ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਸਭ ਮਾਹਿ ਨਿਵਾਸ ॥
naarain sabh maeh nivaas ||
The Lord abides in everyone.
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਪਰਗਾਸ ॥
naarain ghaT ghaT paragaas ||
The Lord illumines each and every heart.
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਕਹਤੇ ਨਰਕਿ ਨ ਜਾਹਿ ॥
naarain kahate narak na jaeh ||
Chanting the Lord's Name, one does not fall into hell.
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਗਲ ਫਲ ਪਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
naarain sev sagal fal paeh ||1||
Serving the Lord, all fruitful rewards are obtained. ||1||
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਅਧਾਰ ॥
naarain man maeh adhaar ||
Within my mind is the Support of the Lord.
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਬੋਹਿਥ ਸੰਸਾਰ ॥
naarain bohith sa(n)saar ||
The Lord is the boat to cross over the world-ocean.
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਕਹਤ ਜਮੁ ਭਾਗਿ ਪਲਾਇਣ ॥
naarain kahat jam bhaag palain ||
Chant the Lord's Name, and the Messenger of Death will run away.
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਦੰਤ ਭਾਨੇ ਡਾਇਣ ॥੨॥
naarain dha(n)t bhaane ddain ||2||
The Lord breaks the teeth of Maya, the witch. ||2||
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਸਦ ਸਦ ਬਖਸਿੰਦ ॥
naarain sadh sadh bakhasi(n)dh ||
The Lord is forever and ever the Forgiver.
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਕੀਨੇ ਸੂਖ ਅਨੰਦ ॥
naarain keene sookh ana(n)dh ||
The Lord blesses us with peace and bliss.
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕੀਨੋ ਪਰਤਾਪ ॥
naarain pragaT keeno parataap ||
The Lord has revealed His glory.
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਸੰਤ ਕੋ ਮਾਈ ਬਾਪ ॥੩॥
naarain sa(n)t ko maiee baap ||3||
The Lord is the mother and father of His Saint. ||3||
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਨਰਾਇਣ ॥
naarain saadhasa(n)g narain ||
The Lord, the Lord, is in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਬਾਰੰ ਬਾਰ ਨਰਾਇਣ ਗਾਇਣ ॥
baara(n) baar narain gain ||
Time and time again, I sing the Lord's Praises.
ਬਸਤੁ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਲਹੀ ॥
basat agochar gur mil lahee ||
Meeting with the Guru, I have attained the incomprehensible object.
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਓਟ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਗਹੀ ॥੪॥੧੭॥੧੯॥

Slave Nanak has grasped the Support of the Lord. ||4||17||19||

Gond, Fifth Mehla:
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਰਾਖੈ ਰਾਖਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
jaa kau raakhai raakhanahaar ||
One who is protected by the Protector Lord
ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਅੰਗੁ ਕਰੇ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tis kaa a(n)g kare nira(n)kaar ||1|| rahaau ||
- the Formless Lord is on his side. ||1||Pause||
ਮਾਤ ਗਰਭ ਮਹਿ ਅਗਨਿ ਨ ਜੋਹੈ ॥
maat garabh meh agan na johai ||
In the mother's womb, the fire does not touch him.
ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਨ ਪੋਹੈ ॥
kaam karodh lobh moh na pohai ||
Sexual desire, anger, greed and emotional attachment do not affect him.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜਪੈ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ॥
saadhasa(n)g japai nira(n)kaar ||
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, he meditates on the Formless Lord.
ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕੈ ਮੁਹਿ ਲਾਗੈ ਛਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
ni(n)dhak kai muh laagai chhaar ||1||
Dust is thrown into the faces of the slanderers. ||1||
ਰਾਮ ਕਵਚੁ ਦਾਸ ਕਾ ਸੰਨਾਹੁ ॥
raam kavach dhaas kaa sa(n)naahu ||
The Lord's protective spell is the armor of His slave.
ਦੂਤ ਦੁਸਟ ਤਿਸੁ ਪੋਹਤ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
dhoot dhusaT tis pohat naeh ||
The wicked, evil demons cannot even touch him.
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਗਰਬੁ ਕਰੇ ਸੋ ਜਾਇ ॥
jo jo garab kare so jai ||
Whoever indulges in egotistical pride, shall waste away to ruin.
ਗਰੀਬ ਦਾਸ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਰਣਾਇ ॥੨॥
gareeb dhaas kee prabh saranai ||2||
God is the Sanctuary of His humble slave. ||2||
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ॥
jo jo saran piaa har rai ||
Whoever enters the Sanctuary of the Sovereign Lord
ਸੋ ਦਾਸੁ ਰਖਿਆ ਅਪਣੈ ਕੰਠਿ ਲਾਇ ॥
so dhaas rakhiaa apanai ka(n)Th lai ||
- He saves that slave, hugging him close in His embrace.
ਜੇ ਕੋ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਕਰੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ॥
je ko bahut kare aha(n)kaar ||
Whoever takes great pride in himself,
ਓਹੁ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਰੁਲਤਾ ਖਾਕੂ ਨਾਲਿ ॥੩॥
oh khin meh rulataa khaakoo naal ||3||
in an instant, shall be like dust mixing with dust. ||3||
ਹੈ ਭੀ ਸਾਚਾ ਹੋਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
hai bhee saachaa hovanahaar ||
The True Lord is, and shall always be.
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਜਾੲਂੀ ਬਲਿਹਾਰ ॥
sadhaa sadhaa jaae(n)ee balihaar ||
Forever and ever, I am a sacrifice to Him.
ਅਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਰਖੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
apane dhaas rakhe kirapaa dhaar ||
Granting His Mercy, He saves His slaves.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਅਧਾਰ ॥੪॥੧੮॥੨੦॥
naanak ke prabh praan adhaar ||4||18||20||
God is the Support of Nanak's breath of life. ||4||18||20||
ਗੋਂਡ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Gond, Fifth Mehla:
ਅਚਰਜ ਕਥਾ ਮਹਾ ਅਨੂਪ ॥ ਪ੍ਰਾਤਮਾ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕਾ ਰੂਪੁ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
acharaj kathaa mahaa anoop || praatamaa paarabraham kaa roop || rahaau ||
Wondrous and beautiful is the description of the beauty of the Supreme Soul, the Supreme Lord God. ||Pause||
ਨਾ ਇਹੁ ਬੂਢਾ ਨਾ ਇਹੁ ਬਾਲਾ ॥
naa ih booddaa naa ih baalaa ||
He is not old; He is not young.
ਨਾ ਇਸੁ ਦੂਖੁ ਨਹੀ ਜਮ ਜਾਲਾ ॥
naa is dhookh nahee jam jaalaa ||
He is not in pain; He is not caught in Death's noose.
ਨਾ ਇਹੁ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਨਾ ਇਹੁ ਜਾਇ ॥
naa ih binasai naa ih jai ||
He does not die; He does not go away.
ਆਦਿ ਜੁਗਾਦੀ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥
aadh jugaadhee rahiaa samai ||1||
In the beginning, and throughout the ages, He is permeating everywhere. ||1||
ਨਾ ਇਸੁ ਉਸਨੁ ਨਹੀ ਇਸੁ ਸੀਤੁ ॥
naa is usan nahee is seet ||
He is not hot; He is not cold.
ਨਾ ਇਸੁ ਦੁਸਮਨੁ ਨਾ ਇਸੁ ਮੀਤੁ ॥
naa is dhusaman naa is meet ||
He has no enemy; He has no friend.
ਨਾ ਇਸੁ ਹਰਖੁ ਨਹੀ ਇਸੁ ਸੋਗੁ ॥
naa is harakh nahee is sog ||
He is not happy; He is not sad.
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਇਸ ਕਾ ਇਹੁ ਕਰਨੈ ਜੋਗੁ ॥੨॥
sabh kichh is kaa ih karanai jog ||2||
Everything belongs to Him; He can do anything. ||2||
ਨਾ ਇਸੁ ਬਾਪੁ ਨਹੀ ਇਸੁ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
naa is baap nahee is maiaa ||
He has no father; He has no mother.
ਇਹੁ ਅਪਰੰਪਰੁ ਹੋਤਾ ਆਇਆ ॥
eih apara(n)par hotaa aaiaa ||
He is beyond the beyond, and has always been so.
ਪਾਪ ਪੁੰਨ ਕਾ ਇਸੁ ਲੇਪੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ॥
paap pu(n)n kaa is lep na laagai ||
He is not affected by virtue or vice.
ਘਟ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਜਾਗੈ ॥੩॥
ghaT ghaT a(n)tar sadh hee jaagai ||3||
Deep within each and every heart, He is always awake and aware. ||3||
ਤੀਨਿ ਗੁਣਾ ਇਕ ਸਕਤਿ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥
teen gunaa ik sakat upaiaa ||
From the three qualities, the one mechanism of Maya was produced.
ਮਹਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਹੈ ਛਾਇਆ ॥
mahaa maiaa taa kee hai chhaiaa ||
The great Maya is only His shadow.
ਅਛਲ ਅਛੇਦ ਅਭੇਦ ਦਇਆਲ ॥
achhal achhedh abhedh dhiaal ||
He is undeceivable, impenetrable, unfathomable and merciful.
ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਸਦਾ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ॥
dheen dhiaal sadhaa kirapaal ||
He is merciful to the meek, forever compassionate.
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥
taa kee gat mit kachhoo na pai ||
His state and limits cannot ever be known.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਇ ॥੪॥੧੯॥੨੧॥
naanak taa kai bal bal jai ||4||19||21||
Nanak is a sacrifice, a sacrifice to Him. ||4||19||21||
