhar naam vaapaarahu ||2||
True is that shop, and perfect the transaction; deal only in the merchandise of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||2||
ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਧਨੁ ਅਰਪਿਆ ਸੇਈ ਪਤਿਵੰਤੇ ॥
jeeau pi(n)dd dhan arapiaa seiee pativa(n)te ||
They alone are accepted and approved, who dedicate their souls, bodies and wealth.
ਆਪਨੜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਣਿਆ ਨਿਤ ਕੇਲ ਕਰੰਤੇ ॥੩॥
aapanaRe prabh bhaaniaa nit kel kara(n)te ||3||
Those who are pleasing to their God, celebrate in happiness. ||3||
ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਮਦੁ ਜੋ ਪੀਵਤੇ ਬਿਖਲੀ ਪਤਿ ਕਮਲੀ ॥
dhuramat madh jo peevate bikhalee pat kamalee ||
Those fools, who drink in the wine of evil-mindedness, become the husbands of prostitutes.
ਰਾਮ ਰਸਾਇਣਿ ਜੋ ਰਤੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚ ਅਮਲੀ ॥੪॥੧੨॥੧੧੪॥
raam rasain jo rate naanak sach amalee ||4||12||114||
But those who are imbued with the sublime essence of the Lord, O Nanak, are intoxicated with the Truth. ||4||12||114||
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
aasaa mahalaa panjavaa ||
Aasaa, Fifth Mehla:
ਉਦਮੁ ਕੀਆ ਕਰਾਇਆ ਆਰੰਭੁ ਰਚਾਇਆ ॥
audham keeaa karaiaa aara(n)bh rachaiaa ||
I made the effort; I did it, and made a beginning.
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੇ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵਣਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
naam jape jap jeevanaa gur ma(n)tr dhiraRaiaa ||1||
I live by chanting and meditating on the Naam. The Guru has implanted this Mantra within me. ||1||
ਪਾਇ ਪਰਹ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਭਰਮੁ ਬਿਦਾਰਿਆ ॥
pai pareh satiguroo kai jin bharam bidhaariaa ||
I fall at the Feet of the True Guru, who has dispelled my doubts.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਜਿ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kar kirapaa prabh aapanee sach saaj savaariaa ||1|| rahaau ||
Bestowing His Mercy, God has dressed me, and decorated me with the Truth. ||1||Pause||
ਕਰੁ ਗਹਿ ਲੀਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਚੁ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਰਜਾਈ ॥
kar geh leene aapane sach hukam rajaiee ||
Taking me by the hand, He made me His own, through the True Order of His Command.
ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਦਿਤੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਸਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੨॥
jo prabh dhitee dhaat saa pooran vaddiaaiee ||2||
That gift which God gave to me, is perfect greatness. ||2||
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈਅਹਿ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥
sadhaa sadhaa gun gaie'eeh jap naam muraaree ||
Forever and ever, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, and chant the Name of the Destroyer of ego.
ਨੇਮੁ ਨਿਬਾਹਿਓ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
nem nibaahio satiguroo prabh kirapaa dhaaree ||3||
My vows have been honored, by the Grace of God and the True Guru, who has showered His Mercy. ||3||
ਨਾਮੁ ਧਨੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ਲਾਭੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਗੁਰਿ ਦਿਤਾ ॥
naam dhan gun gaau laabh poorai gur dhitaa ||
The Perfect Guru has given the wealth of the Naam, and the profit of singing the Lord's Glorious Praises.
ਵਣਜਾਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਾਹੁ ਅਮਿਤਾ ॥੪॥੧੩॥੧੧੫॥
vanajaare sa(n)t naanakaa prabh saahu amitaa ||4||13||115||
The Saints are the traders, O Nanak, and the Infinite Lord God is their Banker. ||4||13||115||

Aasaa, Fifth Mehla:
ਜਾ ਕਾ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਤੁਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਵਡਭਾਗਾ ॥
jaa kaa Thaakur tuhee prabh taa ke vaddabhaagaa ||
One who has You as His Master, O God, is blessed with great destiny.
ਓਹੁ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ਸਦ ਸੁਖੀ ਸਭੁ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਭਾਗਾ ॥੧॥
oh suhelaa sadh sukhee sabh bhram bhau bhaagaa ||1||
He is happy, and forever at peace; his doubts and fears are all dispelled. ||1||
ਹਮ ਚਾਕਰ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਕੇ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਭਾਰਾ ॥
ham chaakar gobi(n)dh ke Thaakur meraa bhaaraa ||
I am the slave of the Lord of the Universe; my Master is the greatest of all.
ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨ ਸਗਲ ਬਿਧਿ ਸੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
karan karaavan sagal bidh so satiguroo hamaaraa ||1|| rahaau ||
He is the Creator, the Cause of causes; He is my True Guru. ||1||Pause||
ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਅਉਰੁ ਕੋ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਭਉ ਕਰੀਐ ॥
dhoojaa naahee aaur ko taa kaa bhau kareeaai ||
There is no other whom I should fear.
