ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜਉ ਤੁਮਹਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਓ ਤਉ ਸੁਨੀ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
saadhasa(n)g jau tumeh milaio tau sunee tumaaree baanee ||
When You brought me to the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, then I heard the Bani of Your Word.
ਅਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਪੇਖਤ ਹੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਪੁਰਖ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੀ ॥੪॥੭॥੧੮॥
anadh bhiaa pekhat hee naanak prataap purakh nirabaanee ||4||7||18||
Nanak is in ecstasy, beholding the Glory of the Primal Lord of Nirvaanaa. ||4||7||18||
ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Sorat'h, Fifth Mehla:
ਹਮ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਰੇਨੁ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਹਮ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਾ ॥
ham sa(n)tan kee ren piaare ham sa(n)tan kee saranaa ||
I am the dust of the feet of the Beloved Saints; I seek the Protection of their Sanctuary.
ਸੰਤ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਓਟ ਸਤਾਣੀ ਸੰਤ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਗਹਣਾ ॥੧॥
sa(n)t hamaaree oT sataanee sa(n)t hamaaraa gahanaa ||1||
The Saints are my all-powerful Support; the Saints are my ornament and decoration. ||1||
ਹਮ ਸੰਤਨ ਸਿਉ ਬਣਿ ਆਈ ॥
ham sa(n)tan siau ban aaiee ||
I am hand and glove with the Saints.
ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਪਾਈ ॥
poorab likhiaa paiee ||
I have realized my pre-ordained destiny.
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਭਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
eih man teraa bhaiee || rahaau ||
This mind is yours, O Siblings of Destiny. ||Pause||
ਸੰਤਨ ਸਿਉ ਮੇਰੀ ਲੇਵਾ ਦੇਵੀ ਸੰਤਨ ਸਿਉ ਬਿਉਹਾਰਾ ॥
sa(n)tan siau meree levaa dhevee sa(n)tan siau biauhaaraa ||
My dealings are with the Saints, and my business is with the Saints.
ਸੰਤਨ ਸਿਉ ਹਮ ਲਾਹਾ ਖਾਟਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
sa(n)tan siau ham laahaa khaaTiaa har bhagat bhare bha(n)ddaaraa ||2||
I have earned the profit with the Saints, and the treasure filled to over-flowing with devotion to the Lord. ||2||
ਸੰਤਨ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਸਉਪੀ ਤਉ ਉਤਰਿਆ ਮਨ ਕਾ ਧੋਖਾ ॥
sa(n)tan mo kau poo(n)jee saupee tau utariaa man kaa dhokhaa ||
The Saints entrusted to me the capital, and my mind's delusion was dispelled.
ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ਅਬ ਕਹਾ ਕਰੈਗੋ ਜਉ ਫਾਟਿਓ ਸਗਲੋ ਲੇਖਾ ॥੩॥
dharam rai ab kahaa karaigo jau faaTio sagalo lekhaa ||3||
What can the Righteous Judge of Dharma do now? All my accounts have been torn up. ||3||
ਮਹਾ ਅਨੰਦ ਭਏ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਪਰਸਾਦੇ ॥
mahaa ana(n)dh bhe sukh paiaa sa(n)tan kai parasaadhe ||
I have found the greatest bliss, and I am at peace, by the Grace of the Saints.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤੇ ਬਿਸਮਾਦੇ ॥੪॥੮॥੧੯॥
kahu naanak har siau man maaniaa ra(n)g rate bisamaadhe ||4||8||19||
Says Nanak, my mind is reconciled with the Lord; it is imbued with the wondrous Love of the Lord. ||4||8||19||
ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਃ ੫ ॥
soraTh mahalaa panjavaa ||
Sorat'h, Fifth Mehla:
ਜੇਤੀ ਸਮਗ੍ਰੀ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਰੇ ਨਰ ਤੇਤੀ ਹੀ ਛਡਿ ਜਾਨੀ ॥
jetee samagree dhekhahu re nar tetee hee chhadd jaanee ||
All the things that you see, O man, you shall have to leave behind.
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਰਿ ਬਿਉਹਾਰਾ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਪਦੁ ਨਿਰਬਾਨੀ ॥੧॥
raam naam sa(n)g kar biauhaaraa paaveh padh nirabaanee ||1||
Let your dealings be with the Lord's Name, and you shall attain the state of Nirvaanaa. ||1||
ਪਿਆਰੇ ਤੂ ਮੇਰੋ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ॥
piaare too mero sukhadhaataa ||
O my Beloved, You are the Giver of peace.
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਦੀਆ ਉਪਦੇਸਾ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਪਰਾਤਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur poorai dheeaa upadhesaa tum hee sa(n)g paraataa || rahaau ||
The Perfect Guru has given me these Teachings, and I am attuned to You. ||Pause||
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਅਭਿਮਾਨਾ ਤਾ ਮਹਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
kaam karodh lobh moh abhimaanaa taa meh sukh nahee paieeaai ||
In sexual desire, anger, greed, emotional attachment and self-conceit, peace is not to be found.
ਹੋਹੁ ਰੇਨ ਤੂ ਸਗਲ ਕੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਤਉ ਅਨਦ ਮੰਗਲ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੨॥
hoh ren too sagal kee mere man tau anadh ma(n)gal sukh paieeaai ||2||
So be the dust of the feet of all, O my mind, and then you shall find bliss, joy and peace. ||2||
ਘਾਲ ਨ ਭਾਨੈ ਅੰਤਰ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਨੈ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕਰਿ ਮਨ ਸੇਵਾ ॥
ghaal na bhaanai a(n)tar bidh jaanai taa kee kar man sevaa ||
He knows the condition of your inner self, and He will not let your work go in vain - serve Him, O mind.
ਕਰਿ ਪੂਜਾ ਹੋਮਿ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੂਆ ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਗੁਰਦੇਵਾ ॥੩॥
kar poojaa hom ih manooaa akaal moorat gurdhevaa ||3||
Worship Him, and dedicate this mind unto Him, the Image of the Undying Lord, the Divine Guru. ||3||
ਗੋਬਿਦ ਦਾਮੋਦਰ ਦਇਆਲ ਮਾਧਵੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰਾ ॥
gobidh dhaamodhar dhiaal maadhave paarabraham nira(n)kaaraa ||
He is the Lord of the Universe, the Compassionate Lord, the Supreme Lord God, the Formless Lord.
ਨਾਮੁ ਵਰਤਣਿ ਨਾਮੋ ਵਾਲੇਵਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰਾ ॥੪॥੯॥੨੦॥
naam varatan naamo vaalevaa naam naanak praan adhaaraa ||4||9||20||
The Naam is my merchandise, the Naam is my nourishment; the Naam, O Nanak, is the Support of my breath of life. ||4||9||20||

Sorat'h, Fifth Mehla:
ਮਿਰਤਕ ਕਉ ਪਾਇਓ ਤਨਿ ਸਾਸਾ ਬਿਛੁਰਤ ਆਨਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥
mritak kau paio tan saasaa bichhurat aan milaiaa ||
He infuses the breath into the dead bodies, and he reunited the separated ones.
ਪਸੂ ਪਰੇਤ ਮੁਗਧ ਭਏ ਸ੍ਰੋਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਗਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
pasoo paret mugadh bhe srote har naamaa mukh gaiaa ||1||
Even beasts, demons and fools become attentive listeners, when He sings the Praises of the Lord's Name. ||1||
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਦੇਖੁ ਵਡਾਈ ॥
poore gur kee dhekh vaddaiee ||
Behold the glorious greatness of the Perfect Guru.
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
taa kee keemat kahan na jaiee || rahaau ||
His worth cannot be described. ||Pause||
ਦੂਖ ਸੋਗ ਕਾ ਢਾਹਿਓ ਡੇਰਾ ਅਨਦ ਮੰਗਲ ਬਿਸਰਾਮਾ ॥
dhookh sog kaa ddaahio dderaa anadh ma(n)gal bisaraamaa ||
He has demolished the abode of sorrow and disease, and brought bliss, joy and happiness.
ਮਨ ਬਾਂਛਤ ਫਲ ਮਿਲੇ ਅਚਿੰਤਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਏ ਕਾਮਾ ॥੨॥
man baa(n)chhat fal mile achi(n)taa pooran hoe kaamaa ||2||
He effortlessly awards the fruits of the mind's desire, and all works are brought to perfection. ||2||
ਈਹਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਆਗੈ ਮੁਖ ਊਜਲ ਮਿਟਿ ਗਏ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੇ ॥
e'eehaa sukh aagai mukh uoojal miT ge aavan jaane ||
He finds peace in this world, and his face is radiant in the world hereafter; his comings and goings are finished.
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਭਏ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਣੇ ॥੩॥
nirabhau bhe hiradhai naam vasiaa apune satigur kai man bhaane ||3||
He becomes fearless, and his heart is filled with the Naam, the Name of the Lord; his mind is pleasing to the True Guru. ||3||
ਊਠਤ ਬੈਠਤ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਦੂਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਾਗਾ ॥
uooThat baiThat har gun gaavai dhookh dharadh bhram bhaagaa ||
Standing up and sitting down, he sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord; his pain, sorrow and doubt are dispelled.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਪੂਰ ਕਰੰਮਾ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਨੀ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੨੧॥
kahu naanak taa ke poor kara(n)maa jaa kaa gur charanee man laagaa ||4||10||21||
Says Nanak, his karma is perfect; his mind is attached to the Guru's feet. ||4||10||21||

ਰਤਨੁ ਛਾਡਿ ਕਉਡੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਲਾਗੇ ਜਾ ਤੇ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
ratan chhaadd kauddee sa(n)g laage jaa te kachhoo na paieeaai ||
Forsaking the jewel, he is attached to the shell; nothing will come of it.
