ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਰੇ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
gireh sobhaa jaa kai re naeh ||
When someone's household has no glory,
ਆਵਤ ਪਹੀਆ ਖੂਧੇ ਜਾਹਿ ॥
aavat paheeaa khoodhe jaeh ||
the guests who come there depart still hungry.
ਵਾ ਕੈ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਨਹੀ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ॥
vaa kai a(n)tar nahee sa(n)tokh ||
Deep within, there is no contentment.
ਬਿਨੁ ਸੋਹਾਗਨਿ ਲਾਗੈ ਦੋਖੁ ॥੧॥
bin sohaagan laagai dhokh ||1||
Without his bride, the wealth of Maya, he suffers in pain. ||1||
ਧਨੁ ਸੋਹਾਗਨਿ ਮਹਾ ਪਵੀਤ ॥ ਤਪੇ ਤਪੀਸਰ ਡੋਲੈ ਚੀਤ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
dhan sohaagan mahaa paveet || tape tapeesar ddolai cheet ||1|| rahaau ||
So praise this bride, which can shake the consciousness of even the most dedicated ascetics and sages. ||1||Pause||
ਸੋਹਾਗਨਿ ਕਿਰਪਨ ਕੀ ਪੂਤੀ ॥
sohaagan kirapan kee pootee ||
This bride is the daughter of a wretched miser.
ਸੇਵਕ ਤਜਿ ਜਗਤ ਸਿਉ ਸੂਤੀ ॥
sevak taj jagat siau sootee ||
Abandoning the Lord's servant, she sleeps with the world.
ਸਾਧੂ ਕੈ ਠਾਢੀ ਦਰਬਾਰਿ ॥
saadhoo kai Thaaddee dharabaar ||
Standing at the door of the holy man,
ਸਰਨਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਿ ॥੨॥
saran teree mo kau nisataar ||2||
she says, ""I have come to your sanctuary; now save me!""||2||
ਸੋਹਾਗਨਿ ਹੈ ਅਤਿ ਸੁੰਦਰੀ ॥
sohaagan hai at su(n)dharee ||
This bride is so beautiful.
ਪਗ ਨੇਵਰ ਛਨਕ ਛਨਹਰੀ ॥
pag nevar chhanak chhanaharee ||
The bells on her ankles make soft music.
ਜਉ ਲਗੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਤਊ ਲਗੁ ਸੰਗੇ ॥
jau lag praan tuoo lag sa(n)ge ||
As long as there is the breath of life in the man, she remains attached to him.
ਨਾਹਿ ਤ ਚਲੀ ਬੇਗਿ ਉਠਿ ਨੰਗੇ ॥੩॥
naeh ta chalee beg uTh na(n)ge ||3||
But when it is no more, she quickly gets up and departs, bare-footed. ||3||
ਸੋਹਾਗਨਿ ਭਵਨ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਲੀਆ ॥
sohaagan bhavan trai leeaa ||
This bride has conquered the three worlds.
ਦਸ ਅਠ ਪੁਰਾਣ ਤੀਰਥ ਰਸ ਕੀਆ ॥
dhas aTh puraan teerath ras keeaa ||
The eighteen Puraanas and the sacred shrines of pilgrimage love her as well.
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਮਹੇਸਰ ਬੇਧੇ ॥
brahamaa bisan mahesar bedhe ||
She pierced the hearts of Brahma, Shiva and Vishnu.
ਬਡੇ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਰਾਜੇ ਹੈ ਛੇਧੇ ॥੪॥
badde bhoopat raaje hai chhedhe ||4||
She destroyed the great emperors and kings of the world. ||4||
ਸੋਹਾਗਨਿ ਉਰਵਾਰਿ ਨ ਪਾਰਿ ॥
sohaagan uravaar na paar ||
This bride has no restraint or limits.
ਪਾਂਚ ਨਾਰਦ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਬਿਧਵਾਰਿ ॥
paa(n)ch naaradh kai sa(n)g bidhavaar ||
She is in collusion with the five thieving passions.
ਪਾਂਚ ਨਾਰਦ ਕੇ ਮਿਟਵੇ ਫੂਟੇ ॥
paa(n)ch naaradh ke miTave fooTe ||
When the clay pot of these five passions bursts,
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਛੂਟੇ ॥੫॥੫॥੮॥
kahu kabeer gur kirapaa chhooTe ||5||5||8||
then, says Kabeer, by Guru's Mercy, one is released. ||5||5||8||

Gond:
ਜੈਸੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਮਹਿ ਬਲਹਰ ਨਾ ਠਾਹਰੈ ॥
jaise ma(n)dhar meh balahar naa Thaaharai ||
As the house will not stand when the supporting beams are removed from within it,
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੈਸੇ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਰੈ ॥
naam binaa kaise paar utarai ||
just so, without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, how can anyone be carried across?
ਕੁੰਭ ਬਿਨਾ ਜਲੁ ਨਾ ਟੀਕਾਵੈ ॥
ku(n)bh binaa jal naa Teekaavai ||
Without the pitcher, the water is not contained;
ਸਾਧੂ ਬਿਨੁ ਐਸੇ ਅਬਗਤੁ ਜਾਵੈ ॥੧॥
saadhoo bin aaise abagat jaavai ||1||
just so, without the Holy Saint, the mortal departs in misery. ||1||
ਜਾਰਉ ਤਿਸੈ ਜੁ ਰਾਮੁ ਨ ਚੇਤੈ ॥
jaarau tisai ju raam na chetai ||
One who does not remember the Lord - let him burn;
ਤਨ ਮਨ ਰਮਤ ਰਹੈ ਮਹਿ ਖੇਤੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tan man ramat rahai meh khetai ||1|| rahaau ||
his body and mind have remained absorbed in this field of the world. ||1||Pause||
ਜੈਸੇ ਹਲਹਰ ਬਿਨਾ ਜਿਮੀ ਨਹੀ ਬੋਈਐ ॥
jaise halahar binaa jimee nahee boieeaai ||
Without a farmer, the land is not planted;
ਸੂਤ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੈਸੇ ਮਣੀ ਪਰੋਈਐ ॥
soot binaa kaise manee paroieeaai ||
without a thread, how can the beads be strung?
ਘੁੰਡੀ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਿਆ ਗੰਠਿ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਈਐ ॥
ghu(n)ddee bin kiaa ga(n)Th chaRhaieeaai ||
Without a loop, how can the knot be tied?
ਸਾਧੂ ਬਿਨੁ ਤੈਸੇ ਅਬਗਤੁ ਜਾਈਐ ॥੨॥
saadhoo bin taise abagat jaieeaai ||2||
Just so, without the Holy Saint, the mortal departs in misery. ||2||
ਜੈਸੇ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਬਾਲੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥
jaise maat pitaa bin baal na hoiee ||
Without a mother or father there is no child;
ਬਿੰਬ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੈਸੇ ਕਪਰੇ ਧੋਈ ॥
bi(n)b binaa kaise kapare dhoiee ||
just so, without water, how can the clothes be washed?
ਘੋਰ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੈਸੇ ਅਸਵਾਰ ॥
ghor binaa kaise asavaar ||
Without a horse, how can there be a rider?
ਸਾਧੂ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਦਰਵਾਰ ॥੩॥
saadhoo bin naahee dharavaar ||3||
Without the Holy Saint, one cannot reach the Court of the Lord. ||3||
ਜੈਸੇ ਬਾਜੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਹੀ ਲੀਜੈ ਫੇਰੀ ॥
jaise baaje bin nahee leejai feree ||
Just as without music, there is no dancing,
ਖਸਮਿ ਦੁਹਾਗਨਿ ਤਜਿ ਅਉਹੇਰੀ ॥
khasam dhuhaagan taj aauheree ||
the bride rejected by her husband is dishonored.
ਕਹੈ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਏਕੈ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਨਾ ॥
kahai kabeer ekai kar karanaa ||
Says Kabeer, do this one thing:
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਇ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨਹੀ ਮਰਨਾ ॥੪॥੬॥੯॥
gurmukh hoi bahur nahee maranaa ||4||6||9||
become Gurmukh, and you shall never die again. ||4||6||9||

Gond:
ਕੂਟਨੁ ਸੋਇ ਜੁ ਮਨ ਕਉ ਕੂਟੈ ॥
kooTan soi ju man kau kooTai ||
He alone is a pimp, who pounds down his mind.
ਮਨ ਕੂਟੈ ਤਉ ਜਮ ਤੇ ਛੂਟੈ ॥
man kooTai tau jam te chhooTai ||
Pounding down his mind, he escapes from the Messenger of Death.
ਕੁਟਿ ਕੁਟਿ ਮਨੁ ਕਸਵਟੀ ਲਾਵੈ ॥
kuT kuT man kasavaTee laavai ||
Pounding and beating his mind, he puts it to the test;
ਸੋ ਕੂਟਨੁ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਬਹੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੧॥
so kooTan mukat bahu paavai ||1||
such a pimp attains total liberation. ||1||
ਕੂਟਨੁ ਕਿਸੈ ਕਹਹੁ ਸੰਸਾਰ ॥
kooTan kisai kahahu sa(n)saar ||
Who is called a pimp in this world?
ਸਗਲ ਬੋਲਨ ਕੇ ਮਾਹਿ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sagal bolan ke maeh beechaar ||1|| rahaau ||
In all speech, one must carefully consider. ||1||Pause||
ਨਾਚਨੁ ਸੋਇ ਜੁ ਮਨ ਸਿਉ ਨਾਚੈ ॥
naachan soi ju man siau naachai ||
He alone is a dancer, who dances with his mind.
ਝੂਠਿ ਨ ਪਤੀਐ ਪਰਚੈ ਸਾਚੈ ॥
jhooTh na pateeaai parachai saachai ||
The Lord is not satisfied with falsehood; He is pleased only with Truth.
ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਆਗੇ ਪੂਰੈ ਤਾਲ ॥
eis man aage poorai taal ||
So play the beat of the drum in the mind.
ਇਸੁ ਨਾਚਨ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਰਖਵਾਲ ॥੨॥
eis naachan ke man rakhavaal ||2||
The Lord is the Protector of the dancer with such a mind. ||2||
ਬਜਾਰੀ ਸੋ ਜੁ ਬਜਾਰਹਿ ਸੋਧੈ ॥
bajaaree so ju bajaareh sodhai ||
She alone is a street-dancer, who cleanses her body-street,
ਪਾਂਚ ਪਲੀਤਹ ਕਉ ਪਰਬੋਧੈ ॥
paa(n)ch paleeteh kau parabodhai ||
and educates the five passions.
ਨਉ ਨਾਇਕ ਕੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਪਛਾਨੈ ॥
nau naik kee bhagat pachhaanai ||
She who embraces devotional worship for the Lord
ਸੋ ਬਾਜਾਰੀ ਹਮ ਗੁਰ ਮਾਨੇ ॥੩॥
so baajaaree ham gur maane ||3||
- I accept such a street-dancer as my Guru. ||3||
ਤਸਕਰੁ ਸੋਇ ਜਿ ਤਾਤਿ ਨ ਕਰੈ ॥
tasakar soi j taat na karai ||
He alone is a thief, who is above envy,
ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀ ਕੈ ਜਤਨਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਚਰੈ ॥
ei(n)dhree kai jatan naam ucharai ||
and who uses his sense organs to chant the Lord's Name.
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਹਮ ਐਸੇ ਲਖਨ ॥
kahu kabeer ham aaise lakhan ||
Says Kabeer, these are the qualities of the one
ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਅਤਿ ਰੂਪ ਬਿਚਖਨ ॥੪॥੭॥੧੦॥
dha(n)n gurdhev at roop bichakhan ||4||7||10||
I know as my Blessed Divine Guru, who is the most beautiful and wise. ||4||7||10||
