ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਪਾਲ ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ॥
dha(n)n gupaal dha(n)n gurdhev ||
Blessed is the Lord of the World. Blessed is the Divine Guru.
ਧੰਨੁ ਅਨਾਦਿ ਭੂਖੇ ਕਵਲੁ ਟਹਕੇਵ ॥
dha(n)n anaadh bhookhe kaval Tahakev ||
Blessed is that grain, by which the heart-lotus of the hungry blossoms forth.
ਧਨੁ ਓਇ ਸੰਤ ਜਿਨ ਐਸੀ ਜਾਨੀ ॥
dhan oi sa(n)t jin aaisee jaanee ||
Blessed are those Saints, who know this.
ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਮਿਲਿਬੋ ਸਾਰਿੰਗਪਾਨੀ ॥੧॥
tin kau milibo saari(n)gapaanee ||1||
Meeting with them, one meets the Lord, the Sustainer of the World. ||1||
ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਤੇ ਹੋਇ ਅਨਾਦਿ ॥
aadh purakh te hoi anaadh ||
This grain comes from the Primal Lord God.
ਜਪੀਐ ਨਾਮੁ ਅੰਨ ਕੈ ਸਾਦਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
japeeaai naam a(n)n kai saadh ||1|| rahaau ||
One chants the Naam, the Name of the Lord, only when he tastes this grain. ||1||Pause||
ਜਪੀਐ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੀਐ ਅੰਨੁ ॥
japeeaai naam japeeaai a(n)n ||
Meditate on the Naam, and meditate on this grain.
ਅੰਭੈ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਨੀਕਾ ਵੰਨੁ ॥
a(n)bhai kai sa(n)g neekaa va(n)n ||
Mixed with water, its taste becomes sublime.
ਅੰਨੈ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਜੋ ਨਰ ਹੋਵਹਿ ॥
a(n)nai baahar jo nar hoveh ||
One who abstains from this grain,
ਤੀਨਿ ਭਵਨ ਮਹਿ ਅਪਨੀ ਖੋਵਹਿ ॥੨॥
teen bhavan meh apanee khoveh ||2||
loses his honor in the three worlds. ||2||
ਛੋਡਹਿ ਅੰਨੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਪਾਖੰਡ ॥
chhoddeh a(n)n kareh paakha(n)dd ||
One who discards this grain, is practicing hypocrisy.
ਨਾ ਸੋਹਾਗਨਿ ਨਾ ਓਹਿ ਰੰਡ ॥
naa sohaagan naa oh ra(n)dd ||
She is neither a happy soul-bride, nor a widow.
ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਬਕਤੇ ਦੂਧਾਧਾਰੀ ॥
jag meh bakate dhoodhaadhaaree ||
Those who claim in this world that they live on milk alone,
ਗੁਪਤੀ ਖਾਵਹਿ ਵਟਿਕਾ ਸਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
gupatee khaaveh vaTikaa saaree ||3||
secretly eat whole loads of food. ||3||
ਅੰਨੈ ਬਿਨਾ ਨ ਹੋਇ ਸੁਕਾਲੁ ॥
a(n)nai binaa na hoi sukaal ||
Without this grain, time does not pass in peace.
ਤਜਿਐ ਅੰਨਿ ਨ ਮਿਲੈ ਗੁਪਾਲੁ ॥
tajiaai a(n)n na milai gupaal ||
Forsaking this grain, one does not meet the Lord of the World.
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਹਮ ਐਸੇ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥
kahu kabeer ham aaise jaaniaa ||
Says Kabeer, this I know:
ਧੰਨੁ ਅਨਾਦਿ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥੪॥੮॥੧੧॥

blessed is that grain, which brings faith in the Lord and Master to the mind. ||4||8||11||

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਅਸੁਮੇਧ ਜਗਨੇ ॥
asumedh jagane ||
The ritual sacrifice of horses,
ਤੁਲਾ ਪੁਰਖ ਦਾਨੇ ॥
tulaa purakh dhaane ||
giving one's weight in gold to charities,
ਪ੍ਰਾਗ ਇਸਨਾਨੇ ॥੧॥
praag isanaane ||1||
and ceremonial cleansing baths -||1||
ਤਉ ਨ ਪੁਜਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਨਾਮਾ ॥
tau na pujeh har keerat naamaa ||
These are not equal to singing the Praises of the Lord's Name.
ਅਪੁਨੇ ਰਾਮਹਿ ਭਜੁ ਰੇ ਮਨ ਆਲਸੀਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
apune raameh bhaj re man aalaseeaa ||1|| rahaau ||
Meditate on your Lord, you lazy man! ||1||Pause||
ਗਇਆ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਭਰਤਾ ॥
giaa pi(n)dd bharataa ||
Offering sweet rice at Gaya,
ਬਨਾਰਸਿ ਅਸਿ ਬਸਤਾ ॥
banaaras as basataa ||
living on the river banks at Benares,
ਮੁਖਿ ਬੇਦ ਚਤੁਰ ਪੜਤਾ ॥੨॥
mukh bedh chatur paRataa ||2||
reciting the four Vedas by heart;||2||
ਸਗਲ ਧਰਮ ਅਛਿਤਾ ॥
sagal dharam achhitaa ||
Completing all religious rituals,
ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਤਾ ॥
gur giaan i(n)dhree dhiraRataa ||
restraining sexual passion by the spiritual wisdom given by the Guru,
ਖਟੁ ਕਰਮ ਸਹਿਤ ਰਹਤਾ ॥੩॥
khaT karam sahit rahataa ||3||
and performing the six rituals;||3||
ਸਿਵਾ ਸਕਤਿ ਸੰਬਾਦੰ ॥
sivaa sakat sa(n)baadha(n) ||
Expounding on Shiva and Shakti
ਮਨ ਛੋਡਿ ਛੋਡਿ ਸਗਲ ਭੇਦੰ ॥
man chhodd chhodd sagal bhedha(n) ||
O man, renounce and abandon all these things.
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੰ ॥
simar simar gobi(n)dha(n) ||
Meditate, meditate in remembrance on the Lord of the Universe.
ਭਜੁ ਨਾਮਾ ਤਰਸਿ ਭਵ ਸਿੰਧੰ ॥੪॥੧॥
bhaj naamaa taras bhav si(n)dha(n) ||4||1||
Meditate, O Naam Dayv, and cross over the terrifying world-ocean. ||4||1||

ਨਾਦ ਭ੍ਰਮੇ ਜੈਸੇ ਮਿਰਗਾਏ ॥
naadh bhrame jaise miragaae ||
The deer is lured by the sound of the hunter's bell;
ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਤਜੇ ਵਾ ਕੋ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਏ ॥੧॥
praan taje vaa ko dhiaan na jaae ||1||
it loses its life, but it cannot stop thinking about it. ||1||
ਐਸੇ ਰਾਮਾ ਐਸੇ ਹੇਰਉ ॥
aaise raamaa aaise herau ||
In the same way, I look upon my Lord.
ਰਾਮੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਅਨਤ ਨ ਫੇਰਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
raam chhodd chit anat na ferau ||1|| rahaau ||
I will not abandon my Lord, and turn my thoughts to another. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਉ ਮੀਨਾ ਹੇਰੈ ਪਸੂਆਰਾ ॥
jiau meenaa herai pasooaaraa ||
As the fisherman looks upon the fish,
ਸੋਨਾ ਗਢਤੇ ਹਿਰੈ ਸੁਨਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
sonaa gaddate hirai sunaaraa ||2||
and the goldsmith looks upon the gold he fashions;||2||
ਜਿਉ ਬਿਖਈ ਹੇਰੈ ਪਰ ਨਾਰੀ ॥
jiau bikhiee herai par naaree ||
As the man driven by sex looks upon another man's wife,
ਕਉਡਾ ਡਾਰਤ ਹਿਰੈ ਜੁਆਰੀ ॥੩॥
kauddaa ddaarat hirai juaaree ||3||
and the gambler looks upon the throwing of the dice -||3||
ਜਹ ਜਹ ਦੇਖਉ ਤਹ ਤਹ ਰਾਮਾ ॥
jeh jeh dhekhau teh teh raamaa ||
In the same way, wherever Naam Dayv looks, he sees the Lord.
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਨਿਤ ਧਿਆਵੈ ਨਾਮਾ ॥੪॥੨॥
har ke charan nit dhiaavai naamaa ||4||2||
Naam Dayv meditates continuously on the Feet of the Lord. ||4||2||

ਮੋ ਕਉ ਤਾਰਿ ਲੇ ਰਾਮਾ ਤਾਰਿ ਲੇ ॥
mo kau taar le raamaa taar le ||
Carry me across, O Lord, carry me across.
ਮੈ ਅਜਾਨੁ ਜਨੁ ਤਰਿਬੇ ਨ ਜਾਨਉ ਬਾਪ ਬੀਠੁਲਾ ਬਾਹ ਦੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
mai ajaan jan taribe na jaanau baap beeThulaa baeh dhe ||1|| rahaau ||
I am ignorant, and I do not know how to swim. O my Beloved Father, please give me Your arm. ||1||Pause||
ਨਰ ਤੇ ਸੁਰ ਹੋਇ ਜਾਤ ਨਿਮਖ ਮੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬੁਧਿ ਸਿਖਲਾਈ ॥
nar te sur hoi jaat nimakh mai satigur budh sikhalaiee ||
I have been transformed from a mortal being into an angel, in an instant; the True Guru has taught me this.
ਨਰ ਤੇ ਉਪਜਿ ਸੁਰਗ ਕਉ ਜੀਤਿਓ ਸੋ ਅਵਖਧ ਮੈ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥
nar te upaj surag kau jeetio so avakhadh mai paiee ||1||
Born of human flesh, I have conquered the heavens; such is the medicine I was given. ||1||
ਜਹਾ ਜਹਾ ਧੂਅ ਨਾਰਦੁ ਟੇਕੇ ਨੈਕੁ ਟਿਕਾਵਹੁ ਮੋਹਿ ॥
jahaa jahaa dhooa naaradh Teke naik Tikaavahu moh ||
Please place me where You placed Dhroo and Naarad, O my Master.
ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਅਵਿਲੰਬਿ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਜਨ ਉਧਰੇ ਨਾਮੇ ਕੀ ਨਿਜ ਮਤਿ ਏਹ ॥੨॥੩॥
tere naam avila(n)b bahut jan udhare naame kee nij mat eh ||2||3||
With the Support of Your Name, so many have been saved; this is Naam Dayv's understanding. ||2||3||
