ਅਪਨੇ ਗੁਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੁ ॥
apane gur uoopar kurabaan ||
I am a sacrifice to my Guru.
ਭਏ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਾਤੇ ਜੀਅ ਹੋਏ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bhe kirapaal pooran prabh dhaate jeea hoe miharavaan || rahaau ||
God, the Great Giver, the Perfect One, has become merciful to me, and now, all are kind to me. ||Pause||
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਸਰਨਾਈ ॥
naanak jan saranaiee ||
Servant Nanak has entered His Sanctuary.
ਜਿਨਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੈਜ ਰਖਾਈ ॥
jin pooran paij rakhaiee ||
He has perfectly preserved his honor.
ਸਗਲੇ ਦੂਖ ਮਿਟਾਈ ॥
sagale dhookh miTaiee ||
All suffering has been dispelled.
ਸੁਖੁ ਭੁੰਚਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥੨॥੨੮॥੯੨॥
sukh bhu(n)chahu mere bhaiee ||2||28||92||
So enjoy peace, O my Siblings of Destiny! ||2||28||92||

Sorat'h, Fifth Mehla:
ਸੁਨਹੁ ਬਿਨੰਤੀ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
sunahu bina(n)tee Thaakur mere jeea ja(n)t tere dhaare ||
Hear my prayer, O my Lord and Master; all beings and creatures were created by You.
ਰਾਖੁ ਪੈਜ ਨਾਮ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਕੀ ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨਹਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
raakh paij naam apune kee karan karaavanahaare ||1||
You preserve the honor of Your Name, O Lord, Cause of causes. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀਉ ਖਸਮਾਨਾ ਕਰਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
prabh jeeau khasamaanaa kar piaare ||
O Dear God, Beloved, please, make me Your own.
ਬੁਰੇ ਭਲੇ ਹਮ ਥਾਰੇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bure bhale ham thaare || rahaau ||
Whether good or bad, I am Yours. ||Pause||
ਸੁਣੀ ਪੁਕਾਰ ਸਮਰਥ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟਿ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥
sunee pukaar samarath suaamee ba(n)dhan kaaT savaare ||
The Almighty Lord and Master heard my prayer; cutting away my bonds, He has adorned me.
ਪਹਿਰਿ ਸਿਰਪਾਉ ਸੇਵਕ ਜਨ ਮੇਲੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਪਹਾਰੇ ॥੨॥੨੯॥੯੩॥
pahir sirapaau sevak jan mele naanak pragaT pahaare ||2||29||93||
He dressed me in robes of honor, and blended His servant with Himself; Nanak is revealed in glory throughout the world. ||2||29||93||
ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Sorat'h, Fifth Mehla:
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਵਸਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਨੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਸਭਿ ਦਰਬਾਰੇ ॥
jeea ja(n)t sabh vas kar dheene sevak sabh dharabaare ||
All beings and creatures are subservient to all those who serve in the Lord's Court.
ਅੰਗੀਕਾਰੁ ਕੀਓ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਭਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
a(n)geekaar keeo prabh apune bhav nidh paar utaare ||1||
Their God made them His own, and carried them across the terrifying world-ocean. ||1||
ਸੰਤਨ ਕੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਗਲ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥
sa(n)tan ke kaaraj sagal savaare ||
He resolves all the affairs of His Saints.
ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਧਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਖਸਮ ਹਮਾਰੇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
dheen dhiaal kirapaal kirapaa nidh pooran khasam hamaare || rahaau ||
He is merciful to the meek, kind and compassionate, the ocean of kindness, my Perfect Lord and Master. ||Pause||
ਆਉ ਬੈਠੁ ਆਦਰੁ ਸਭ ਥਾਈ ਊਨ ਨ ਕਤਹੂੰ ਬਾਤਾ ॥
aau baiTh aadhar sabh thaiee uoon na katahoo(n) baataa ||
I am asked to come and be seated, everywhere I go, and I lack nothing.
ਭਗਤਿ ਸਿਰਪਾਉ ਦੀਓ ਜਨ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜਾਤਾ ॥੨॥੩੦॥੯੪॥
bhagat sirapaau dheeo jan apune prataap naanak prabh jaataa ||2||30||94||
The Lord blesses His humble devotee with robes of honor; O Nanak, the Glory of God is manifest. ||2||30||94||

Sorat'h, Ninth Mehla:
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ikOankaar satigur prasaadh ||
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਰੇ ਮਨ ਰਾਮ ਸਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥
re man raam siau kar preet ||
O mind, love the Lord.
ਸ੍ਰਵਨ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੁਨੁ ਸੁਨਉ ਅਰੁ ਗਾਉ ਰਸਨਾ ਗੀਤਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sravan gobi(n)dh gun sunau ar gaau rasanaa geet ||1|| rahaau ||
With your ears, hear the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe, and with your tongue, sing His song. ||1||Pause||
ਕਰਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਿਮਰੁ ਮਾਧੋ ਹੋਹਿ ਪਤਿਤ ਪੁਨੀਤ ॥
kar saadhasa(n)gat simar maadho hoh patit puneet ||
Join the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, and meditate in remembrance on the Lord; even a sinner like yourself will become pure.
ਕਾਲੁ ਬਿਆਲੁ ਜਿਉ ਪਰਿਓ ਡੋਲੈ ਮੁਖੁ ਪਸਾਰੇ ਮੀਤ ॥੧॥
kaal biaal jiau pario ddolai mukh pasaare meet ||1||
Death is on the prowl, with its mouth wide open, friend. ||1||
ਆਜੁ ਕਾਲਿ ਫੁਨਿ ਤੋਹਿ ਗ੍ਰਸਿ ਹੈ ਸਮਝਿ ਰਾਖਉ ਚੀਤਿ ॥
aaj kaal fun toh gras hai samajh raakhau cheet ||
Today or tomorrow, eventually it will seize you; understand this in your consciousness.
ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਰਾਮੁ ਭਜਿ ਲੈ ਜਾਤੁ ਅਉਸਰੁ ਬੀਤ ॥੨॥੧॥
kahai naanak raam bhaj lai jaat aausar beet ||2||1||
Says Nanak, meditate, and vibrate upon the Lord; this opportunity is slipping away! ||2||1||
ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੯ ॥
soraTh mahalaa nauvaa ||
Sorat'h, Ninth Mehla:
ਮਨ ਕੀ ਮਨ ਹੀ ਮਾਹਿ ਰਹੀ ॥
man kee man hee maeh rahee ||
The mind remains in the mind.
ਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਭਜੇ ਨ ਤੀਰਥ ਸੇਵੇ ਚੋਟੀ ਕਾਲਿ ਗਹੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
naa har bhaje na teerath seve choTee kaal gahee ||1|| rahaau ||
He does not meditate on the Lord, nor does he perform service at sacred shrines, and so death seizes him by the hair. ||1||Pause||
ਦਾਰਾ ਮੀਤ ਪੂਤ ਰਥ ਸੰਪਤਿ ਧਨ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਭ ਮਹੀ ॥
dhaaraa meet poot rath sa(n)pat dhan pooran sabh mahee ||
Wife, friends, children, carriages, property, total wealth, the entire world
ਅਵਰ ਸਗਲ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਏ ਜਾਨਉ ਭਜਨੁ ਰਾਮੁ ਕੋ ਸਹੀ ॥੧॥
avar sagal mithiaa e jaanau bhajan raam ko sahee ||1||
- know that all of these things are false. The Lord's meditation alone is true. ||1||
ਫਿਰਤ ਫਿਰਤ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਜੁਗ ਹਾਰਿਓ ਮਾਨਸ ਦੇਹ ਲਹੀ ॥
firat firat bahute jug haario maanas dheh lahee ||
Wandering, wandering around for so many ages, he has grown weary, and finally, he obtained this human body.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਹਤ ਮਿਲਨ ਕੀ ਬਰੀਆ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਕਹਾ ਨਹੀ ॥੨॥੨॥
naanak kahat milan kee bareeaa simarat kahaa nahee ||2||2||
Says Nanak, this is the opportunity to meet the Lord; why don't you remember Him in meditation? ||2||2||
ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੯ ॥
soraTh mahalaa nauvaa ||
Sorat'h, Ninth Mehla:
ਮਨ ਰੇ ਕਉਨੁ ਕੁਮਤਿ ਤੈ ਲੀਨੀ ॥
man re kaun kumat tai leenee ||
O mind, what evil-mindedness have you developed?
ਪਰ ਦਾਰਾ ਨਿੰਦਿਆ ਰਸ ਰਚਿਓ ਰਾਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਨਹਿ ਕੀਨੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
par dhaaraa ni(n)dhiaa ras rachio raam bhagat neh keenee ||1|| rahaau ||
You are engrossed in the pleasures of other men's wives, and slander; you have not worshipped the Lord at all. ||1||Pause||
ਮੁਕਤਿ ਪੰਥੁ ਜਾਨਿਓ ਤੈ ਨਾਹਨਿ ਧਨ ਜੋਰਨ ਕਉ ਧਾਇਆ ॥
mukat pa(n)th jaanio tai naahan dhan joran kau dhaiaa ||
You do not know the way to liberation, but you run all around chasing wealth.
