ਪੂਰੀ ਭਈ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥੩॥
pooree bhiee simar simar bidhaataa ||3||
Meditating, meditating in remembrance on the Creator Lord, the Architect of Destiny, I am fulfilled. ||3||
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਨਾਨਕਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਾਣਿਆ ॥
saadhasa(n)g naanak ra(n)g maaniaa ||
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, Nanak enjoys the Lord's Love.
ਘਰਿ ਆਇਆ ਪੂਰੈ ਗੁਰਿ ਆਣਿਆ ॥੪॥੧੨॥੧੭॥
ghar aaiaa poorai gur aaniaa ||4||12||17||
He has returned home, with the Perfect Guru. ||4||12||17||
ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Bilaaval, Fifth Mehla:
ਸ੍ਰਬ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
srab nidhaan pooran gurdhev ||1|| rahaau ||
All treasures come from the Perfect Divine Guru. ||1||Pause||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਨਰ ਜੀਵੇ ॥
har har naam japat nar jeeve ||
Chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, the man lives.
ਮਰਿ ਖੁਆਰੁ ਸਾਕਤ ਨਰ ਥੀਵੇ ॥੧॥
mar khuaar saakat nar theeve ||1||
The faithless cynic dies in shame and misery. ||1||
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੋਆ ਰਖਵਾਰਾ ॥
raam naam hoaa rakhavaaraa ||
The Name of the Lord has become my Protector.
ਝਖ ਮਾਰਉ ਸਾਕਤੁ ਵੇਚਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
jhakh maarau saakat vechaaraa ||2||
The wretched, faithless cynic makes only useless efforts. ||2||
ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਪਚਹਿ ਘਨੇਰੇ ॥
ni(n)dhaa kar kar pacheh ghanere ||
Spreading slander, many have been ruined.
ਮਿਰਤਕ ਫਾਸ ਗਲੈ ਸਿਰਿ ਪੈਰੇ ॥੩॥
mritak faas galai sir paire ||3||
Their necks, heads and feet are tied by death's noose. ||3||
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਪਹਿ ਜਨ ਨਾਮ ॥
kahu naanak japeh jan naam ||
Says Nanak, the humble devotees chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਤਾ ਕੇ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਮ ॥੪॥੧੩॥੧੮॥
taa ke nikaT na aavai jaam ||4||13||18||
The Messenger of Death does not even approach them. ||4||13||18||

ਕਵਨ ਸੰਜੋਗ ਮਿਲਉ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪਨੇ ॥
kavan sa(n)jog milau prabh apane ||
What blessed destiny will lead me to meet my God?
ਪਲੁ ਪਲੁ ਨਿਮਖ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਨੇ ॥੧॥
pal pal nimakh sadhaa har japane ||1||
Each and every moment and instant, I continually meditate on the Lord. ||1||
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇ ਨਿਤ ਧਿਆਵਉ ॥
charan kamal prabh ke nit dhiaavau ||
I meditate continually on the Lotus Feet of God.
ਕਵਨ ਸੁ ਮਤਿ ਜਿਤੁ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਪਾਵਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kavan su mat jit preetam paavau ||1|| rahaau ||
What wisdom will lead me to attain my Beloved? ||1||Pause||
ਐਸੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਰੇ ॥
aaisee kirapaa karahu prabh mere ||
Please, bless me with such Mercy, O my God,
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਸਰੁ ਨ ਕਾਹੂ ਬੇਰੇ ॥੨॥੧॥੧੯॥
har naanak bisar na kaahoo bere ||2||1||19||
that Nanak may never, ever forget You. ||2||1||19||

ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਧਿਆਏ ॥
charan kamal prabh hiradhai dhiaae ||
Within my heart, I meditate on the Lotus Feet of God.
ਰੋਗ ਗਏ ਸਗਲੇ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਏ ॥੧॥
rog ge sagale sukh paae ||1||
Disease is gone, and I have found total peace. ||1||
ਗੁਰਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਾਟਿਆ ਦੀਨੋ ਦਾਨੁ ॥
gur dhukh kaaTiaa dheeno dhaan ||
The Guru relieved my sufferings, and blessed me with the gift.
ਸਫਲ ਜਨਮੁ ਜੀਵਨ ਪਰਵਾਨੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
safal janam jeevan paravaan ||1|| rahaau ||
My birth has been rendered fruitful, and my life is approved. ||1||Pause||
ਅਕਥ ਕਥਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਾਨੀ ॥
akath kathaa a(n)mirat prabh baanee ||
The Ambrosial Bani of God's Word is the Unspoken Speech.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵੇ ਗਿਆਨੀ ॥੨॥੨॥੨੦॥
kahu naanak jap jeeve giaanee ||2||2||20||
Says Nanak, the spiritually wise live by meditating on God. ||2||2||20||

ਸਾਂਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਗੁਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੇ ॥
saa(n)t paiee gur satigur poore ||
The Guru, the Perfect True Guru, has blessed me with peace and tranquility.
ਸੁਖ ਉਪਜੇ ਬਾਜੇ ਅਨਹਦ ਤੂਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sukh upaje baaje anahadh toore ||1|| rahaau ||
Peace and joy have welled up, and the mystical trumpets of the unstruck sound current vibrate. ||1||Pause||
ਤਾਪ ਪਾਪ ਸੰਤਾਪ ਬਿਨਾਸੇ ॥
taap paap sa(n)taap binaase ||
Sufferings, sins and afflictions have been dispelled.
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਸਭਿ ਨਾਸੇ ॥੧॥
har simarat kilavikh sabh naase ||1||
Remembering the Lord in meditation, all sinful mistakes have been erased. ||1||
ਅਨਦੁ ਕਰਹੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਨਾਰੀ ॥
anadh karahu mil su(n)dhar naaree ||
Joining together, O beautiful soul-brides, celebrate and make merry.
ਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਨਕਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਪੈਜ ਸਵਾਰੀ ॥੨॥੩॥੨੧॥
gur naanak meree paij savaaree ||2||3||21||
Guru Nanak has saved my honor. ||2||3||21||
ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

ਮਮਤਾ ਮੋਹ ਧ੍ਰੋਹ ਮਦਿ ਮਾਤਾ ਬੰਧਨਿ ਬਾਧਿਆ ਅਤਿ ਬਿਕਰਾਲ ॥
mamataa moh dhroh madh maataa ba(n)dhan baadhiaa at bikaraal ||
Intoxicated with the wine of attachment, love of worldly possessions and deceit, and bound in bondage, he is wild and hideous.
ਦਿਨੁ ਦਿਨੁ ਛਿਜਤ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਕਰਤ ਅਉਧ ਫਾਹੀ ਫਾਥਾ ਜਮ ਕੈ ਜਾਲ ॥੧॥
dhin dhin chhijat bikaar karat aaudh faahee faathaa jam kai jaal ||1||
Day by day, his life is winding down; practicing sin and corruption, he is trapped by the noose of Death. ||1||
ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
teree saran prabh dheen dhiaalaa ||
I seek Your Sanctuary, O God, Merciful to the meek.
ਮਹਾ ਬਿਖਮ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਅਤਿ ਭਾਰੀ ਉਧਰਹੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਵਾਲਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
mahaa bikham saagar at bhaaree udharahu saadhoo sa(n)g ravaalaa ||1|| rahaau ||
I have crossed over the terrible, treacherous, enormous world-ocean, with the dust of the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||1||Pause||
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁਖਦਾਤੇ ਸਮਰਥ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭੁ ਤੁਮਰਾ ਮਾਲ ॥
prabh sukhadhaate samarath suaamee jeeau pi(n)dd sabh tumaraa maal ||
O God, Giver of peace, All-powerful Lord and Master, my soul, body and all wealth are Yours.
ਭ੍ਰਮ ਕੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟਹੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਦਾ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ॥੨॥੪॥੨੨॥
bhram ke ba(n)dhan kaaTahu paramesar naanak ke prabh sadhaa kirapaal ||2||4||22||
Please, break my bonds of doubt, O Transcendent Lord, forever Merciful God of Nanak. ||2||4||22||

ਸਗਲ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਕੀਆ ਪਰਮੇਸਰਿ ਅਪਣਾ ਬਿਰਦੁ ਸਮੑਾਰਿਆ ॥
sagal ana(n)dh keeaa paramesar apanaa biradh sam(h)aariaa ||
The Transcendent Lord has brought bliss to all; He has confirmed His Natural Way.
ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਹੋਏ ਕਿਰਪਾਲਾ ਬਿਗਸੇ ਸਭਿ ਪਰਵਾਰਿਆ ॥੧॥
saadh janaa hoe kirapaalaa bigase sabh paravaariaa ||1||
He has become Merciful to the humble, holy Saints, and all my relatives blossom forth in joy. ||1||
ਕਾਰਜੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ ॥
kaaraj satigur aap savaariaa ||
The True Guru Himself has resolved my affairs.
