ਸੰਤ ਕਾ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਧਰਮ ਕੀ ਪਉੜੀ ਕੋ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਪਾਏ ॥
sa(n)t kaa maarag dharam kee pauRee ko vaddabhaagee paae ||
The way of the Saints is the ladder of righteous living, found only by great good fortune.
ਕੋਟਿ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਨਾਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ ॥੨॥
koT janam ke kilabikh naase har charanee chit laae ||2||
The sins of millions of incarnations are washed away, by focusing your consciousness on the Lord's feet. ||2||
ਉਸਤਤਿ ਕਰਹੁ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪਨੇ ਜਿਨਿ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਲ ਰਾਖੀ ॥
ausatat karahu sadhaa prabh apane jin pooree kal raakhee ||
So sing the Praises of your God forever; His almighty power is perfect.
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਭਏ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਖੀ ॥੩॥
jeea ja(n)t sabh bhe pavitraa satigur kee sach saakhee ||3||
All beings and creatures are purified, listening to the True Teachings of the True Guru. ||3||
ਬਿਘਨ ਬਿਨਾਸਨ ਸਭਿ ਦੁਖ ਨਾਸਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ॥
bighan binaasan sabh dhukh naasan satigur naam dhiraRaiaa ||
The True Guru has implanted the Naam, the Name of the Lord, within me; it is the Eliminator of obstructions, the Destroyer of all pains.
ਖੋਏ ਪਾਪ ਭਏ ਸਭਿ ਪਾਵਨ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖਿ ਘਰਿ ਆਇਆ ॥੪॥੩॥੫੩॥
khoe paap bhe sabh paavan jan naanak sukh ghar aaiaa ||4||3||53||
All of my sins were erased, and I have been purified; servant Nanak has returned to his home of peace. ||4||3||53||
ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
soraTh mahalaa panjavaa ||
Sorat'h, Fifth Mehla:
ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਗੁਨੀ ਗਹੇਰਾ ॥
saahib gunee gaheraa ||
O Lord Master, You are the ocean of excellence.
ਘਰੁ ਲਸਕਰੁ ਸਭੁ ਤੇਰਾ ॥
ghar lasakar sabh teraa ||
My home and all my possessions are Yours.
ਰਖਵਾਲੇ ਗੁਰ ਗੋਪਾਲਾ ॥
rakhavaale gur gopaalaa ||
The Guru, the Lord of the world, is my Savior.
ਸਭਿ ਜੀਅ ਭਏ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥੧॥
sabh jeea bhe dhiaalaa ||1||
All beings have become kind and compassionate to me. ||1||
ਜਪਿ ਅਨਦਿ ਰਹਉ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣਾ ॥
jap anadh rahau gur charanaa ||
Meditating on the Guru's feet, I am in bliss.
ਭਉ ਕਤਹਿ ਨਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਣਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bhau kateh nahee prabh saranaa || rahaau ||
There is no fear at all, in God's Sanctuary. ||Pause||
ਤੇਰਿਆ ਦਾਸਾ ਰਿਦੈ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥
teriaa dhaasaa ridhai muraaree ||
You dwell in the hearts of Your slaves, Lord.
ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਬਿਚਲ ਨੀਵ ਉਸਾਰੀ ॥
prabh abichal neev usaaree ||
God has laid the eternal foundation.
ਬਲੁ ਧਨੁ ਤਕੀਆ ਤੇਰਾ ॥
bal dhan takeeaa teraa ||
You are my strength, wealth and support.
ਤੂ ਭਾਰੋ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥੨॥
too bhaaro Thaakur meraa ||2||
You are my Almighty Lord and Master. ||2||
ਜਿਨਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
jin jin saadhasa(n)g paiaa ||
Whoever finds the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy,
ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਿ ਤਰਾਇਆ ॥
so prabh aap taraiaa ||
is saved by God Himself.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਮ ਰਸੁ ਦੀਆ ॥
kar kirapaa naam ras dheeaa ||
By His Grace, He has blessed me with the sublime essence of the Naam.
ਕੁਸਲ ਖੇਮ ਸਭ ਥੀਆ ॥੩॥
kusal khem sabh theeaa ||3||
All joy and pleasure then came to me. ||3||
ਹੋਏ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਹਾਈ ॥
hoe prabhoo sahaiee ||
God became my helper and my best friend;
ਸਭ ਉਠਿ ਲਾਗੀ ਪਾਈ ॥
sabh uTh laagee paiee ||
everyone rises up and bows down at my feet.
ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥
saas saas prabh dhiaaieeaai ||
With each and every breath, meditate on God;
ਹਰਿ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗਾਈਐ ॥੪॥੪॥੫੪॥
har ma(n)gal naanak gaieeaai ||4||4||54||
O Nanak, sing the songs of joy to the Lord. ||4||4||54||

Sorat'h, Fifth Mehla:
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦਾ ॥
sookh sahaj aana(n)dhaa ||
Celestial peace and bliss have come,
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵੰਦਾ ॥
prabh milio man bhaava(n)dhaa ||
meeting God, who is so pleasing to my mind.
ਪੂਰੈ ਗੁਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
poorai gur kirapaa dhaaree ||
The Perfect Guru showered me with His Mercy,
ਤਾ ਗਤਿ ਭਈ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
taa gat bhiee hamaaree ||1||
and I attained salvation. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਮਨੁ ਲੀਨਾ ॥
har kee prem bhagat man leenaa ||
My mind is absorbed in loving devotional worship of the Lord,
ਨਿਤ ਬਾਜੇ ਅਨਹਤ ਬੀਨਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
nit baaje anahat beenaa || rahaau ||
and the unstruck melody of the celestial sound current ever resounds within me. ||Pause||
ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ਕੀ ਓਟ ਸਤਾਣੀ ॥
har charan kee oT sataanee ||
The Lord's feet are my all-powerful shelter and support;
ਸਭ ਚੂਕੀ ਕਾਣਿ ਲੋਕਾਣੀ ॥
sabh chookee kaan lokaanee ||
my dependence on other people is totally finished.
ਜਗਜੀਵਨੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
jagajeevan dhaataa paiaa ||
I have found the Life of the world, the Great Giver;
ਹਰਿ ਰਸਕਿ ਰਸਕਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
har rasak rasak gun gaiaa ||2||
in joyful rapture, I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||2||
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾਟਿਆ ਜਮ ਕਾ ਫਾਸਾ ॥
prabh kaaTiaa jam kaa faasaa ||
God has cut away the noose of death.
ਮਨ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਈ ਆਸਾ ॥
man pooran hoiee aasaa ||
My mind's desires have been fulfilled;
ਜਹ ਪੇਖਾ ਤਹ ਸੋਈ ॥
jeh pekhaa teh soiee ||
wherever I look, He is there.
ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥੩॥
har prabh bin avar na koiee ||3||
Without the Lord God, there is no other at all. ||3||
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਰਾਖੇ ॥
kar kirapaa prabh raakhe ||
In His Mercy, God has protected and preserved me.
ਸਭਿ ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਦੁਖ ਲਾਥੇ ॥
sabh janam janam dhukh laathe ||
I am rid of all the pains of countless incarnations.
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
nirabhau naam dhiaaiaa ||
I have meditated on the Naam, the Name of the Fearless Lord;
ਅਟਲ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੫॥੫੫॥
aTal sukh naanak paiaa ||4||5||55||
O Nanak, I have found eternal peace. ||4||5||55||
ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Sorat'h, Fifth Mehla:
ਠਾਢਿ ਪਾਈ ਕਰਤਾਰੇ ॥
Thaadd paiee karataare ||
The Creator has brought utter peace to my home;
ਤਾਪੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਗਇਆ ਪਰਵਾਰੇ ॥
taap chhodd giaa paravaare ||
the fever has left my family.
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਹੈ ਰਾਖੀ ॥
gur poorai hai raakhee ||
The Perfect Guru has saved us.
ਸਰਣਿ ਸਚੇ ਕੀ ਤਾਕੀ ॥੧॥
saran sache kee taakee ||1||
I sought the Sanctuary of the True Lord. ||1||
ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਆਪਿ ਹੋਆ ਰਖਵਾਲਾ ॥
paramesar aap hoaa rakhavaalaa ||
The Transcendent Lord Himself has become my Protector.
ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਹਜ ਸੁਖ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਉਪਜੇ ਮਨੁ ਹੋਆ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਾਲਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
saa(n)t sahaj sukh khin meh upaje man hoaa sadhaa sukhaalaa || rahaau ||
Tranquility, intuitive peace and poise welled up in an instant, and my mind was comforted forever. ||Pause||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਓ ਦਾਰੂ ॥
har har naam dheeo dhaaroo ||
The Lord, Har, Har, gave me the medicine of His Name,
ਤਿਨਿ ਸਗਲਾ ਰੋਗੁ ਬਿਦਾਰੂ ॥
tin sagalaa rog bidhaaroo ||
which has cured all disease.
ਅਪਣੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
apanee kirapaa dhaaree ||
He extended His Mercy to me,
ਤਿਨਿ ਸਗਲੀ ਬਾਤ ਸਵਾਰੀ ॥੨॥
tin sagalee baat savaaree ||2||
and resolved all these affairs. ||2||
ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪਨਾ ਬਿਰਦੁ ਸਮਾਰਿਆ ॥
prabh apanaa biradh samaariaa ||
God confirmed His loving nature;
ਹਮਰਾ ਗੁਣੁ ਅਵਗੁਣੁ ਨ ਬੀਚਾਰਿਆ ॥
hamaraa gun avagun na beechaariaa ||
He did not take my merits or demerits into account.
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਭਇਓ ਸਾਖੀ ॥
gur kaa sabadh bhio saakhee ||
The Word of the Guru's Shabad has become manifest,
