ਤਿਨਿ ਸਗਲੀ ਲਾਜ ਰਾਖੀ ॥੩॥
tin sagalee laaj raakhee ||3||
and through it, my honor was totally preserved. ||3||
ਬੋਲਾਇਆ ਬੋਲੀ ਤੇਰਾ ॥
bolaiaa bolee teraa ||
I speak as You cause me to speak;
ਤੂ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਗੁਣੀ ਗਹੇਰਾ ॥
too saahib gunee gaheraa ||
O Lord and Master, You are the ocean of excellence.
ਜਪਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਖੀ ॥
jap naanak naam sach saakhee ||
Nanak chants the Naam, the Name of the Lord, according to the Teachings of Truth.
ਅਪੁਨੇ ਦਾਸ ਕੀ ਪੈਜ ਰਾਖੀ ॥੪॥੬॥੫੬॥
apune dhaas kee paij raakhee ||4||6||56||
God preserves the honor of His slaves. ||4||6||56||
ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
soraTh mahalaa panjavaa ||
Sorat'h, Fifth Mehla:
ਵਿਚਿ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਖਲੋਆ ॥
vich karataa purakh khaloaa ||
The Creator Lord Himself stood between us,
ਵਾਲੁ ਨ ਵਿੰਗਾ ਹੋਆ ॥
vaal na vi(n)gaa hoaa ||
and not a hair upon my head was touched.
ਮਜਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਆਂਦਾ ਰਾਸੇ ॥
majan gur aa(n)dhaa raase ||
The Guru made my cleansing bath successful;
ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਨਾਸੇ ॥੧॥
jap har har kilavikh naase ||1||
meditating on the Lord, Har, Har, my sins were erased. ||1||
ਸੰਤਹੁ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਸਰੋਵਰੁ ਨੀਕਾ ॥
sa(n)tahu raamadhaas sarovar neekaa ||
O Saints, the purifying pool of Ram Das is sublime.
ਜੋ ਨਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਕੁਲੁ ਤਰਾਵੈ ਉਧਾਰੁ ਹੋਆ ਹੈ ਜੀ ਕਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jo naavai so kul taraavai udhaar hoaa hai jee kaa ||1|| rahaau ||
Whoever bathes in it, his family and ancestry are saved, and his soul is saved as well. ||1||Pause||
ਜੈ ਜੈ ਕਾਰੁ ਜਗੁ ਗਾਵੈ ॥
jai jai kaar jag gaavai ||
The world sings cheers of victory,
ਮਨ ਚਿੰਦਿਅੜੇ ਫਲ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
man chi(n)dhiaRe fal paavai ||
and the fruits of his mind's desires are obtained.
ਸਹੀ ਸਲਾਮਤਿ ਨਾਇ ਆਏ ॥ ਅਪਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਧਿਆਏ ॥੨॥
sahee salaamat nai aae || apanaa prabhoo dhiaae ||2||
Whoever comes and bathes here, and meditates on his God, is safe and sound. ||2||
ਸੰਤ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਨਾਵੈ ॥
sa(n)t sarovar naavai ||
One who bathes in the healing pool of the Saints,
ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
so jan param gat paavai ||
that humble being obtains the supreme status.
ਮਰੈ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਈ ॥
marai na aavai jaiee ||
He does not die, or come and go in reincarnation;
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈ ॥੩॥
har har naam dhiaaiee ||3||
he meditates on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||3||
ਇਹੁ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬਿਚਾਰੁ ਸੁ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
eih braham bichaaru su jaanai ||
He alone knows this about God,
ਜਿਸੁ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੋਇ ਭਗਵਾਨੈ ॥
jis dhiaal hoi bhagavaanai ||
whom God blesses with His kindness.
ਬਾਬਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥
baabaa naanak prabh saranaiee ||
Baba Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of God;
ਸਭ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਗਣਤ ਮਿਟਾਈ ॥੪॥੭॥੫੭॥
sabh chi(n)taa ganat miTaiee ||4||7||57||
all his worries and anxieties are dispelled. ||4||7||57||
ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
soraTh mahalaa panjavaa ||
Sorat'h, Fifth Mehla:
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮਿ ਨਿਬਾਹੀ ਪੂਰੀ ॥
paarabraham nibaahee pooree ||
The Supreme Lord God has stood by me and fulfilled me,
ਕਾਈ ਬਾਤ ਨ ਰਹੀਆ ਊਰੀ ॥
kaiee baat na raheeaa uooree ||
and nothing is left unfinished.
ਗੁਰਿ ਚਰਨ ਲਾਇ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥
gur charan lai nisataare ||
Attached to the Guru's feet, I am saved;
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮੑਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
har har naam sam(h)aare ||1||
I contemplate and cherish the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||1||
ਅਪਨੇ ਦਾਸ ਕਾ ਸਦਾ ਰਖਵਾਲਾ ॥
apane dhaas kaa sadhaa rakhavaalaa ||
He is forever the Savior of His slaves.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਕਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਜਿਉ ਪਾਲਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kar kirapaa apune kar raakhe maat pitaa jiau paalaa ||1|| rahaau ||
Bestowing His Mercy, He made me His own and preserved me; like a mother or father, He cherishes me. ||1||Pause||
ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
vaddabhaagee satigur paiaa ||
By great good fortune, I found the True Guru,
ਜਿਨਿ ਜਮ ਕਾ ਪੰਥੁ ਮਿਟਾਇਆ ॥
jin jam kaa pa(n)th miTaiaa ||
who obliterated the path of the Messenger of Death.
ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਭਾਇ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥
har bhagat bhai chit laagaa ||
My consciousness is focused on loving, devotional worship of the Lord.
ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵਹਿ ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗਾ ॥੨॥
jap jeeveh se vaddabhaagaa ||2||
One who lives in this meditation is very fortunate indeed. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਗਾਵੈ ॥
har a(n)mirat baanee gaavai ||
He sings the Ambrosial Word of the Guru's Bani,
ਸਾਧਾ ਕੀ ਧੂਰੀ ਨਾਵੈ ॥
saadhaa kee dhooree naavai ||
and bathes in the dust of the feet of the Holy.
ਅਪੁਨਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਆਪੇ ਦੀਆ ॥
apunaa naam aape dheeaa ||
He Himself bestows His Name.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਰਣਹਾਰ ਰਖਿ ਲੀਆ ॥੩॥
prabh karanahaar rakh leeaa ||3||
God, the Creator, saves us. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰਾ ॥
har dharasan praan adhaaraa ||
The Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan is the support of the breath of life.
ਇਹੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਬਿਮਲ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥
eih pooran bimal beechaaraa ||
This is the perfect, pure wisdom.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥
kar kirapaa a(n)tarajaamee ||
The Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts, has granted His Mercy;
ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥੪॥੮॥੫੮॥
dhaas naanak saran suaamee ||4||8||58||
slave Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of his Lord and Master. ||4||8||58||
ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
soraTh mahalaa panjavaa ||
Sorat'h, Fifth Mehla:
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਚਰਨੀ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
gur poorai charanee laiaa ||
The Perfect Guru has attached me to His feet.
ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਹਾਈ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
har sa(n)g sahaiee paiaa ||
I have obtained the Lord as my companion, my support, my best friend.
ਜਹ ਜਾਈਐ ਤਹਾ ਸੁਹੇਲੇ ॥
jeh jaieeaai tahaa suhele ||
Wherever I go, I am happy there.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਮੇਲੇ ॥੧॥
kar kirapaa prabh mele ||1||
By His Kind Mercy, God united me with Himself. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਭਾਈ ॥
har gun gaavahu sadhaa subhaiee ||
So sing forever the Glorious Praises of the Lord with loving devotion.
ਮਨ ਚਿੰਦੇ ਸਗਲੇ ਫਲ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਜੀਅ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਹਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
man chi(n)dhe sagale fal paavahu jeea kai sa(n)g sahaiee ||1|| rahaau ||
You shall obtain all the fruits of your mind's desires, and the Lord shall become the companion and the support of your soul. ||1||Pause||
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਅਧਾਰਾ ॥
naarain praan adhaaraa ||
The Lord is the support of the breath of life.
ਹਮ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਰੇਨਾਰਾ ॥
ham sa(n)t janaa(n) renaaraa ||
I am the dust of the feet of the Holy people.
ਪਤਿਤ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਕਰਿ ਲੀਨੇ ॥
patit puneet kar leene ||
I am a sinner, but the Lord made me pure.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਦੀਨੇ ॥੨॥
kar kirapaa har jas dheene ||2||
By His Kind Mercy, the Lord blessed me with His Praises. ||2||
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਾ ॥
paarabraham kare pratipaalaa ||
The Supreme Lord God cherishes and nurtures me.
ਸਦ ਜੀਅ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਖਵਾਲਾ ॥
sadh jeea sa(n)g rakhavaalaa ||
He is always with me, the Protector of my soul.
ਹਰਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਨਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗਾਈਐ ॥
har dhin rain keeratan gaieeaai ||
Singing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises day and night,
ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਜੋਨੀ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੩॥
bahuR na jonee paieeaai ||3||
I shall not be consigned to reincarnation again. ||3||
ਜਿਸੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥
jis dhevai purakh bidhaataa ||
One who is blessed by the Primal Lord, the Architect of Destiny,
ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਤਿਨ ਹੀ ਜਾਤਾ ॥
har ras tin hee jaataa ||
realizes the subtle essence of the Lord.
ਜਮਕੰਕਰੁ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਇਆ ॥
jamaka(n)kar neR na aaiaa ||
The Messenger of Death does not come near him.
ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣੀ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੯॥੫੯॥
sukh naanak saranee paiaa ||4||9||59||
In the Lord's Sanctuary, Nanak has found peace. ||4||9||59||
