ਰਤਨੁ ਲੁਕਾਇਆ ਲੂਕੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਜੇ ਕੋ ਰਖੈ ਲੁਕਾਈ ॥੪॥
ratan lukaiaa lookai naahee je ko rakhai lukaiee ||4||
The jewel is concealed, but it is not concealed, even though one may try to conceal it. ||4||
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਤੂ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਤੂ ਸਭਨਾ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਈ ॥
sabh kichh teraa too a(n)tarajaamee too sabhanaa kaa prabh soiee ||
Everything is Yours, O Inner-knower, Searcher of hearts; You are the Lord God of all.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਦਾਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੋ ਪਾਏ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥੫॥੯॥
jis no dhaat kareh so paae jan naanak avar na koiee ||5||9||
He alone receives the gift, unto whom You give it; O servant Nanak, there is no one else. ||5||9||
ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ਘਰੁ ੧ ਤਿਤੁਕੇ

Sorat'h, Fifth Mehla, First House, Thi-Thukay:
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ikOankaar satigur prasaadh ||
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਕਿਸ ਹਉ ਜਾਚੀ ਕਿਸ ਆਰਾਧੀ ਜਾ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਸੀ ॥
kis hau jaachee kis aaraadhee jaa sabh ko keetaa hosee ||
Who should I ask? Who should I worship? All were created by Him.
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਦੀਸੈ ਵਡਾ ਵਡੇਰਾ ਸੋ ਸੋ ਖਾਕੂ ਰਲਸੀ ॥
jo jo dheesai vaddaa vadderaa so so khaakoo ralasee ||
Whoever appears to be the greatest of the great, shall ultimately be mixed with the dust.
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ਭਵ ਖੰਡਨੁ ਸਭਿ ਸੁਖ ਨਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਦੇਸੀ ॥੧॥
nirabhau nira(n)kaar bhav kha(n)ddan sabh sukh nav nidh dhesee ||1||
The Fearless, Formless Lord, the Destroyer of Fear bestows all comforts, and the nine treasures. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਤੇਰੀ ਦਾਤੀ ਰਾਜਾ ॥
har jeeau teree dhaatee raajaa ||
O Dear Lord, Your gifts alone satisfy me.
ਮਾਣਸੁ ਬਪੁੜਾ ਕਿਆ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਕਿਆ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਮੁਹਤਾਜਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
maanas bapuRaa kiaa saalaahee kiaa tis kaa muhataajaa || rahaau ||
Why should I praise the poor helpless man? Why should I feel subservient to him? ||Pause||
ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਭੂਖ ਗਵਾਈ ॥
jin har dhiaaiaa sabh kichh tis kaa tis kee bhookh gavaiee ||
All things come to one who meditates on the Lord; the Lord satisfies his hunger.
ਐਸਾ ਧਨੁ ਦੀਆ ਸੁਖਦਾਤੈ ਨਿਖੁਟਿ ਨ ਕਬ ਹੀ ਜਾਈ ॥
aaisaa dhan dheeaa sukhadhaatai nikhuT na kab hee jaiee ||
The Lord, the Giver of peace, bestows such wealth, that it can never be exhausted.
ਅਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਣੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥੨॥
anadh bhiaa sukh sahaj samaane satigur mel milaiee ||2||
I am in ecstasy, absorbed in celestial peace; the True Guru has united me in His Union. ||2||
ਮਨ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਆਰਾਧਿ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਣੀ ॥
man naam jap naam aaraadh anadhin naam vakhaanee ||
O mind, chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord; worship the Naam, night and day, and recite the Naam.
ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਸੁਣਿ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਤਨ ਕਾ ਸਭ ਚੂਕੀ ਕਾਣਿ ਜਮਾਣੀ ॥
aupadhes sun saadh sa(n)tan kaa sabh chookee kaan jamaanee ||
Listen to the Teachings of the Holy Saints, and all fear of death will be dispelled.
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਹੋਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੇ ਲਾਗੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥੩॥
jin kau kirapaal hoaa prabh meraa se laage gur kee baanee ||3||
Those blessed by God's Grace are attached to the Word of the Guru's Bani. ||3||
ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਉਣੁ ਕਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੀ ਤੂ ਸਰਬ ਜੀਆ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
keemat kaun karai prabh teree too sarab jeeaa dhiaalaa ||
Who can estimate Your worth, God? You are kind and compassionate to all beings.
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਕੀਤਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਵਰਤੈ ਕਿਆ ਹਮ ਬਾਲ ਗੁਪਾਲਾ ॥
sabh kichh keetaa teraa varatai kiaa ham baal gupaalaa ||
Everything which You do, prevails; I am just a poor child - what can I do?
ਰਾਖਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਨੁ ਤੁਮਰਾ ਜਿਉ ਪਿਤਾ ਪੂਤ ਕਿਰਪਾਲਾ ॥੪॥੧॥
raakh leh naanak jan tumaraa jiau pitaa poot kirapaalaa ||4||1||
Protect and preserve Your servant Nanak; be kind to him, like a father to his son. ||4||1||
ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ਘਰੁ ੧ ਚੌਤੁਕੇ ॥
soraTh mahalaa panjavaa ghar pehilaa chauatuke ||
Sorat'h, Fifth Mehla, First House, Chau-Thukay:
ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ਸਲਾਹੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਧਾਰ ॥
gur govi(n)dh salaaheeaai bhaiee man tan hiradhai dhaar ||
Praise the Guru, and the Lord of the Universe, O Siblings of Destiny; enshrine Him in your mind, body and heart.
ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਭਾਈ ਏਹਾ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਰ ॥
saachaa saahib man vasai bhaiee ehaa karanee saar ||
Let the True Lord and Master abide in your mind, O Siblings of Destiny; this is the most excellent way of life.
ਜਿਤੁ ਤਨਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਊਪਜੈ ਭਾਈ ਸੇ ਤਨ ਹੋਏ ਛਾਰ ॥
jit tan naam na uoopajai bhaiee se tan hoe chhaar ||
Those bodies, in which the Name of the Lord does not well up, O Siblings of Destiny - those bodies are reduced to ashes.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਕਉ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਭਾਈ ਜਿਨ ਏਕੰਕਾਰ ਅਧਾਰ ॥੧॥
saadhasa(n)gat kau vaariaa bhaiee jin eka(n)kaar adhaar ||1||
I am a sacrifice to the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, O Siblings of Destiny; they take the Support of the One and Only Lord. ||1||
ਸੋਈ ਸਚੁ ਅਰਾਧਣਾ ਭਾਈ ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
soiee sach araadhanaa bhaiee jis te sabh kichh hoi ||
So worship and adore that True Lord, O Siblings of Destiny; He alone does everything.
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਜਾਣਾਇਆ ਭਾਈ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur poorai jaanaiaa bhaiee tis bin avar na koi || rahaau ||
The Perfect Guru has taught me, O Siblings of Destiny, that without Him, there is no other at all. ||Pause||
ਨਾਮ ਵਿਹੂਣੇ ਪਚਿ ਮੁਏ ਭਾਈ ਗਣਤ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਗਣੀ ॥
naam vihoone pach mue bhaiee ganat na jai ganee ||
Without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, they putrefy and die, O Siblings of Destiny; their numbers cannot be counted.
ਵਿਣੁ ਸਚ ਸੋਚ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਭਾਈ ਸਾਚਾ ਅਗਮ ਧਣੀ ॥
vin sach soch na paieeaai bhaiee saachaa agam dhanee ||
Without Truth, purity cannot be achieved, O Siblings of Destiny; the Lord is true and unfathomable.
ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੁ ਨ ਚੁਕਈ ਭਾਈ ਝੂਠੀ ਦੁਨੀ ਮਣੀ ॥
aavan jaan na chukiee bhaiee jhooThee dhunee manee ||
Coming and going do not end, O Siblings of Destiny; pride in worldly valuables is false.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕੋਟਿ ਉਧਾਰਦਾ ਭਾਈ ਦੇ ਨਾਵੈ ਏਕ ਕਣੀ ॥੨॥
gurmukh koT udhaaradhaa bhaiee dhe naavai ek kanee ||2||
The Gurmukh saves millions of people, O Siblings of Destiny, blessing them with even a particle of the Name. ||2||
ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਾਸਤ ਸੋਧਿਆ ਭਾਈ ਵਿਣੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭਰਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
si(n)mirat saasat sodhiaa bhaiee vin satigur bharam na jai ||
I have searched through the Simritees and the Shaastras, O Siblings of Destiny - without the True Guru, doubt does not depart.
ਅਨਿਕ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਿ ਥਾਕਿਆ ਭਾਈ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਬੰਧਨ ਪਾਇ ॥
anik karam kar thaakiaa bhaiee fir fir ba(n)dhan pai ||
They are so tired of performing their many deeds, O Siblings of Destiny, but they fall into bondage again and again.
ਚਾਰੇ ਕੁੰਡਾ ਸੋਧੀਆ ਭਾਈ ਵਿਣੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਾਇ ॥
chaare ku(n)ddaa sodheeaa bhaiee vin satigur naahee jai ||
I have searched in the four directions, O Siblings of Destiny, but without the True Guru, there is no place at all.
