ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੋ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਹੇ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੨॥
naanak j gurmukh kareh so paravaan hai jo naam rahe liv lai ||2||
O Nanak, whatever the Gurmukhs do is acceptable; they remain lovingly absorbed in the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||2||

Pauree:
ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਤਿੰਨ ਕੰਉ ਜੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਿਖਾ ॥
hau balihaaree ti(n)n ka(n)au jo gurmukh sikhaa ||
I am a sacrifice to those Sikhs who are Gurmukhs.
ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਦੇ ਤਿਨ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪਿਖਾ ॥
jo har naam dhiaaidhe tin dharasan pikhaa ||
I behold the Blessed Vision, the Darshan of those who meditate on the Lord's Name.
ਸੁਣਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਰਵਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਲਿਖਾ ॥
sun keeratan har gun ravaa har jas man likhaa ||
Listening to the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises, I contemplate His virtues; I write His Praises on the fabric of my mind.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹੀ ਰੰਗ ਸਿਉ ਸਭਿ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਕ੍ਰਿਖਾ ॥
har naam salaahee ra(n)g siau sabh kilavikh kirakhaa ||
I praise the Lord's Name with love, and eradicate all my sins.
ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਸੁਹਾਵਾ ਸੋ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਥਾਨੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਥੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਧਰੇ ਵਿਖਾ ॥੧੯॥
dhan dha(n)n suhaavaa so sareer thaan hai jithai meraa gur dhare vikhaa ||19||
Blessed, blessed and beauteous is that body and place, where my Guru places His feet. ||19||
ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ ੩ ॥

Shalok, Third Mehla:
ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਨਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥
gur bin giaan na hoviee naa sukh vasai man aai ||
Without the Guru, spiritual wisdom is not obtained, and peace does not come to abide in the mind.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਹੂਣੇ ਮਨਮੁਖੀ ਜਾਸਨਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥੧॥
naanak naam vihoone manmukhee jaasan janam gavai ||1||
O Nanak, without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the self-willed manmukhs depart, after having wasted their lives. ||1||

Third Mehla:
ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਨਾਵੈ ਨੋ ਸਭਿ ਖੋਜਦੇ ਥਕਿ ਰਹੇ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
sidh saadhik naavai no sabh khojadhe thak rahe liv lai ||
All the Siddhas, spiritual masters and seekers search for the Name; they have grown weary of concentrating and focusing their attention.
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਓ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
bin satigur kinai na paio gurmukh milai milai ||
Without the True Guru, no one finds the Name; the Gurmukhs unite in Union with the Lord.
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਪੈਨਣੁ ਖਾਣੁ ਸਭੁ ਬਾਦਿ ਹੈ ਧਿਗੁ ਸਿਧੀ ਧਿਗੁ ਕਰਮਾਤਿ ॥
bin naavai painan khaan sabh baadh hai dhig sidhee dhig karamaat ||
Without the Name, all food and clothes are worthless; cursed is such spirituality, and cursed are such miraculous powers.
ਸਾ ਸਿਧਿ ਸਾ ਕਰਮਾਤਿ ਹੈ ਅਚਿੰਤੁ ਕਰੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਦਾਤਿ ॥
saa sidh saa karamaat hai achi(n)t kare jis dhaat ||
That alone is spirituality, and that alone is miraculous power, which the Carefree Lord spontaneously bestows.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਏਹਾ ਸਿਧਿ ਏਹਾ ਕਰਮਾਤਿ ॥੨॥
naanak gurmukh har naam man vasai ehaa sidh ehaa karamaat ||2||
O Nanak, the Lord's Name abides in the mind of the Gurmukh; this is spirituality, and this is miraculous power. ||2||

ਹਮ ਢਾਢੀ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਖਸਮ ਕੇ ਨਿਤ ਗਾਵਹ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਛੰਤਾ ॥
ham ddaaddee har prabh khasam ke nit gaaveh har gun chha(n)taa ||
I am a minstrel of God, my Lord and Master; every day, I sing the songs of the Lord's Glorious Praises.
ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਕਰਹ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਸੁਣਹ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਵਲਾ ਕੰਤਾ ॥
har keeratan kareh har jas suneh tis kavalaa ka(n)taa ||
I sing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises, and I listen to the Praises of the Lord, the Master of wealth and Maya.
ਹਰਿ ਦਾਤਾ ਸਭੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਭਿਖਾਰੀਆ ਮੰਗਤ ਜਨ ਜੰਤਾ ॥
har dhaataa sabh jagat bhikhaareeaa ma(n)gat jan ja(n)taa ||
The Lord is the Great Giver; all the world is begging; all beings and creatures are beggars.
ਹਰਿ ਦੇਵਹੁ ਦਾਨੁ ਦਇਆਲ ਹੋਇ ਵਿਚਿ ਪਾਥਰ ਕ੍ਰਿਮ ਜੰਤਾ ॥
har dhevahu dhaan dhiaal hoi vich paathar kiram ja(n)taa ||
O Lord, You are kind and compassionate; You give Your gifts to even worms and insects among the rocks.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਧਨਵੰਤਾ ॥੨੦॥
jan naanak naam dhiaaiaa gurmukh dhanava(n)taa ||20||
Servant Nanak meditates on the Naam, the Name of the Lord; as Gurmukh, he has become truly wealthy. ||20||
ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ ੩ ॥

Shalok, Third Mehla:
ਪੜਣਾ ਗੁੜਣਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਕੀ ਕਾਰ ਹੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਵਿਕਾਰੁ ॥
paRanaa guRanaa sa(n)saar kee kaar hai a(n)dhar tirasanaa vikaar ||
Reading and studying are just worldly pursuits, if there is thirst and corruption within.
ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਸਭਿ ਪੜਿ ਥਕੇ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥
haumai vich sabh paR thake dhoojai bhai khuaar ||
Reading in egotism, all have grown weary; through the love of duality, they are ruined.
ਸੋ ਪੜਿਆ ਸੋ ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਬੀਨਾ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਕਰੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
so paRiaa so pa(n)ddit beenaa gur sabadh kare veechaar ||
He alone is educated, and he alone is a wise Pandit, who contemplates the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਅੰਦਰੁ ਖੋਜੈ ਤਤੁ ਲਹੈ ਪਾਏ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥
a(n)dhar khojai tat lahai paae mokh dhuaar ||
He searches within himself, and finds the true essence; he finds the Door of Salvation.
ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਹਜਿ ਕਰੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
gun nidhaan har paiaa sahaj kare veechaar ||
He finds the Lord, the treasure of excellence, and peacefully contemplates Him.
ਧੰਨੁ ਵਾਪਾਰੀ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
dha(n)n vaapaaree naanakaa jis gurmukh naam adhaar ||1||
Blessed is the trader, O Nanak, who, as Gurmukh, takes the Name as his only Support. ||1||

Third Mehla:
ਵਿਣੁ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰੇ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਸਿਝਈ ਵੇਖਹੁ ਕੋ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
vin man maare koi na sijhiee vekhahu ko liv lai ||
Without conquering his mind, no one can be successful. See this, and concentrate on it.
ਭੇਖਧਾਰੀ ਤੀਰਥੀ ਭਵਿ ਥਕੇ ਨਾ ਏਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
bhekhadhaaree teerathee bhav thake naa eh man maariaa jai ||
The wandering holy men are tired of of making pilgrimages to sacred shrines; they have not been able to conquer their minds.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਏਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਜੀਵਤੁ ਮਰੈ ਸਚਿ ਰਹੈ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
gurmukh eh man jeevat marai sach rahai liv lai ||
The Gurmukh has conquered his mind, and he remains lovingly absorbed in the True Lord.
ਨਾਨਕ ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਮਲੁ ਇਉ ਉਤਰੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਇ ॥੨॥
naanak is man kee mal iau utarai haumai sabadh jalai ||2||
O Nanak, this is how the filth of the mind is removed; the Word of the Shabad burns away the ego. ||2||

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਵਹੁ ਇਕ ਕਿਨਕਾ ॥
har har sa(n)t milahu mere bhaiee har naam dhiraRaavahu ik kinakaa ||
O Saints of the Lord, O my Siblings of Destiny, please meet with me, and implant the Name of the One Lord within me.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਬਨਾਵਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਹਰਿ ਕਾਪੜੁ ਪਹਿਰਹੁ ਖਿਮ ਕਾ ॥
har har seegaar banaavahu har jan har kaapaR pahirahu khim kaa ||
O humble servants of the Lord, adorn me with the decorations of the Lord, Har, Har; let me wear the robes of the Lord's forgiveness.
ਐਸਾ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਗੈ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਿਮ ਕਾ ॥
aaisaa seegaar mere prabh bhaavai har laagai piaaraa piram kaa ||
Such decorations are pleasing to my God; such love is dear to the Lord.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਬੋਲਹੁ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਭਿ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਕਾਟੈ ਇਕ ਪਲਕਾ ॥
har har naam bolahu dhin raatee sabh kilabikh kaaTai ik palakaa ||
I chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, day and night; in an instant, all sins are eradicated.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਉਪਰਿ ਸੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਜਿਣਕਾ ॥੨੧॥
har har dhiaal hovai jis upar so gurmukh har jap jinakaa ||21||
That Gurmukh, unto whom the Lord becomes merciful, chants the Lord's Name, and wins the game of life. ||21||
