ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਸਾਧ ਸਰਣਿ ਛੁਟਕਾਰਾ ॥
mere man saadh saran chhuTakaaraa ||
O my mind, emancipation is attained in the Sanctuary of the Holy Saints.
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣੁ ਨ ਰਹਈ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵਤ ਬਾਰੋ ਬਾਰਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bin gur poore janam maran na rahiee fir aavat baaro baaraa || rahaau ||
Without the Perfect Guru, births and deaths do not cease, and one comes and goes, over and over again. ||Pause||
ਓਹੁ ਜੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਭੁਲਾਵਾ ਕਹੀਅਤ ਤਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਉਰਝਿਓ ਸਗਲ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥
ohu ju bharam bhulaavaa kaheeat tin meh urajhio sagal sa(n)saaraa ||
The whole world is entangled in what is called the delusion of doubt.
ਪੂਰਨ ਭਗਤੁ ਪੁਰਖ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕਾ ਸਰਬ ਥੋਕ ਤੇ ਨਿਆਰਾ ॥੨॥
pooran bhagat purakh suaamee kaa sarab thok te niaaraa ||2||
The perfect devotee of the Primal Lord God remains detached from everything. ||2||
ਨਿੰਦਉ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਾਹੂ ਬਾਤੈ ਏਹੁ ਖਸਮ ਕਾ ਕੀਆ ॥
ni(n)dhau naahee kaahoo baatai eh khasam kaa keeaa ||
Don't indulge in slander for any reason, for everything is the creation of the Lord and Master.
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਮੇਰੈ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਨਾਉ ਲੀਆ ॥੩॥
jaa kau kirapaa karee prabh merai mil saadhasa(n)gat naau leeaa ||3||
One who is blessed with the Mercy of my God, dwells on the Name in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||3||
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਭਨਾ ਕਰਤ ਉਧਾਰਾ ॥
paarabraham paramesur satigur sabhanaa karat udhaaraa ||
The Supreme Lord God, the Transcendent Lord, the True Guru, saves all.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਹੀ ਤਰੀਐ ਇਹੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਤਤੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥੪॥੯॥
kahu naanak gur bin nahee tareeaai ih pooran tat beechaaraa ||4||9||
Says Nanak, without the Guru, no one crosses over; this is the perfect essence of all contemplation. ||4||9||
ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
soraTh mahalaa panjavaa ||
Sorat'h, Fifth Mehla:
ਖੋਜਤ ਖੋਜਤ ਖੋਜਿ ਬੀਚਾਰਿਓ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਤਤੁ ਸਾਰਾ ॥
khojat khojat khoj beechaario raam naam tat saaraa ||
I have searched and searched and searched, and found that the Lord's Name is the most sublime reality.
ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਕਾਟੇ ਨਿਮਖ ਅਰਾਧਿਆ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਾਰਾ ॥੧॥
kilabikh kaaTe nimakh araadhiaa gurmukh paar utaaraa ||1||
Contemplating it for even an instant, sins are erased; the Gurmukh is carried across and saved. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਵਹੁ ਪੁਰਖ ਗਿਆਨੀ ॥
har ras peevahu purakh giaanee ||
Drink in the sublime essence of the Lord's Name, O man of spiritual wisdom.
ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਮਹਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਮਨੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਸਾਧੂ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਨੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sun sun mahaa tirapat man paavai saadhoo a(n)mirat baanee || rahaau ||
Listening to the Ambrosial Words of the Holy Saints, the mind finds absolute fulfillment and satisfaction. ||Pause||
ਮੁਕਤਿ ਭੁਗਤਿ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖਾ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾ ॥
mukat bhugat jugat sach paieeaai sarab sukhaa kaa dhaataa ||
Liberation, pleasures, and the true way of life are obtained from the Lord, the Giver of all peace.
ਅਪੁਨੇ ਦਾਸ ਕਉ ਭਗਤਿ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥੨॥
apune dhaas kau bhagat dhaan dhevai pooran purakh bidhaataa ||2||
The Perfect Lord, the Architect of Destiny, blesses His slave with the gift of devotional worship. ||2||
ਸ੍ਰਵਣੀ ਸੁਣੀਐ ਰਸਨਾ ਗਾਈਐ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਸੋਈ ॥
sravanee suneeaai rasanaa gaieeaai hiradhai dhiaaieeaai soiee ||
Hear with your ears, and sing with your tongue, and meditate within your heart on Him.
ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਮਰਥ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜਾ ਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਿਥਾ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥੩॥
karan kaaran samarath suaamee jaa te birathaa na koiee ||3||
The Lord and Master is all-powerful, the Cause of causes; without Him, there is nothing at all. ||3||
ਵਡੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਰਤਨ ਜਨਮੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਕਰਹੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਿਰਪਾਲਾ ॥
vaddai bhaag ratan janam paiaa karahu kirapaa kirapaalaa ||
By great good fortune, I have obtained the jewel of human life; have mercy on me, O Merciful Lord.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਸਿਮਰੈ ਸਦਾ ਗੋੁਪਾਲਾ ॥੪॥੧੦॥
saadhasa(n)g naanak gun gaavai simarai sadhaa guopaalaa ||4||10||
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, Nanak sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord, and contemplates Him forever in meditation. ||4||10||
ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Sorat'h, Fifth Mehla:
ਕਰਿ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਮਨ ਤਨ ਭਏ ਅਰੋਗਾ ॥
kar isanaan simar prabh apanaa man tan bhe arogaa ||
After taking your cleansing bath, remember your God in meditation, and your mind and body shall be free of disease.
ਕੋਟਿ ਬਿਘਨ ਲਾਥੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੇ ਭਲੇ ਸੰਜੋਗਾ ॥੧॥
koT bighan laathe prabh saranaa pragaTe bhale sa(n)jogaa ||1||
Millions of obstacles are removed, in the Sanctuary of God, and good fortune dawns. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਭਾਖਿਆ ॥
prabh baanee sabadh subhaakhiaa ||
The Word of God's Bani, and His Shabad, are the best utterances.
ਗਾਵਹੁ ਸੁਣਹੁ ਪੜਹੁ ਨਿਤ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੈ ਤੂ ਰਾਖਿਆ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gaavahu sunahu paRahu nit bhaiee gur poorai too raakhiaa || rahaau ||
So constantly sing them, listen to them, and read them, O Siblings of Destiny, and the Perfect Guru shall save you. ||Pause||
ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਅਮਿਤਿ ਵਡਾਈ ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
saachaa saahib amit vaddaiee bhagat vachhal dhiaalaa ||
The glorious greatness of the True Lord is immeasurable; the Merciful Lord is the Lover of His devotees.
ਸੰਤਾ ਕੀ ਪੈਜ ਰਖਦਾ ਆਇਆ ਆਦਿ ਬਿਰਦੁ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਾ ॥੨॥
sa(n)taa kee paij rakhadhaa aaiaa aadh biradh pratipaalaa ||2||
He has preserved the honor of His Saints; from the very beginning of time, His Nature is to cherish them. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਨਿਤ ਭੁੰਚਹੁ ਸਰਬ ਵੇਲਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਵਹੁ ॥
har a(n)mirat naam bhojan nit bhu(n)chahu sarab velaa mukh paavahu ||
So eat the Ambrosial Name of the Lord as your food; put it into your mouth at all times.
ਜਰਾ ਮਰਾ ਤਾਪੁ ਸਭੁ ਨਾਠਾ ਗੁਣ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨਿਤ ਗਾਵਹੁ ॥੩॥
jaraa maraa taap sabh naaThaa gun gobi(n)dh nit gaavahu ||3||
The pains of old age and death shall all depart, when you constantly sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe. ||3||
ਸੁਣੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮੇਰੈ ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਬਣਿ ਆਈ ॥
sunee aradhaas suaamee merai sarab kalaa ban aaiee ||
My Lord and Master has heard my prayer, and all my affairs have been resolved.
ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਭਈ ਸਗਲੇ ਜੁਗ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੪॥੧੧॥
pragaT bhiee sagale jug a(n)tar gur naanak kee vaddiaaiee ||4||11||
The glorious greatness of Guru Nanak is manifest, throughout all the ages. ||4||11||
ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ਘਰੁ ੨ ਚਉਪਦੇ
soraTh mahalaa panjavaa ghar doojaa chaupadhe
Sorat'h, Fifth Mehla, Second House, Chau-Padhay:
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ikOankaar satigur prasaadh ||
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਏਕੁ ਪਿਤਾ ਏਕਸ ਕੇ ਹਮ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਤੂ ਮੇਰਾ ਗੁਰ ਹਾਈ ॥
ek pitaa ekas ke ham baarik too meraa gur haiee ||
The One God is our father; we are the children of the One God. You are our Guru.
ਸੁਣਿ ਮੀਤਾ ਜੀਉ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਸੀ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਹੁ ਦਿਖਾਈ ॥੧॥
sun meetaa jeeau hamaaraa bal bal jaasee har dharasan dheh dhikhaiee ||1||
Listen, friends: my soul is a sacrifice, a sacrifice to You; O Lord, reveal to me the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan. ||1||
