ਸਭ ਜੀਅ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
sabh jeea tere dhiaalaa ||
All beings are Yours, O Merciful Lord.
ਅਪਨੇ ਭਗਤ ਕਰਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਾ ॥
apane bhagat kareh pratipaalaa ||
You cherish Your devotees.
ਅਚਰਜੁ ਤੇਰੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
acharaj teree vaddiaaiee ||
Your glorious greatness is wonderful and marvellous.
ਨਿਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈ ॥੨॥੨੩॥੮੭॥
nit naanak naam dhiaaiee ||2||23||87||
Nanak ever meditates on the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||2||23||87||
ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Sorat'h, Fifth Mehla:
ਨਾਲਿ ਨਰਾਇਣੁ ਮੇਰੈ ॥
naal narain merai ||
The Lord is always with me.
ਜਮਦੂਤੁ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਨੇਰੈ ॥
jamadhoot na aavai nerai ||
The Messenger of Death does not approach me.
ਕੰਠਿ ਲਾਇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਰਾਖੈ ॥
ka(n)Th lai prabh raakhai ||
God holds me close in His embrace, and protects me.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਖੈ ॥੧॥
satigur kee sach saakhai ||1||
True are the Teachings of the True Guru. ||1||
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਪੂਰੀ ਕੀਤੀ ॥
gur poorai pooree keetee ||
The Perfect Guru has done it perfectly.
ਦੁਸਮਨ ਮਾਰਿ ਵਿਡਾਰੇ ਸਗਲੇ ਦਾਸ ਕਉ ਸੁਮਤਿ ਦੀਤੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
dhusaman maar viddaare sagale dhaas kau sumat dheetee ||1|| rahaau ||
He has beaten and driven off my enemies, and given me, His slave, the sublime understanding of the neutral mind. ||1||Pause||
ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਸਗਲੇ ਥਾਨ ਵਸਾਏ ॥
prabh sagale thaan vasaae ||
God has blessed all places with prosperity.
ਸੁਖਿ ਸਾਂਦਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਏ ॥
sukh saa(n)dh fir aae ||
I have returned again safe and sound.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਣਾਏ ॥
naanak prabh saranaae ||
Nanak has entered God's Sanctuary.
ਜਿਨਿ ਸਗਲੇ ਰੋਗ ਮਿਟਾਏ ॥੨॥੨੪॥੮੮॥
jin sagale rog miTaae ||2||24||88||
It has eradicated all disease. ||2||24||88||

Sorat'h, Fifth Mehla:
ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖਾ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਸਰਨੀ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
sarab sukhaa kaa dhaataa satigur taa kee saranee paieeaai ||
The True Guru is the Giver of all peace and comfort - seek His Sanctuary.
ਦਰਸਨੁ ਭੇਟਤ ਹੋਤ ਅਨੰਦਾ ਦੂਖੁ ਗਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਈਐ ॥੧॥
dharasan bheTat hot ana(n)dhaa dhookh giaa har gaieeaai ||1||
Beholding the Blessed Vision of His Darshan, bliss ensues, pain is dispelled, and one sings the Lord's Praises. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਵਹੁ ਭਾਈ ॥
har ras peevahu bhaiee ||
Drink in the sublime essence of the Lord, O Siblings of Destiny.
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਨਾਮੋ ਆਰਾਧਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੀ ਸਰਨਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
naam japahu naamo aaraadhahu gur poore kee saranaiee || rahaau ||
Chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord; worship the Naam in adoration, and enter the Sanctuary of the Perfect Guru. ||Pause||
ਤਿਸਹਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਸੋਈ ਪੂਰਨੁ ਭਾਈ ॥
tiseh paraapat jis dhur likhiaa soiee pooran bhaiee ||
Only one who has such pre-ordained destiny receives it; he alone becomes perfect, O Siblings of Destiny.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਹਾ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥੨॥੨੫॥੮੯॥
naanak kee bena(n)tee prabh jee naam rahaa liv laiee ||2||25||89||
Nanak's prayer, O Dear God, is to remain lovingly absorbed in the Naam. ||2||25||89||

Sorat'h, Fifth Mehla:
ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਜਨ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਕੀ ਰਾਖੈ ॥
karan karaavan har a(n)tarajaamee jan apune kee raakhai ||
The Lord is the Cause of Causes, the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts; He preserves the honor of His servant.
ਜੈ ਜੈ ਕਾਰੁ ਹੋਤੁ ਜਗ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਸੁ ਚਾਖੈ ॥੧॥
jai jai kaar hot jag bheetar sabadh guroo ras chaakhai ||1||
He is hailed and congratulated throughout the world, and he tastes the sublime essence of the Word of the Guru's Shabad. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਓਟ ਗੁਸਾਈ ॥
prabh jee teree oT gusaiee ||
Dear God, Lord of the world, You are my only support.
ਤੂ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਸਰਨਿ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਤੁਮੑ ਧਿਆਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
too samarath saran kaa dhaataa aaTh pahar tum(h) dhiaaiee || rahaau ||
You are all-powerful, the Giver of Sanctuary; twenty-four hours a day, I meditate on You. ||Pause||
ਜੋ ਜਨੁ ਭਜਨੁ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰਾ ਤਿਸੈ ਅੰਦੇਸਾ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
jo jan bhajan kare prabh teraa tisai a(n)dhesaa naahee ||
That humble being, who vibrates upon You, O God, is not afflicted by anxiety.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਚਰਨ ਲਗੇ ਭਉ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਏ ਮਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥੨॥
satigur charan lage bhau miTiaa har gun gaae man maahee ||2||
Attached to the Feet of the True Guru, his fear is dispelled, and within his mind, he sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||2||
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦ ਘਨੇਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਦੀਆ ਦਿਲਾਸਾ ॥
sookh sahaj aana(n)dh ghanere satigur dheeaa dhilaasaa ||
He abides in celestial peace and utter ecstasy; the True Guru has comforted him.
ਜਿਣਿ ਘਰਿ ਆਏ ਸੋਭਾ ਸੇਤੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਈ ਆਸਾ ॥੩॥
jin ghar aae sobhaa setee pooran hoiee aasaa ||3||
He has returned home victorious, with honor, and his hopes have been fulfilled. ||3||
ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੀ ਮਤਿ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇ ਕਾਮਾ ॥
pooraa gur pooree mat jaa kee pooran prabh ke kaamaa ||
Perfect are the Teachings of the Perfect Guru; Perfect are the actions of God.
ਗੁਰ ਚਰਨੀ ਲਾਗਿ ਤਰਿਓ ਭਵ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ॥੪॥੨੬॥੯੦॥
gur charanee laag tario bhav saagar jap naanak har har naamaa ||4||26||90||
Grasping hold of the Guru's feet, Nanak has crossed over the terrifying world-ocean, chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||4||26||90||

ਭਇਓ ਕਿਰਪਾਲੁ ਦੀਨ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨੁ ਆਪੇ ਸਭ ਬਿਧਿ ਥਾਟੀ ॥
bhio kirapaal dheen dhukh bha(n)jan aape sabh bidh thaaTee ||
Becoming merciful, the Destroyer of the pains of the poor has Himself devised all devices.
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਖਿ ਲੀਓ ਜਨੁ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੈ ਬੇੜੀ ਕਾਟੀ ॥੧॥
khin meh raakh leeo jan apunaa gur poorai beRee kaaTee ||1||
In an instant, He has saved His humble servant; the Perfect Guru has cut away his bonds. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਗੁਰ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ਸਦ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥
mere man gur govi(n)dh sadh dhiaaieeaai ||
O my mind, meditate forever on the Guru, the Lord of the Universe.
ਸਗਲ ਕਲੇਸ ਮਿਟਹਿ ਇਸੁ ਤਨ ਤੇ ਮਨ ਚਿੰਦਿਆ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sagal kales miTeh is tan te man chi(n)dhiaa fal paieeaai || rahaau ||
All illness shall depart from this body, and you shall obtain the fruits of your mind's desires. ||Pause||
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਸਭਿ ਕੀਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਊਚਾ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
jeea ja(n)t jaa ke sabh keene prabh uoochaa agam apaaraa ||
God created all beings and creatures; He is lofty, inaccessible and infinite.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਮੁਖ ਊਜਲ ਭਏ ਦਰਬਾਰਾ ॥੨॥੨੭॥੯੧॥
saadhasa(n)g naanak naam dhiaaiaa mukh uoojal bhe dharabaaraa ||2||27||91||
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, Nanak meditates on the Naam, the Name of the Lord; his face is radiant in the Court of the Lord. ||2||27||91||

ਸਿਮਰਉ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਸਾਂਈ ॥

I meditate in remembrance on my Lord.
ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰੈਨਿ ਸਦ ਧਿਆਈ ॥
dhinas rain sadh dhiaaiee ||
Day and night, I ever meditate on Him.
ਹਾਥ ਦੇਇ ਜਿਨਿ ਰਾਖੇ ॥
haath dhei jin raakhe ||
He gave me His hand, and protected me.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਮਹਾ ਰਸ ਚਾਖੇ ॥੧॥
har naam mahaa ras chaakhe ||1||
I drink in the most sublime essence of the Lord's Name. ||1||
