ਜਿ ਤੁਧ ਨੋ ਸਾਲਾਹੇ ਸੁ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਕੇਰੀ ॥
j tudh no saalaahe su sabh kichh paavai jis no kirapaa nira(n)jan keree ||
One who praises You obtains everything; You bestow Your Mercy upon him, O Immaculate Lord.
ਸੋਈ ਸਾਹੁ ਸਚਾ ਵਣਜਾਰਾ ਜਿਨਿ ਵਖਰੁ ਲਦਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਨੁ ਤੇਰੀ ॥
soiee saahu sachaa vanajaaraa jin vakhar ladhiaa har naam dhan teree ||
He alone is a true banker and trader, who loads the merchandise of the wealth of the Your Name, O Lord.
ਸਭਿ ਤਿਸੈ ਨੋ ਸਾਲਾਹਿਹੁ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਦੂਜੇ ਭਾਵ ਕੀ ਮਾਰਿ ਵਿਡਾਰੀ ਢੇਰੀ ॥੧੬॥
sabh tisai no saalaahih sa(n)tahu jin dhooje bhaav kee maar viddaaree dderee ||16||
O Saints, let everyone praise the Lord, who has destroyed the pile of the love of duality. ||16||

ਕਬੀਰਾ ਮਰਤਾ ਮਰਤਾ ਜਗੁ ਮੁਆ ਮਰਿ ਭਿ ਨ ਜਾਨੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
kabeeraa marataa marataa jag muaa mar bh na jaanai koi ||
Kabeer, the world is dying - dying to death, but no one knows how to truly die.
ਐਸੀ ਮਰਨੀ ਜੋ ਮਰੈ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਮਰਨਾ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥
aaisee maranee jo marai bahur na maranaa hoi ||1||
Whoever dies, let him die such a death, that he does not have to die again. ||1||

Third Mehla:
ਕਿਆ ਜਾਣਾ ਕਿਵ ਮਰਹਗੇ ਕੈਸਾ ਮਰਣਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
kiaa jaanaa kiv marahage kaisaa maranaa hoi ||
What do I know? How will I die? What sort of death will it be?
ਜੇ ਕਰਿ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਮਨਹੁ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਤਾ ਸਹਿਲਾ ਮਰਣਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
je kar saahib manahu na veesarai taa sahilaa maranaa hoi ||
If I do not forget the Lord Master from my mind, then my death will be easy.
ਮਰਣੈ ਤੇ ਜਗਤੁ ਡਰੈ ਜੀਵਿਆ ਲੋੜੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥
maranai te jagat ddarai jeeviaa loRai sabh koi ||
The world is terrified of death; everyone longs to live.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਜੀਵਤੁ ਮਰੈ ਹੁਕਮੈ ਬੂਝੈ ਸੋਇ ॥
gur parasaadhee jeevat marai hukamai boojhai soi ||
By Guru's Grace, one who dies while yet alive, understands the Lord's Will.
ਨਾਨਕ ਐਸੀ ਮਰਨੀ ਜੋ ਮਰੈ ਤਾ ਸਦ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
naanak aaisee maranee jo marai taa sadh jeevan hoi ||2||
O Nanak, one who dies such a death, lives forever. ||2||

Pauree:
ਜਾ ਆਪਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤਾ ਆਪਣਾਂ ਨਾਉ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਜਪਾਵੈ ॥
jaa aap kirapaal hovai har suaamee taa aapanaa(n) naau har aap japaavai ||
When the Lord Master Himself becomes merciful, the Lord Himself causes His Name to be chanted.
ਆਪੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਆਪਣਾਂ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਆਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
aape satigur mel sukh dhevai aapanaa(n) sevak aap har bhaavai ||
He Himself causes us to meet the True Guru, and blesses us with peace. His servant is pleasing to the Lord.
ਆਪਣਿਆ ਸੇਵਕਾ ਕੀ ਆਪਿ ਪੈਜ ਰਖੈ ਆਪਣਿਆ ਭਗਤਾ ਕੀ ਪੈਰੀ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
aapaniaa sevakaa kee aap paij rakhai aapaniaa bhagataa kee pairee paavai ||
He Himself preserves the honor of His servants; He causes others to fall at the feet of His devotees.
ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਕੀਆ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
dharam rai hai har kaa keeaa har jan sevak neR na aavai ||
The Righteous Judge of Dharma is a creation of the Lord; he does not approach the humble servant of the Lord.
ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਸੋ ਸਭਨਾ ਕਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੇਤੀ ਝਖਿ ਝਖਿ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਵੈ ॥੧੭॥
jo har kaa piaaraa so sabhanaa kaa piaaraa hor ketee jhakh jhakh aavai jaavai ||17||
One who is dear to the Lord, is dear to all; so many others come and go in vain. ||17||
ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੩ ॥

Shalok, Third Mehla:
ਰਾਮੁ ਰਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਫਿਰੈ ਰਾਮੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
raam raam karataa sabh jag firai raam na paiaa jai ||
The entire world roams around, chanting, ""Raam, Raam, Lord, Lord"", but the Lord cannot be obtained like this.
ਅਗਮੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਅਤਿ ਵਡਾ ਅਤੁਲੁ ਨ ਤੁਲਿਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
agam agochar at vaddaa atul na tuliaa jai ||
He is inaccessible, unfathomable and so very great; He is unweighable, and cannot be weighed.
ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਈਆ ਕਿਤੈ ਨ ਲਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
keemat kinai na paieeaa kitai na liaa jai ||
No one can evaluate Him; He cannot be purchased at any price.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਭੇਦਿਆ ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥
gur kai sabadh bhedhiaa in bidh vasiaa man aai ||
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, His mystery is known; in this way, He comes to dwell in the mind.
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪਿ ਅਮੇਉ ਹੈ ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
naanak aap ameau hai gur kirapaa te rahiaa samai ||
O Nanak, He Himself is infinite; by Guru's Grace, He is known to be permeating and pervading everywhere.
ਆਪੇ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਆਪੇ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਆਇ ॥੧॥
aape miliaa mil rahiaa aape miliaa aai ||1||
He Himself comes to blend, and having blended, remains blended. ||1||

ਏ ਮਨ ਇਹੁ ਧਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਤੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
e man ih dhan naam hai jit sadhaa sadhaa sukh hoi ||
O my soul, this is the wealth of the Naam; through it, comes peace, forever and ever.
ਤੋਟਾ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਲਾਹਾ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਹੋਇ ॥
toTaa mool na aaviee laahaa sadh hee hoi ||
It never brings any loss; through it, one earns profits forever.
ਖਾਧੈ ਖਰਚਿਐ ਤੋਟਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਓਹੁ ਦੇਇ ॥
khaadhai kharachiaai toT na aaviee sadhaa sadhaa oh dhei ||
Eating and spending it, it never decreases; He continues to give, forever and ever.
ਸਹਸਾ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਹਾਣਤ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
sahasaa mool na hoviee haanat kadhe na hoi ||
One who has no skepticism at all never suffers humiliation.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥੨॥
naanak gurmukh paieeaai jaa kau nadhar karei ||2||
O Nanak, the Gurmukh obtains the Name of the Lord, when the Lord bestows His Glance of Grace. ||2||

Pauree:
ਆਪੇ ਸਭ ਘਟ ਅੰਦਰੇ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਬਾਹਰਿ ॥
aape sabh ghaT a(n)dhare aape hee baahar ||
He Himself is deep within all hearts, and He Himself is outside them.
ਆਪੇ ਗੁਪਤੁ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਜਾਹਰਿ ॥
aape gupat varatadhaa aape hee jaahar ||
He Himself is prevailing unmanifest, and He Himself is manifest.
ਜੁਗ ਛਤੀਹ ਗੁਬਾਰੁ ਕਰਿ ਵਰਤਿਆ ਸੁੰਨਾਹਰਿ ॥
jug chhateeh gubaar kar varatiaa su(n)naahar ||
For thirty-six ages, He created the darkness, abiding in the void.
ਓਥੈ ਵੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਨ ਸਾਸਤਾ ਆਪੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਰਹਰਿ ॥
othai vedh puraan na saasataa aape har narahar ||
There were no Vedas, Puraanas or Shaastras there; only the Lord Himself existed.
ਬੈਠਾ ਤਾੜੀ ਲਾਇ ਆਪਿ ਸਭ ਦੂ ਹੀ ਬਾਹਰਿ ॥
baiThaa taaRee lai aap sabh dhoo hee baahar ||
He Himself sat in the absolute trance, withdrawn from everything.
ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਤਿ ਆਪਿ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਗਉਹਰੁ ॥੧੮॥
aapanee mit aap jaanadhaa aape hee gauhar ||18||
Only He Himself knows His state; He Himself is the unfathomable ocean. ||18||

Shalok, Third Mehla:
ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਜਗਤੁ ਮੁਆ ਮਰਦੋ ਮਰਦਾ ਜਾਇ ॥
haumai vich jagat muaa maradho maradhaa jai ||
In egotism, the world is dead; it dies and dies, again and again.
