ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹੁ ਹੈ ਨਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਤਿਲੁ ਨ ਤਮਾਇ ॥
meraa prabh veparavaahu hai naa tis til na tamai ||
My God is independent and self-sufficient; he does not have even an iota of greed.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਭਜਿ ਪਉ ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੪॥੫॥
naanak tis saranaiee bhaj pau aape bakhas milai ||4||5||
O Nanak, run to His Sanctuary; granting His forgiveness, He merges us into Himself. ||4||5||

ਜਪਿਓ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਕ ਜਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰੇ ॥
japio naam suk janak gur bachanee har har saran pare ||
Suk-deva and Janak meditated on the Naam; following the Guru's Teachings, they sought the Sanctuary of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਦਾਲਦੁ ਭੰਜਿ ਸੁਦਾਮੇ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਭਗਤੀ ਭਾਇ ਤਰੇ ॥
dhaaladh bha(n)j sudhaame milio bhagatee bhai tare ||
God met Sudama and removed his poverty; through loving devotional worship, he crossed over.
ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਤਾਰਥੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ॥੧॥
bhagat vachhal har naam kirataarath gurmukh kirapaa kare ||1||
God is the Lover of His devotees; the Lord's Name is fufilling; God showers His Mercy on the Gurmukhs. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਉਧਰੇ ॥
mere man naam japat udhare ||
O my mind, chanting the Naam, the Name of the Lord, you will be saved.
ਧ੍ਰੂ ਪ੍ਰਹਿਲਾਦੁ ਬਿਦਰੁ ਦਾਸੀ ਸੁਤੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਤਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
dhraoo prahilaadh bidhar dhaasee sut gurmukh naam tare ||1|| rahaau ||
Dhroo, Prahlaad and Bidar the slave-girl's son, became Gurmukh, and through the Naam, crossed over. ||1||Pause||
ਕਲਜੁਗਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਉਧਰੇ ॥
kalajug naam pradhaan padhaarath bhagat janaa udhare ||
In this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, the Naam is the supreme wealth; it saves the humble devotees.
ਨਾਮਾ ਜੈਦੇਉ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਲੋਚਨੁ ਸਭਿ ਦੋਖ ਗਏ ਚਮਰੇ ॥
naamaa jaidheau kabeer tiralochan sabh dhokh ge chamare ||
All the faults of Naam Dayv, Jai Dayv, Kabeer, Trilochan and Ravi Daas the leather-worker were covered.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਗੇ ਸੇ ਉਧਰੇ ਸਭਿ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਪਾਪ ਟਰੇ ॥੨॥
gurmukh naam lage se udhare sabh kilabikh paap Tare ||2||
Those who become Gurmukh, and remain attached to the Naam, are saved; all their sins are washed off. ||2||
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੈ ਅਪਰਾਧੀ ਸਭਿ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਦੋਖ ਪਰਹਰੇ ॥
jo jo naam japai aparaadhee sabh tin ke dhokh parahare ||
Whoever chants the Naam, all his sins and mistakes are taken away.
ਬੇਸੁਆ ਰਵਤ ਅਜਾਮਲੁ ਉਧਰਿਓ ਮੁਖਿ ਬੋਲੈ ਨਾਰਾਇਣੁ ਨਰਹਰੇ ॥
besuaa ravat ajaamal udhario mukh bolai naarain narahare ||
Ajaamal, who had sex with prostitites, was saved, by chanting the Name of the Lord.
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਉਗ੍ਰਸੈਣਿ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਤੋੜਿ ਬੰਧਨ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਕਰੇ ॥੩॥
naam japat ugrasain gat paiee toR ba(n)dhan mukat kare ||3||
Chanting the Naam, Ugar Sain obtained salvation; his bonds were broken, and he was liberated. ||3||
ਜਨ ਕਉ ਆਪਿ ਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੁ ਕੀਆ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਗੀਕਾਰੁ ਕਰੇ ॥
jan kau aap anugrahu keeaa har a(n)geekaar kare ||
God Himself takes pity on His humble servants, and makes them His own.
ਸੇਵਕ ਪੈਜ ਰਖੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਗੋਵਿਦੁ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰੇ ਉਧਰੇ ॥
sevak paij rakhai meraa govidh saran pare udhare ||
My Lord of the Universe saves the honor of His servants; those who seek His Sanctuary are saved.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ਉਰ ਧਰਿਓ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰੇ ॥੪॥੧॥
jan naanak har kirapaa dhaaree ur dhario naam hare ||4||1||
The Lord has showered servant Nanak with His Mercy; he has enshrined the Lord's Name within his heart. ||4||1||
ਮਾਰੂ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥

Maaroo, Fourth Mehla:
ਸਿਧ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਜਪਿਓ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਮੁਨਿ ਜਪਿਆ ॥
sidh samaadh japio liv laiee saadhik mun japiaa ||
The Siddhas in Samaadhi meditate on Him; they are lovingly focused on Him. The seekers and the silent sages meditate on Him as well.
ਜਤੀ ਸਤੀ ਸੰਤੋਖੀ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਮੁਖਿ ਇੰਦ੍ਰਾਦਿਕ ਰਵਿਆ ॥
jatee satee sa(n)tokhee dhiaaiaa mukh i(n)dhraadhik raviaa ||
The celibates, the true and contented beings meditate on Him; Indra and the other gods chant His Name with their mouths.
ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰੇ ਜਪਿਓ ਤੇ ਭਾਏ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਇਆ ॥੧॥
saran pare japio te bhaae gurmukh paar piaa ||1||
Those who seek His Sanctuary meditate on Him; they become Gurmukh and swim across. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਤਰਿਆ ॥
mere man naam japat tariaa ||
O my mind, chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and cross over.
ਧੰਨਾ ਜਟੁ ਬਾਲਮੀਕੁ ਬਟਵਾਰਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
dha(n)naa jaT baalameek baTavaaraa gurmukh paar piaa ||1|| rahaau ||
Dhanna the farmer, and Balmik the highway robber, became Gurmukh, and crossed over. ||1||Pause||
ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਗਣ ਗੰਧਰਬੇ ਜਪਿਓ ਰਿਖਿ ਬਪੁਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਇਆ ॥
sur nar gan ga(n)dharabe japio rikh bapurai har gaiaa ||
Angels, men, heavenly heralds and celestial singers meditate on Him; even the humble Rishis sing of the Lord.
ਸੰਕਰਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੈ ਦੇਵੀ ਜਪਿਓ ਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿਆ ॥
sa(n)kar brahamai dhevee japio mukh har har naam japiaa ||
Shiva, Brahma and the goddess Lakhshmi, meditate, and chant with their mouths the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਜਿਨਾ ਮਨੁ ਭੀਨਾ ਤੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਇਆ ॥੨॥
har har naam jinaa man bheenaa te gurmukh paar piaa ||2||
Those whose minds are drenched with the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, as Gurmukh, cross over. ||2||
ਕੋਟਿ ਕੋਟਿ ਤੇਤੀਸ ਧਿਆਇਓ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਤਿਆ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
koT koT tetees dhiaaio har japatiaa a(n)t na paiaa ||
Millions and millions, three hundred thirty million gods meditate on Him; there is no end to those who meditate on the Lord.
ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਣ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿਆ ਮੁਖਿ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਇਆ ॥
bedh puraan simirat har japiaa mukh pa(n)ddit har gaiaa ||
The Vedas, the Puraanas and the Simritees meditate on the Lord; the Pandits, the religious scholars, sing the Lord's Praises as well.
ਨਾਮੁ ਰਸਾਲੁ ਜਿਨਾ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਤੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਇਆ ॥੩॥
naam rasaal jinaa man vasiaa te gurmukh paar piaa ||3||
Those whose minds are filled with the Naam, the source of nectar - as Gurmukh, they cross over. ||3||
ਅਨਤ ਤਰੰਗੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਿਨ ਜਪਿਆ ਮੈ ਗਣਤ ਨ ਕਰਿ ਸਕਿਆ ॥
anat tara(n)gee naam jin japiaa mai ganat na kar sakiaa ||
Those who chant the Naam in endless waves - I cannot even count their number.
ਗੋਬਿਦੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਥਾਇ ਪਾਏ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਇਆ ॥
gobidh kirapaa kare thai paae jo har prabh man bhaiaa ||
The Lord of the Universe bestows His Mercy, and those who are pleasing to the Mind of the Lord God, find their place.
ਗੁਰਿ ਧਾਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਓ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਲਇਆ ॥੪॥੨॥
gur dhaar kirapaa har naam dhiraRaio jan naanak naam liaa ||4||2||
The Guru, granting His Grace, implants the Lord's Name within; servant Nanak chants the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||4||2||
