ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹੋਇ ਤੁਮੑਾਰਾ ਚੀਤ ॥
niramal hoi tum(h)aaraa cheet ||
Your consciousness shall become immaculate and pure.
ਮਨ ਤਨ ਕੀ ਸਭ ਮਿਟੈ ਬਲਾਇ ॥
man tan kee sabh miTai balai ||
All the misfortunes of your mind and body shall be taken away,
ਦੂਖੁ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਸਗਲਾ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥
dhookh a(n)dheraa sagalaa jai ||1||
and all your pain and darkness will be dispelled. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਤ ਤਰੀਐ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
har gun gaavat tareeaai sa(n)saar ||
Singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, cross over the world-ocean.
ਵਡ ਭਾਗੀ ਪਾਈਐ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
vadd bhaagee paieeaai purakh apaar ||1|| rahaau ||
By great good fortune, one attains the Infinite Lord, the Primal Being. ||1||Pause||
ਜੋ ਜਨੁ ਕਰੈ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥ ਤਿਸ ਕਉ ਪੋਹਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਜਮਕਾਲੁ ॥
jo jan karai keeratan gopaal || tis kau poh na sakai jamakaal ||
The Messenger of Death cannot even touch that humble being, who sings the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises.
ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਆਇਆ ਸੋ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅਪਨਾ ਖਸਮੁ ਪਛਾਣੁ ॥੨॥
jag meh aaiaa so paravaan || gurmukh apanaa khasam pachhaan ||2||
The Gurmukh realizes his Lord and Master; his coming into this world is approved. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
har gun gaavai sa(n)t prasaadh ||
He sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord, by the Grace of the Saints;
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਮਿਟਹਿ ਉਨਮਾਦ ॥
kaam karodh miTeh unamaadh ||
his sexual desire, anger and madness are eradicated.
ਸਦਾ ਹਜੂਰਿ ਜਾਣੁ ਭਗਵੰਤ ॥
sadhaa hajoor jaan bhagava(n)t ||
He knows the Lord God to be ever-present.
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਮੰਤ ॥੩॥
poore gur kaa pooran ma(n)t ||3||
This is the Perfect Teaching of the Perfect Guru. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਖਾਟਿ ਕੀਏ ਭੰਡਾਰ ॥
har dhan khaaT ke'ee bha(n)ddaar ||
He earns the treasure of the Lord's wealth.
ਮਿਲਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਭਿ ਕਾਜ ਸਵਾਰ ॥
mil satigur sabh kaaj savaar ||
Meeting with the True Guru, all his affairs are resolved.
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਰੰਗ ਸੰਗਿ ਜਾਗਾ ॥
har ke naam ra(n)g sa(n)g jaagaa ||
He is awake and aware in the Love of the Lord's Name;
ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥੪॥੧੪॥੧੬॥
har charanee naanak man laagaa ||4||14||16||
O Nanak, his mind is attached to the Lord's Feet. ||4||14||16||
ਗੋਂਡ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
go(n)dd mahalaa panjavaa ||
Gond, Fifth Mehla:
ਭਵ ਸਾਗਰ ਬੋਹਿਥ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ॥
bhav saagar bohith har charan ||
The Lord's Feet are the boat to cross over the terrifying world-ocean.
ਸਿਮਰਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਮਰਣ ॥
simarat naam naahee fir maran ||
Meditating in remembrance on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, he does not die again.
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਰਮਤ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਮ ਪੰਥ ॥
har gun ramat naahee jam pa(n)th ||
Chanting the Glorious Praises of the Lord, he does not have to walk on the Path of Death.
ਮਹਾ ਬੀਚਾਰ ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤਹ ਮੰਥ ॥੧॥
mahaa beechaar pa(n)ch dhooteh ma(n)th ||1||
Contemplating the Supreme Lord, the five demons are conquered. ||1||
ਤਉ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਪੂਰਨ ਨਾਥ ॥
tau saranaiee pooran naath ||
I have entered Your Sanctuary, O Perfect Lord and Master.
ਜੰਤ ਅਪਨੇ ਕਉ ਦੀਜਹਿ ਹਾਥ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ja(n)t apane kau dheejeh haath ||1|| rahaau ||
Please give Your hand to Your creatures. ||1||Pause||
ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਣ ॥
simirat saasatr bedh puraan ||
The Simritees, Shaastras, Vedas and Puraanas
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਵਖਿਆਣ ॥
paarabraham kaa kareh vakhiaan ||
expound upon the Supreme Lord God.
ਜੋਗੀ ਜਤੀ ਬੈਸਨੋ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ॥
jogee jatee baisano raamadhaas ||
The Yogis, celibates, Vaishnavs and followers of Ram Das
ਮਿਤਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਅਬਿਨਾਸ ॥੨॥
mit naahee braham abinaas ||2||
cannot find the limits of the Eternal Lord God. ||2||
ਕਰਣ ਪਲਾਹ ਕਰਹਿ ਸਿਵ ਦੇਵ ॥
karan palaeh kareh siv dhev ||
Shiva and the gods lament and moan,
ਤਿਲੁ ਨਹੀ ਬੂਝਹਿ ਅਲਖ ਅਭੇਵ ॥
til nahee boojheh alakh abhev ||
but they do not understand even a tiny bit of the unseen and unknown Lord.
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਇ ॥
prem bhagat jis aape dhei ||
One whom the Lord Himself blesses with loving devotional worship,
ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਕੇਈ ਕੇਇ ॥੩॥
jag meh virale keiee kei ||3||
is very rare in this world. ||3||
ਮੋਹਿ ਨਿਰਗੁਣ ਗੁਣੁ ਕਿਛਹੂ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
moh niragun gun kichhahoo naeh ||
I am worthless, with absolutely no virtue at all;
ਸਰਬ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਤੇਰੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟੀ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
sarab nidhaan teree dhirasaTee maeh ||
all treasures are in Your Glance of Grace.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਦੀਨੁ ਜਾਚੈ ਤੇਰੀ ਸੇਵ ॥
naanak dheen jaachai teree sev ||
Nanak, the meek, desires only to serve You.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦੀਜੈ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ॥੪॥੧੫॥੧੭॥
kar kirapaa dheejai gurdhev ||4||15||17||
Please be merciful, and grant him this blessing, O Divine Guru. ||4||15||17||
ਗੋਂਡ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
go(n)dd mahalaa panjavaa ||
Gond, Fifth Mehla:
ਸੰਤ ਕਾ ਲੀਆ ਧਰਤਿ ਬਿਦਾਰਉ ॥
sa(n)t kaa leeaa dharat bidhaarau ||
One who is cursed by the Saints, is thrown down on the ground.
ਸੰਤ ਕਾ ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਅਕਾਸ ਤੇ ਟਾਰਉ ॥
sa(n)t kaa ni(n)dhak akaas te Taarau ||
The slanderer of the Saints is thrown down from the skies.
ਸੰਤ ਕਉ ਰਾਖਉ ਅਪਨੇ ਜੀਅ ਨਾਲਿ ॥
sa(n)t kau raakhau apane jeea naal ||
I hold the Saints close to my soul.
ਸੰਤ ਉਧਾਰਉ ਤਤਖਿਣ ਤਾਲਿ ॥੧॥
sa(n)t udhaarau tatakhin taal ||1||
The Saints are saved instantaneously. ||1||
ਸੋਈ ਸੰਤੁ ਜਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਰਾਮ ॥
soiee sa(n)t j bhaavai raam ||
He alone is a Saint, who is pleasing to the Lord.
ਸੰਤ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਕੈ ਏਕੈ ਕਾਮ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sa(n)t gobi(n)dh kai ekai kaam ||1|| rahaau ||
The Saints, and God, have only one job to do. ||1||Pause||
ਸੰਤ ਕੈ ਊਪਰਿ ਦੇਇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਹਾਥ ॥
sa(n)t kai uoopar dhei prabh haath ||
God gives His hand to shelter the Saints.
ਸੰਤ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਬਸੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਿ ॥
sa(n)t kai sa(n)g basai dhin raat ||
He dwells with His Saints, day and night.
ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਸੰਤਹ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਿ ॥
saas saas sa(n)teh pratipaal ||
With each and every breath, He cherishes His Saints.
ਸੰਤ ਕਾ ਦੋਖੀ ਰਾਜ ਤੇ ਟਾਲਿ ॥੨॥
sa(n)t kaa dhokhee raaj te Taal ||2||
He takes the power away from the enemies of the Saints. ||2||
ਸੰਤ ਕੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
sa(n)t kee ni(n)dhaa karahu na koi ||
Let no one slander the Saints.
ਜੋ ਨਿੰਦੈ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਪਤਨੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
jo ni(n)dhai tis kaa patan hoi ||
Whoever slanders them, will be destroyed.
ਜਿਸ ਕਉ ਰਾਖੈ ਸਿਰਜਨਹਾਰੁ ॥
jis kau raakhai sirajanahaar ||
One who is protected by the Creator Lord,
ਝਖ ਮਾਰਉ ਸਗਲ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥੩॥
jhakh maarau sagal sa(n)saar ||3||
cannot be harmed, no matter how much the whole world may try. ||3||
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪਨੇ ਕਾ ਭਇਆ ਬਿਸਾਸੁ ॥
prabh apane kaa bhiaa bisaas ||
I place my faith in my God.
ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭੁ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
jeeau pi(n)dd sabh tis kee raas ||
My soul and body all belong to Him.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਉਪਜੀ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ॥
naanak kau upajee parateet ||
This is the faith which inspires Nanak:
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਹਾਰ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਸਦ ਜੀਤਿ ॥੪॥੧੬॥੧੮॥
manmukh haar gurmukh sadh jeet ||4||16||18||
the self-willed manmukhs will fail, while the Gurmukhs will always win. ||4||16||18||

ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਨੀਰਿ ਨਰਾਇਣ ॥
naam nira(n)jan neer narain ||
The Name of the Immaculate Lord is the Ambrosial Water.
ਰਸਨਾ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਪਾਪ ਬਿਲਾਇਣ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
rasanaa simarat paap bilain ||1|| rahaau ||
Chanting it with the tongue, sins are washed away. ||1||Pause||
