ਕਿਨਹੀ ਕਹਿਆ ਬਾਹ ਬਹੁ ਭਾਈ ॥
kinahee kahiaa baeh bahu bhaiee ||
Some say that they have the arms of their many brothers to protect them.
ਕੋਈ ਕਹੈ ਮੈ ਧਨਹਿ ਪਸਾਰਾ ॥
koiee kahai mai dhaneh pasaaraa ||
Some say that they have great expanses of wealth.
ਮੋਹਿ ਦੀਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਧਾਰਾ ॥੪॥
moh dheen har har aadhaaraa ||4||
I am meek; I have the support of the Lord, Har, Har. ||4||
ਕਿਨਹੀ ਘੂਘਰ ਨਿਰਤਿ ਕਰਾਈ ॥
kinahee ghooghar nirat karaiee ||
Some dance, wearing ankle bells.
ਕਿਨਹੂ ਵਰਤ ਨੇਮ ਮਾਲਾ ਪਾਈ ॥
kinahoo varat nem maalaa paiee ||
Some fast and take vows, and wear malas.
ਕਿਨਹੀ ਤਿਲਕੁ ਗੋਪੀ ਚੰਦਨ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
kinahee tilak gopee cha(n)dhan laiaa ||
Some apply ceremonial tilak marks to their foreheads.
ਮੋਹਿ ਦੀਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੫॥
moh dheen har har har dhiaaiaa ||5||
I am meek; I meditate on the Lord, Har, Har, Har. ||5||
ਕਿਨਹੀ ਸਿਧ ਬਹੁ ਚੇਟਕ ਲਾਏ ॥
kinahee sidh bahu cheTak laae ||
Some work spells using the miraculous spiritual powers of the Siddhas.
ਕਿਨਹੀ ਭੇਖ ਬਹੁ ਥਾਟ ਬਨਾਏ ॥
kinahee bhekh bahu thaaT banaae ||
Some wear various religious robes and establish their authority.
ਕਿਨਹੀ ਤੰਤ ਮੰਤ ਬਹੁ ਖੇਵਾ ॥
kinahee ta(n)t ma(n)t bahu khevaa ||
Some perform Tantric spells, and chant various mantras.
ਮੋਹਿ ਦੀਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਾ ॥੬॥
moh dheen har har har sevaa ||6||
I am meek; I serve the Lord, Har, Har, Har. ||6||
ਕੋਈ ਚਤੁਰੁ ਕਹਾਵੈ ਪੰਡਿਤ ॥
koiee chatur kahaavai pa(n)ddit ||
One calls himself a wise Pandit, a religious scholar.
ਕੋ ਖਟੁ ਕਰਮ ਸਹਿਤ ਸਿਉ ਮੰਡਿਤ ॥
ko khaT karam sahit siau ma(n)ddit ||
One performs the six rituals to appease Shiva.
ਕੋਈ ਕਰੈ ਆਚਾਰ ਸੁਕਰਣੀ ॥
koiee karai aachaar sukaranee ||
One maintains the rituals of pure lifestyle, and does good deeds.
ਮੋਹਿ ਦੀਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣੀ ॥੭॥
moh dheen har har har saranee ||7||
I am meek; I seek the Sanctuary of the Lord, Har, Har, Har. ||7||
ਸਗਲੇ ਕਰਮ ਧਰਮ ਜੁਗ ਸੋਧੇ ॥
sagale karam dharam jug sodhe ||
I have studied the religions and rituals of all the ages.
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਨ ਪ੍ਰਬੋਧੇ ॥
bin naavai ih man na prabodhe ||
Without the Name, this mind is not awakened.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਉ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
kahu naanak jau saadhasa(n)g paiaa ||
Says Nanak, when I found the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy,
ਬੂਝੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਮਹਾ ਸੀਤਲਾਇਆ ॥੮॥੧॥
boojhee tirasanaa mahaa seetalaiaa ||8||1||
my thirsty desires were satisfied, and I was totally cooled and soothed. ||8||1||

raamakalee mahalaa panjavaa ||
Raamkalee, Fifth Mehla:
ਇਸੁ ਪਾਨੀ ਤੇ ਜਿਨਿ ਤੂ ਘਰਿਆ ॥
eis paanee te jin too ghariaa ||
He created you out of this water.
ਮਾਟੀ ਕਾ ਲੇ ਦੇਹੁਰਾ ਕਰਿਆ ॥
maaTee kaa le dhehuraa kariaa ||
From clay, He fashioned your body.
ਉਕਤਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਲੈ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਪਰੀਖਿਆ ॥
aukat jot lai surat pareekhiaa ||
He blessed you with the light of reason and clear consciousness.
ਮਾਤ ਗਰਭ ਮਹਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਤੂ ਰਾਖਿਆ ॥੧॥
maat garabh meh jin too raakhiaa ||1||
In your mother's womb, He preserved you. ||1||
ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੁ ਸਮ੍ਹਾਰਿ ਜਨਾ ॥
raakhanahaar samhaar janaa ||
Contemplate your Savior Lord.
ਸਗਲੇ ਛੋਡਿ ਬੀਚਾਰ ਮਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sagale chhodd beechaar manaa ||1|| rahaau ||
Give up all others thoughts, O mind. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਨਿ ਦੀਏ ਤੁਧੁ ਬਾਪ ਮਹਤਾਰੀ ॥
jin dhe'ee tudh baap mahataaree ||
He gave you your mother and father;
ਜਿਨਿ ਦੀਏ ਭ੍ਰਾਤ ਪੁਤ ਹਾਰੀ ॥
jin dhe'ee bhraat put haaree ||
he gave you your charming children and siblings;
ਜਿਨਿ ਦੀਏ ਤੁਧੁ ਬਨਿਤਾ ਅਰੁ ਮੀਤਾ ॥
jin dhe'ee tudh banitaa ar meetaa ||
he gave you your spouse and friends;
ਤਿਸੁ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕਉ ਰਖਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਚੀਤਾ ॥੨॥
tis Thaakur kau rakh leh cheetaa ||2||
enshrine that Lord and Master in your consciousness. ||2||
ਜਿਨਿ ਦੀਆ ਤੁਧੁ ਪਵਨੁ ਅਮੋਲਾ ॥
jin dheeaa tudh pavan amolaa ||
He gave you the invaluable air;
ਜਿਨਿ ਦੀਆ ਤੁਧੁ ਨੀਰੁ ਨਿਰਮੋਲਾ ॥
jin dheeaa tudh neer niramolaa ||
He gave you the priceless water;
ਜਿਨਿ ਦੀਆ ਤੁਧੁ ਪਾਵਕੁ ਬਲਨਾ ॥
jin dheeaa tudh paavak balanaa ||
He gave you burning fire;
ਤਿਸੁ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕੀ ਰਹੁ ਮਨ ਸਰਨਾ ॥੩॥
tis Thaakur kee rahu man saranaa ||3||
let your mind remain in the Sanctuary of that Lord and Master. ||3||
ਛਤੀਹ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਜਿਨਿ ਭੋਜਨ ਦੀਏ ॥
chhateeh a(n)mirat jin bhojan dhe'ee ||
He gave you the thirty-six varieties of tasty foods;
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਥਾਨ ਠਹਰਾਵਨ ਕਉ ਕੀਏ ॥
a(n)tar thaan Thaharaavan kau ke'ee ||
He gave you a place within to hold them;
ਬਸੁਧਾ ਦੀਓ ਬਰਤਨਿ ਬਲਨਾ ॥
basudhaa dheeo baratan balanaa ||
He gave you the earth, and things to use;
ਤਿਸੁ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਿਤਿ ਰਖੁ ਚਰਨਾ ॥੪॥
tis Thaakur ke chit rakh charanaa ||4||
enshrine in your consciousness the feet of that Lord and Master. ||4||
ਪੇਖਨ ਕਉ ਨੇਤ੍ਰ ਸੁਨਨ ਕਉ ਕਰਨਾ ॥
pekhan kau netr sunan kau karanaa ||
He gave you eyes to see, and ears to hear;
ਹਸਤ ਕਮਾਵਨ ਬਾਸਨ ਰਸਨਾ ॥
hasat kamaavan baasan rasanaa ||
He gave you hands to work with, and a nose and a tongue;
ਚਰਨ ਚਲਨ ਕਉ ਸਿਰੁ ਕੀਨੋ ਮੇਰਾ ॥
charan chalan kau sir keeno meraa ||
He gave you feet to walk upon, and the crowning glory of your head;
ਮਨ ਤਿਸੁ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕੇ ਪੂਜਹੁ ਪੈਰਾ ॥੫॥
man tis Thaakur ke poojahu pairaa ||5||
O mind, worship the Feet of that Lord and Master. ||5||
ਅਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਤੂ ਕਰਿਆ ॥
apavitr pavitr jin too kariaa ||
He transformed you from impure to pure;
ਸਗਲ ਜੋਨਿ ਮਹਿ ਤੂ ਸਿਰਿ ਧਰਿਆ ॥
sagal jon meh too sir dhariaa ||
He installed you above the heads of all creatures;
ਅਬ ਤੂ ਸੀਝੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਨਹੀ ਸੀਝੈ ॥
ab too seejh bhaavai nahee seejhai ||
now, you may fulfill your destiny or not;
ਕਾਰਜੁ ਸਵਰੈ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਧਿਆਈਜੈ ॥੬॥
kaaraj savarai man prabh dhiaaieejai ||6||
Your affairs shall be resolved, O mind, meditating on God. ||6||
ਈਹਾ ਊਹਾ ਏਕੈ ਓਹੀ ॥
e'eehaa uoohaa ekai ohee ||
Here and there, only the One God exists.
ਜਤ ਕਤ ਦੇਖੀਐ ਤਤ ਤਤ ਤੋਹੀ ॥
jat kat dhekheeaai tat tat tohee ||
Wherever I look, there You are.
ਤਿਸੁ ਸੇਵਤ ਮਨਿ ਆਲਸੁ ਕਰੈ ॥
tis sevat man aalas karai ||
My mind is reluctant to serve Him;
ਜਿਸੁ ਵਿਸਰਿਐ ਇਕ ਨਿਮਖ ਨ ਸਰੈ ॥੭॥
jis visariaai ik nimakh na sarai ||7||
forgetting Him, I cannot survive, even for an instant. ||7||
ਹਮ ਅਪਰਾਧੀ ਨਿਰਗੁਨੀਆਰੇ ॥
ham aparaadhee niraguneeaare ||
I am a sinner, without any virtue at all.
ਨਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਸੇਵਾ ਨਾ ਕਰਮਾਰੇ ॥
naa kichh sevaa naa karamaare ||
I do not serve You, or do any good deeds.
ਗੁਰੁ ਬੋਹਿਥੁ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਮਿਲਿਆ ॥
gur bohith vaddabhaagee miliaa ||
By great good fortune, I have found the boat - the Guru.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਸੰਗਿ ਪਾਥਰ ਤਰਿਆ ॥੮॥੨॥
naanak dhaas sa(n)g paathar tariaa ||8||2||
Slave Nanak has crossed over, with Him. ||8||2||

Some pass their lives enjoying pleasures and beauty.
