ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਮਹੇਸ ਇਕ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਾਰੀ ॥੧੨॥
brahamaa bisan mahes ik moorat aape karataa kaaree ||12||
Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva are manifestations of the One God. He Himself is the Doer of deeds. ||12||
ਕਾਇਆ ਸੋਧਿ ਤਰੈ ਭਵ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਆਤਮ ਤਤੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥੧੩॥
kaiaa sodh tarai bhav saagar aatam tat veechaaree ||13||
One who purifies his body, crosses over the terrifying world-ocean; he contemplates the essence of his own soul. ||13||
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਰਵਿਆ ਗੁਣਕਾਰੀ ॥੧੪॥
gur sevaa te sadhaa sukh paiaa a(n)tar sabadh raviaa gunakaaree ||14||
Serving the Guru, he finds everlasting peace; deep within, the Shabad permeates him, coloring him with virtue. ||14||
ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਲਏ ਗੁਣਦਾਤਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਮਾਰੀ ॥੧੫॥
aape mel le gunadhaataa haumai tirasanaa maaree ||15||
The Giver of virtue unites with Himself, one who conquers egotism and desire. ||15||
ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਮੇਟੇ ਚਉਥੈ ਵਰਤੈ ਏਹਾ ਭਗਤਿ ਨਿਰਾਰੀ ॥੧੬॥
trai gun meTe chauthai varatai ehaa bhagat niraaree ||16||
Eradicating the three qualities, dwell in the fourth state. This is the unparalleled devotional worship. ||16||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜੋਗ ਸਬਦਿ ਆਤਮੁ ਚੀਨੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਏਕੁ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥੧੭॥
gurmukh jog sabadh aatam cheenai hiradhai ek muraaree ||17||
This is the Yoga of the Gurmukh: Through the Shabad, he understands his own soul, and he enshrines within his heart the One Lord. ||17||
ਮਨੂਆ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਸਬਦੇ ਰਾਤਾ ਏਹਾ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਰੀ ॥੧੮॥
manooaa asathir sabadhe raataa ehaa karanee saaree ||18||
Imbued with the Shabad, his mind becomes steady and stable; this is the most excellent action. ||18||
ਬੇਦੁ ਬਾਦੁ ਨ ਪਾਖੰਡੁ ਅਉਧੂ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ॥੧੯॥
bedh baadh na paakha(n)dd aaudhoo gurmukh sabadh beechaaree ||19||
This true hermit does not enter into religious debates or hypocrisy; the Gurmukh contemplates the Shabad. ||19||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜੋਗੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਅਉਧੂ ਜਤੁ ਸਤੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥੨੦॥
gurmukh jog kamaavai aaudhoo jat sat sabadh veechaaree ||20||
The Gurmukh practices Yoga - he is the true hermit; he practices abstinence and truth, and contemplates the Shabad. ||20||
ਸਬਦਿ ਮਰੈ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰੇ ਅਉਧੂ ਜੋਗ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥੨੧॥
sabadh marai man maare aaudhoo jog jugat veechaaree ||21||
One who dies in the Shabad and conquers his mind is the true hermit; he understands the Way of Yoga. ||21||
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਹੈ ਅਵਧੂ ਸਬਦਿ ਤਰੈ ਕੁਲ ਤਾਰੀ ॥੨੨॥
maiaa moh bhavajal hai avadhoo sabadh tarai kul taaree ||22||
Attachment to Maya is the terrifying world-ocean; through the Shabad, the true hermit saves himself, and his ancestors as well. ||22||
ਸਬਦਿ ਸੂਰ ਜੁਗ ਚਾਰੇ ਅਉਧੂ ਬਾਣੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥੨੩॥
sabadh soor jug chaare aaudhoo baanee bhagat veechaaree ||23||
Contemplating the Shabad, you shall be a hero throughout the four ages, O hermit; contemplate the Word of the Guru's Bani in devotion. ||23||
ਏਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਅਉਧੂ ਨਿਕਸੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥੨੪॥
eh man maiaa mohiaa aaudhoo nikasai sabadh veechaaree ||24||
This mind is enticed by Maya, O hermit; contemplating the Shabad, you shall find release. ||24||
ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥੨੫॥੯॥
aape bakhase mel milaae naanak saran tumaaree ||25||9||
He Himself forgives, and unites in His Union; Nanak seeks Your Sanctuary, Lord. ||25||9||
ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ਅਸਟਪਦੀਆ
raamakalee mahalaa teejaa asaTapadheeaa
Raamkalee, Third Mehla, Ashtpadheeyaa:
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

ਸਰਮੈ ਦੀਆ ਮੁੰਦ੍ਰਾ ਕੰਨੀ ਪਾਇ ਜੋਗੀ ਖਿੰਥਾ ਕਰਿ ਤੂ ਦਇਆ ॥
saramai dheeaa mu(n)dhraa ka(n)nee pai jogee khi(n)thaa kar too dhiaa ||
Make humility your ear-rings, Yogi, and compassion your patched coat.
ਆਵਣੁ ਜਾਣੁ ਬਿਭੂਤਿ ਲਾਇ ਜੋਗੀ ਤਾ ਤੀਨਿ ਭਵਣ ਜਿਣਿ ਲਇਆ ॥੧॥
aavan jaan bibhoot lai jogee taa teen bhavan jin liaa ||1||
Let coming and going be the ashes you apply to your body, Yogi, and then you shall conquer the three worlds. ||1||
ਐਸੀ ਕਿੰਗੁਰੀ ਵਜਾਇ ਜੋਗੀ ॥
aaisee ki(n)guree vajai jogee ||
Play that harp, Yogi,
ਜਿਤੁ ਕਿੰਗੁਰੀ ਅਨਹਦੁ ਵਾਜੈ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਰਹੈ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jit ki(n)guree anahadh vaajai har siau rahai liv lai ||1|| rahaau ||
which vibrates the unstruck sound current, and remain lovingly absorbed in the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਸਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਪਤੁ ਕਰਿ ਝੋਲੀ ਜੋਗੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਭੁਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
sat sa(n)tokh pat kar jholee jogee a(n)mirat naam bhugat paiee ||
Make truth and contentment your plate and pouch, Yogi; take the Ambrosial Naam as your food.
ਧਿਆਨ ਕਾ ਕਰਿ ਡੰਡਾ ਜੋਗੀ ਸਿੰਙੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਵਜਾਈ ॥੨॥
dhiaan kaa kar dda(n)ddaa jogee si(n)n(g)ee surat vajaiee ||2||
Make meditation your walking stick, Yogi, and make higher consciousness the horn you blow. ||2||
ਮਨੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੁ ਕਰਿ ਆਸਣਿ ਬੈਸੁ ਜੋਗੀ ਤਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਕਲਪਣਾ ਜਾਈ ॥
man dhiraR kar aasan bais jogee taa teree kalapanaa jaiee ||
Make your stable mind the Yogic posture you sit in, Yogi, and then you shall be rid of your tormenting desires.
ਕਾਇਆ ਨਗਰੀ ਮਹਿ ਮੰਗਣਿ ਚੜਹਿ ਜੋਗੀ ਤਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਲੈ ਪਾਈ ॥੩॥
kaiaa nagaree meh ma(n)gan chaReh jogee taa naam palai paiee ||3||
Go begging in the village of the body, Yogi, and then, you shall obtain the Naam in your lap. ||3||
ਇਤੁ ਕਿੰਗੁਰੀ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਜੋਗੀ ਨਾ ਸਚੁ ਪਲੈ ਪਾਇ ॥
eit ki(n)guree dhiaan na laagai jogee naa sach palai pai ||
This harp does not center you in meditation, Yogi, nor does it bring the True Name into your lap.
ਇਤੁ ਕਿੰਗੁਰੀ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਜੋਗੀ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ਨ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਜਾਇ ॥੪॥
eit ki(n)guree saa(n)t na aavai jogee abhimaan na vichahu jai ||4||
This harp does not bring you peace, Yogi, nor eliminate egotism from within you. ||4||
ਭਉ ਭਾਉ ਦੁਇ ਪਤ ਲਾਇ ਜੋਗੀ ਇਹੁ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਕਰਿ ਡੰਡੀ ॥
bhau bhaau dhui pat lai jogee ih sareer kar dda(n)ddee ||
Make the Fear of God, and the Love of God, the two gourds of your lute, Yogi, and make this body its neck.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਤਾ ਤੰਤੀ ਵਾਜੈ ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਖੰਡੀ ॥੫॥
gurmukh hoveh taa ta(n)tee vaajai in bidh tirasanaa kha(n)ddee ||5||
Become Gurmukh, and then vibrate the strings; in this way, your desires shall depart. ||5||
ਹੁਕਮੁ ਬੁਝੈ ਸੋ ਜੋਗੀ ਕਹੀਐ ਏਕਸ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ ॥
hukam bujhai so jogee kaheeaai ekas siau chit laae ||
One who understands the Hukam of the Lord's Command is called a Yogi; he links his consciousness to the One Lord.
ਸਹਸਾ ਤੂਟੈ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਜੋਗ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਇਵ ਪਾਏ ॥੬॥
sahasaa tooTai niramal hovai jog jugat iv paae ||6||
His cynicism is dispelled, and he becomes immaculately pure; this is how he finds the Way of Yoga. ||6||
ਨਦਰੀ ਆਵਦਾ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇ ॥
nadharee aavadhaa sabh kichh binasai har setee chit lai ||
Everything that comes into view shall be destroyed; focus your consciousness on the Lord.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨਾਲਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਭਾਵਨੀ ਲਾਗੈ ਤਾ ਇਹ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਇ ॥੭॥
satigur naal teree bhaavanee laagai taa ieh sojhee pai ||7||
Enshrine love for the True Guru, and then you shall obtain this understanding. ||7||
