I am restless and unhappy.
ਬਛਰੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਗਾਇ ਅਕੇਲੀ ॥੧॥
bachhare bin gai akelee ||1||
Without her calf, the cow is lonely. ||1||
ਪਾਨੀਆ ਬਿਨੁ ਮੀਨੁ ਤਲਫੈ ॥
paaneeaa bin meen talafai ||
Without water, the fish writhes in pain.
ਐਸੇ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਬਾਪੁਰੋ ਨਾਮਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aaise raam naamaa bin baapuro naamaa ||1|| rahaau ||
So is poor Naam Dayv without the Lord's Name. ||1||Pause||
ਜੈਸੇ ਗਾਇ ਕਾ ਬਾਛਾ ਛੂਟਲਾ ॥
jaise gai kaa baachhaa chhooTalaa ||
Like the cow's calf, which, when let loose,
ਥਨ ਚੋਖਤਾ ਮਾਖਨੁ ਘੂਟਲਾ ॥੨॥
than chokhataa maakhan ghooTalaa ||2||
sucks at her udders and drinks her milk -||2||
ਨਾਮਦੇਉ ਨਾਰਾਇਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
naamadheau naarain paiaa ||
So has Naam Dayv found the Lord.
ਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟਤ ਅਲਖੁ ਲਖਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
gur bheTat alakh lakhaiaa ||3||
Meeting the Guru, I have seen the Unseen Lord. ||3||
ਜੈਸੇ ਬਿਖੈ ਹੇਤ ਪਰ ਨਾਰੀ ॥
jaise bikhai het par naaree ||
As the man driven by sex wants another man's wife,
ਐਸੇ ਨਾਮੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥੪॥
aaise naame preet muraaree ||4||
so does Naam Dayv love the Lord. ||4||
ਜੈਸੇ ਤਾਪਤੇ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਘਾਮਾ ॥
jaise taapate niramal ghaamaa ||
As the earth burns in the dazzling sunlight,
ਤੈਸੇ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਬਾਪੁਰੋ ਨਾਮਾ ॥੫॥੪॥
taise raam naamaa bin baapuro naamaa ||5||4||
so does poor Naam Dayv burn without the Lord's Name. ||5||4||

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਤ ਮਿਟੇ ਸਭਿ ਭਰਮਾ ॥

Chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, all doubts are dispelled.
ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈ ਊਤਮ ਧਰਮਾ ॥
har ko naam lai uootam dharamaa ||
Chanting the Name of the Lord is the highest religion.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਤ ਜਾਤਿ ਕੁਲ ਹਰੀ ॥
har har karat jaat kul haree ||
Chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, erases social classes and ancestral pedigrees.
ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਧੁਲੇ ਕੀ ਲਾਕਰੀ ॥੧॥
so har a(n)dhule kee laakaree ||1||
The Lord is the walking stick of the blind. ||1||
ਹਰਏ ਨਮਸਤੇ ਹਰਏ ਨਮਹ ॥
hare namasate hare nameh ||
I bow to the Lord, I humbly bow to the Lord.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਤ ਨਹੀ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਮਹ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har har karat nahee dhukh jameh ||1|| rahaau ||
Chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, you will not be tormented by the Messenger of Death. ||1||Pause||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਨਾਖਸ ਹਰੇ ਪਰਾਨ ॥
har haranaakhas hare paraan ||
The Lord took the life of Harnaakhash,
ਅਜੈਮਲ ਕੀਓ ਬੈਕੁੰਠਹਿ ਥਾਨ ॥
ajaimal keeo baiku(n)Theh thaan ||
and gave Ajaamal a place in heaven.
ਸੂਆ ਪੜਾਵਤ ਗਨਿਕਾ ਤਰੀ ॥
sooaa paRaavat ganikaa taree ||
Teaching a parrot to speak the Lord's Name, Ganika the prostitute was saved.
ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਨੈਨਹੁ ਕੀ ਪੂਤਰੀ ॥੨॥
so har nainahu kee pootaree ||2||
That Lord is the light of my eyes. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਤ ਪੂਤਨਾ ਤਰੀ ॥
har har karat pootanaa taree ||
Chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, Pootna was saved,
ਬਾਲ ਘਾਤਨੀ ਕਪਟਹਿ ਭਰੀ ॥
baal ghaatanee kapaTeh bharee ||
even though she was a deceitful child-killer.
ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦ੍ਰੋਪਦ ਸੁਤ ਉਧਰੀ ॥
simaran dhropadh sut udharee ||
Contemplating the Lord, Dropadi was saved.
ਗਊਤਮ ਸਤੀ ਸਿਲਾ ਨਿਸਤਰੀ ॥੩॥
guootam satee silaa nisataree ||3||
Gautam's wife, turned to stone, was saved. ||3||
ਕੇਸੀ ਕੰਸ ਮਥਨੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਆ ॥
kesee ka(n)s mathan jin keeaa ||
The Lord, who killed Kaysee and Kans,
ਜੀਅ ਦਾਨੁ ਕਾਲੀ ਕਉ ਦੀਆ ॥
jeea dhaan kaalee kau dheeaa ||
gave the gift of life to Kali.
ਪ੍ਰਣਵੈ ਨਾਮਾ ਐਸੋ ਹਰੀ ॥
pranavai naamaa aaiso haree ||
Prays Naam Dayv, such is my Lord;
ਜਾਸੁ ਜਪਤ ਭੈ ਅਪਦਾ ਟਰੀ ॥੪॥੧॥੫॥
jaas japat bhai apadhaa Taree ||4||1||5||
meditating on Him, fear and suffering are dispelled. ||4||1||5||

ਭੈਰਉ ਭੂਤ ਸੀਤਲਾ ਧਾਵੈ ॥
bhairau bhoot seetalaa dhaavai ||
One who chases after the god Bhairau, evil spirits and the goddess of smallpox,
ਖਰ ਬਾਹਨੁ ਉਹੁ ਛਾਰੁ ਉਡਾਵੈ ॥੧॥
khar baahan uh chhaar uddaavai ||1||
is riding on a donkey, kicking up the dust. ||1||
ਹਉ ਤਉ ਏਕੁ ਰਮਈਆ ਲੈਹਉ ॥
hau tau ek ramieeaa laihau ||
I take only the Name of the One Lord.
ਆਨ ਦੇਵ ਬਦਲਾਵਨਿ ਦੈਹਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aan dhev badhalaavan dhaihau ||1|| rahaau ||
I have given away all other gods in exchange for Him. ||1||Pause||
ਸਿਵ ਸਿਵ ਕਰਤੇ ਜੋ ਨਰੁ ਧਿਆਵੈ ॥
siv siv karate jo nar dhiaavai ||
That man who chants ""Shiva, Shiva"", and meditates on him,
ਬਰਦ ਚਢੇ ਡਉਰੂ ਢਮਕਾਵੈ ॥੨॥
baradh chadde ddauroo ddamakaavai ||2||
is riding on a bull, shaking a tambourine. ||2||
ਮਹਾ ਮਾਈ ਕੀ ਪੂਜਾ ਕਰੈ ॥
mahaa maiee kee poojaa karai ||
One who worships the Great Goddess Maya
ਨਰ ਸੈ ਨਾਰਿ ਹੋਇ ਅਉਤਰੈ ॥੩॥
nar sai naar hoi aautarai ||3||
will be reincarnated as a woman, and not a man. ||3||
ਤੂ ਕਹੀਅਤ ਹੀ ਆਦਿ ਭਵਾਨੀ ॥
too kaheeat hee aadh bhavaanee ||
You are called the Primal Goddess.
ਮੁਕਤਿ ਕੀ ਬਰੀਆ ਕਹਾ ਛਪਾਨੀ ॥੪॥
mukat kee bareeaa kahaa chhapaanee ||4||
At the time of liberation, where will you hide then? ||4||
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਗਹੁ ਮੀਤਾ ॥
gurmat raam naam gahu meetaa ||
Follow the Guru's Teachings, and hold tight to the Lord's Name, O friend.
ਪ੍ਰਣਵੈ ਨਾਮਾ ਇਉ ਕਹੈ ਗੀਤਾ ॥੫॥੨॥੬॥
pranavai naamaa iau kahai geetaa ||5||2||6||
Thus prays Naam Dayv, and so says the Gita as well. ||5||2||6||
ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ਗੋਂਡ ॥

ਆਜੁ ਨਾਮੇ ਬੀਠਲੁ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਮੂਰਖ ਕੋ ਸਮਝਾਊ ਰੇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aaj naame beeThal dhekhiaa moorakh ko samajhaauoo re || rahaau ||
Today, Naam Dayv saw the Lord, and so I will instruct the ignorant. ||Pause||
ਪਾਂਡੇ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਗਾਇਤ੍ਰੀ ਲੋਧੇ ਕਾ ਖੇਤੁ ਖਾਤੀ ਥੀ ॥
paa(n)dde tumaree gaitree lodhe kaa khet khaatee thee ||
O Pandit, O religious scholar, your Gayatri was grazing in the fields.
ਲੈ ਕਰਿ ਠੇਗਾ ਟਗਰੀ ਤੋਰੀ ਲਾਂਗਤ ਲਾਂਗਤ ਜਾਤੀ ਥੀ ॥੧॥
lai kar Thegaa Tagaree toree laa(n)gat laa(n)gat jaatee thee ||1||
Taking a stick, the farmer broke its leg, and now it walks with a limp. ||1||
ਪਾਂਡੇ ਤੁਮਰਾ ਮਹਾਦੇਉ ਧਉਲੇ ਬਲਦ ਚੜਿਆ ਆਵਤੁ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਥਾ ॥
paa(n)dde tumaraa mahaadheau dhaule baladh chaRiaa aavat dhekhiaa thaa ||
O Pandit, I saw your great god Shiva, riding along on a white bull.
ਮੋਦੀ ਕੇ ਘਰ ਖਾਣਾ ਪਾਕਾ ਵਾ ਕਾ ਲੜਕਾ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਥਾ ॥੨॥
modhee ke ghar khaanaa paakaa vaa kaa laRakaa maariaa thaa ||2||
In the merchant's house, a banquet was prepared for him - he killed the merchant's son. ||2||
