ਕਾਇਆ ਨਗਰ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਮ ਰਸੁ ਊਤਮੁ ਕਿਉ ਪਾਈਐ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਜਨ ਕਰਹੁ ॥
kaiaa nagar meh raam ras uootam kiau paieeaai upadhes jan karahu ||
Within the body-village is the Lord's supreme, sublime essence. How can I obtain it? Teach me, O humble Saints.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਫਲ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਅਹੁ ॥੨॥
satigur sev safal har dharasan mil a(n)mrit har ras peeahu ||2||
Serving the True Guru, you shall obtain the Fruitful Vision of the Lord's Darshan; meeting Him, drink in the ambrosial essence of the Lord's Nectar. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਮੀਠਾ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਚਾਖਿ ਦਿਖਹੁ ॥
har har naam a(n)mrit har meeThaa har sa(n)tahu chaakh dhikhahu ||
The Ambrosial Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is so sweet; O Saints of the Lord, taste it, and see.
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਮੀਠਾ ਲਾਗਾ ਤਿਨ ਬਿਸਰੇ ਸਭਿ ਬਿਖ ਰਸਹੁ ॥੩॥
gurmat har ras meeThaa laagaa tin bisare sabh bikh rasahu ||3||
Under Guru's Instruction, the Lord's essence seems so sweet; through it, all corrupt sensual pleasures are forgotten. ||3||
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਸੁ ਰਾਮ ਰਸਾਇਣੁ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਹੁ ॥
raam naam ras raam rasain har sevahu sa(n)t janahu ||
The Name of the Lord is the medicine to cure all diseases; so serve the Lord, O humble Saints.
ਚਾਰਿ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਚਾਰੇ ਪਾਏ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਭਜਹੁ ॥੪॥੪॥
chaar padhaarath chaare paae gurmat naanak har bhajahu ||4||4||
The four great blessings are obtained, O Nanak, by vibrating upon the Lord, under Guru's Instruction. ||4||4||
ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥
bilaaval mahalaa chauthhaa ||
Bilaaval, Fourth Mehla:
ਖਤ੍ਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣੁ ਸੂਦੁ ਵੈਸੁ ਕੋ ਜਾਪੈ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਜਪੈਨੀ ॥
khatree braahaman soodh vais ko jaapai har ma(n)tr japainee ||
Anyone, from any class - Kh'shaatriya, Brahman, Soodra or Vaishya - can chant, and meditate on the Mantra of the Lord's Name.
ਗੁਰੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਕਰਿ ਪੂਜਹੁ ਨਿਤ ਸੇਵਹੁ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਸਭ ਰੈਨੀ ॥੧॥
gur satigur paarabraham kar poojahu nit sevahu dhinas sabh rainee ||1||
Worship the Guru, the True Guru, as the Supreme Lord God; serve Him constantly, all day and night. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਨੈਨੀ ॥
har jan dhekhahu satigur nainee ||
O humble servants of the Lord, behold the True Guru with your eyes.
ਜੋ ਇਛਹੁ ਸੋਈ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਬੋਲਹੁ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਬੈਨੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jo ichhahu soiee fal paavahu har bolahu gurmat bainee ||1|| rahaau ||
Whatever you wish for, you shall receive, chanting the Word of the Lord's Name, under Guru's Instruction. ||1||Pause||
ਅਨਿਕ ਉਪਾਵ ਚਿਤਵੀਅਹਿ ਬਹੁਤੇਰੇ ਸਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਜਿ ਬਾਤ ਹੋਵੈਨੀ ॥
anik upaav chitave'eeh bahutere saa hovai j baat hovainee ||
People think of many and various efforts, but that alone happens, which is to happen.
ਅਪਨਾ ਭਲਾ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਈ ਬਾਛੈ ਸੋ ਕਰੇ ਜਿ ਮੇਰੈ ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਚਿਤੈਨੀ ॥੨॥
apanaa bhalaa sabh koiee baachhai so kare j merai chit na chitainee ||2||
All beings seek goodness for themselves, but what the Lord does - that may not be what we think and expect. ||2||
ਮਨ ਕੀ ਮਤਿ ਤਿਆਗਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਏਹਾ ਬਾਤ ਕਠੈਨੀ ॥
man kee mat tiaagahu har jan ehaa baat kaThainee ||
So renounce the clever intellect of your mind, O humble servants of the Lord, no matter how hard this may be.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਮਤਿ ਲੈਨੀ ॥੩॥
anadhin har har naam dhiaavahu gur satigur kee mat lainee ||3||
Night and day, meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, Har, Har; accept the wisdom of the Guru, the True Guru. ||3||
ਮਤਿ ਸੁਮਤਿ ਤੇਰੈ ਵਸਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹਮ ਜੰਤ ਤੂ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਜੰਤੈਨੀ ॥
mat sumat terai vas suaamee ham ja(n)t too purakh ja(n)tainee ||
Wisdom, balanced wisdom is in Your power, O Lord and Master; I am the instrument, and You are the player, O Primal Lord.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਰਤੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਵੈ ਬੁਲੈਨੀ ॥੪॥੫॥
jan naanak ke prabh karate suaamee jiau bhaavai tivai bulainee ||4||5||
O God, O Creator, Lord and Master of servant Nanak, as You wish, so do I speak. ||4||5||
ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥

Bilaaval, Fourth Mehla:
ਅਨਦ ਮੂਲੁ ਧਿਆਇਓ ਪੁਰਖੋਤਮੁ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਅਨਦ ਅਨੰਦੇ ॥
anadh mool dhiaaio purakhotam anadhin anadh ana(n)dhe ||
I meditate on the source of bliss, the Sublime Primal Being; night and day, I am in ecstasy and bliss.
ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ਕੀ ਕਾਣਿ ਚੁਕਾਈ ਸਭਿ ਚੂਕੇ ਜਮ ਕੇ ਛੰਦੇ ॥੧॥
dharam rai kee kaan chukaiee sabh chooke jam ke chha(n)dhe ||1||
The Righteous Judge of Dharma has no power over me; I have cast off all subservience to the Messenger of Death. ||1||
ਜਪਿ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਗੋੁਬਿੰਦੇ ॥
jap man har har naam guobi(n)dhe ||
Meditate, O mind, on the Naam, the Name of the Lord of the Universe.
ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
vaddabhaagee gur satigur paiaa gun gaae paramaana(n)dhe ||1|| rahaau ||
By great good fortune, I have found the Guru, the True Guru; I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of supreme bliss. ||1||Pause||
ਸਾਕਤ ਮੂੜ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਬਧਿਕ ਵਿਚਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਫਿਰੰਦੇ ॥
saakat mooR maiaa ke badhik vich maiaa fireh fira(n)dhe ||
The foolish faithless cynics are held captive by Maya; in Maya, they continue wandering, wandering around.
ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਜਲਤ ਕਿਰਤ ਕੇ ਬਾਧੇ ਜਿਉ ਤੇਲੀ ਬਲਦ ਭਵੰਦੇ ॥੨॥
tirasanaa jalat kirat ke baadhe jiau telee baladh bhava(n)dhe ||2||
Burnt by desire, and bound by the karma of their past actions, they go round and round, like the ox at the mill press. ||2||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੇਵ ਲਗੇ ਸੇ ਉਧਰੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਸੇਵ ਕਰੰਦੇ ॥
gurmukh sev lage se udhare vaddabhaagee sev kara(n)dhe ||
The Gurmukhs, who focus on serving the Guru, are saved; by great good fortune, they perform service.
ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਭਿ ਤੂਟੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਫੰਦੇ ॥੩॥
jin har japiaa tin fal paiaa sabh tooTe maiaa fa(n)dhe ||3||
Those who meditate on the Lord obtain the fruits of their rewards, and the bonds of Maya are all broken. ||3||
ਆਪੇ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਆਪੇ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਸਭੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੇ ॥
aape Thaakur aape sevak sabh aape aap govi(n)dhe ||
He Himself is the Lord and Master, and He Himself is the servant. The Lord of the Universe Himself is all by Himself.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਸਭੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਜਿਉ ਰਾਖੈ ਤਿਵੈ ਰਹੰਦੇ ॥੪॥੬॥
jan naanak aape aap sabh varatai jiau raakhai tivai raha(n)dhe ||4||6||
O servant Nanak, He Himself is All-pervading; as He keeps us, we remain. ||4||6||

Raag Bilaaval, Fourth Mehla, Partaal, Thirteenth House:
ਬੋਲਹੁ ਭਈਆ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਤਿਤ ਪਾਵਨੋ ॥
bolahu bhieeaa raam naam patit paavano ||
O Siblings of Destiny, chant the Name of the Lord, the Purifier of sinners.
ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤ ਭਗਤ ਤਾਰਨੋ ॥
har sa(n)t bhagat taarano ||
The Lord emancipates his Saints and devotees.
