ਏ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਚੇਤਿ ਤੂ ਮਨਹੁ ਤਜਿ ਵਿਕਾਰ ॥
e man har jeeau chet too manahu taj vikaar ||
O my mind, remember the Dear Lord, and abandon the corruption of your mind.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਧਿਆਇ ਤੂ ਸਚਿ ਲਗੀ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur kai sabadh dhiaai too sach lagee piaar ||1|| rahaau ||
Meditate on the Word of the Guru's Shabad; focus lovingly on the Truth. ||1||Pause||
ਐਥੈ ਨਾਵਹੁ ਭੁਲਿਆ ਫਿਰਿ ਹਥੁ ਕਿਥਾਊ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥
aaithai naavahu bhuliaa fir hath kithaauoo na pai ||
One who forgets the Name in this world, shall not find any place of rest anywhere else.
ਜੋਨੀ ਸਭਿ ਭਵਾਈਅਨਿ ਬਿਸਟਾ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੨॥
jonee sabh bhavaieean bisaTaa maeh samai ||2||
He shall wander in all sorts of reincarnations, and rot away in manure. ||2||
ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਮਾਇ ॥
vaddabhaagee gur paiaa poorab likhiaa mai ||
By great good fortune, I have found the Guru, according to my pre-ordained destiny, O my mother.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਚੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਸਚਾ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੩॥
anadhin sachee bhagat kar sachaa le milai ||3||
Night and day, I practice true devotional worship; I am united with the True Lord. ||3||
ਆਪੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਭ ਸਾਜੀਅਨੁ ਆਪੇ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥
aape sirasaT sabh saajeean aape nadhar karei ||
He Himself fashioned the entire universe; He Himself bestows His Glance of Grace.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਡਿਆਈਆ ਜੈ ਭਾਵੈ ਤੈ ਦੇਇ ॥੪॥੨॥
naanak naam vaddiaaieeaa jai bhaavai tai dhei ||4||2||
O Nanak, the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is glorious and great; as He pleases, He bestows His Blessings. ||4||2||
ਮਾਰੂ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥
maaroo mahalaa teejaa ||
Maaroo, Third Mehla:
ਪਿਛਲੇ ਗੁਨਹ ਬਖਸਾਇ ਜੀਉ ਅਬ ਤੂ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਪਾਇ ॥
pichhale guneh bakhasai jeeau ab too maarag pai ||
Please forgive my past mistakes, O my Dear Lord; now, please place me on the Path.
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗਿ ਰਹਾ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥੧॥
har kee charanee laag rahaa vichahu aap gavai ||1||
I remain attached to the Lord's Feet, and eradicate self-conceit from within. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇ ॥
mere man gurmukh naam har dhiaai ||
O my mind, as Gurmukh, meditate on the Name of the Lord.
ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗਿ ਰਹਾ ਇਕ ਮਨਿ ਏਕੈ ਭਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sadhaa har charanee laag rahaa ik man ekai bhai ||1|| rahaau ||
Remain attached forever to the Lord's Feet, single-mindedly, with love for the One Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਨਾ ਮੈ ਜਾਤਿ ਨ ਪਤਿ ਹੈ ਨਾ ਮੈ ਥੇਹੁ ਨ ਥਾਉ ॥
naa mai jaat na pat hai naa mai theh na thaau ||
I have no social status or honor; I have no place or home.
ਸਬਦਿ ਭੇਦਿ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਕਟਿਆ ਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਆ ਸਮਝਾਇ ॥੨॥
sabadh bhedh bhram kaTiaa gur naam dheeaa samajhai ||2||
Pierced through by the Word of the Shabad, my doubts have been cut away. The Guru has inspired me to understand the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||2||
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਲਚ ਕਰਦਾ ਫਿਰੈ ਲਾਲਚਿ ਲਾਗਾ ਜਾਇ ॥
eih man laalach karadhaa firai laalach laagaa jai ||
This mind wanders around, driven by greed, totally attached to greed.
ਧੰਧੈ ਕੂੜਿ ਵਿਆਪਿਆ ਜਮ ਪੁਰਿ ਚੋਟਾ ਖਾਇ ॥੩॥
dha(n)dhai kooR viaapiaa jam pur choTaa khai ||3||
He is engrossed in false pursuits; he shall endure beatings in the City of Death. ||3||
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਹੈ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥
naanak sabh kichh aape aap hai dhoojaa naahee koi ||
O Nanak, God Himself Himself is all-in-all. There is no other at all.
ਭਗਤਿ ਖਜਾਨਾ ਬਖਸਿਓਨੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥੩॥
bhagat khajaanaa bakhasion gurmukhaa sukh hoi ||4||3||
He bestows the treasure of devotional worship, and the Gurmukhs abide in peace. ||4||3||
ਮਾਰੂ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥
maaroo mahalaa teejaa ||
Maaroo, Third Mehla:
ਸਚਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੇ ਟੋਲਿ ਲਹੁ ਸੇ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ॥
sach rate se Tol lahu se virale sa(n)saar ||
Seek and find those who are imbued with Truth; they are so rare in this world.
ਤਿਨ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਮੁਖੁ ਉਜਲਾ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥੧॥
tin miliaa mukh ujalaa jap naam muraar ||1||
Meeting with them, one's face becomes radiant and bright, chanting the Name of the Lord. ||1||
ਬਾਬਾ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥
baabaa saachaa saahib ridhai samaal ||
O Baba, contemplate and cherish the True Lord and Master within your heart.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਪੁਛਿ ਦੇਖੁ ਲੇਹੁ ਵਖਰੁ ਭਾਲਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
satigur apanaa puchh dhekh leh vakhar bhaal ||1|| rahaau ||
Seek out and see, and ask your True Guru, and obtain the true commodity. ||1||Pause||
ਇਕੁ ਸਚਾ ਸਭ ਸੇਵਦੀ ਧੁਰਿ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
eik sachaa sabh sevadhee dhur bhaag milaavaa hoi ||
All serve the One True Lord; through pre-ordained destiny, they meet Him.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਸੇ ਨ ਵਿਛੁੜਹਿ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਇ ॥੨॥
gurmukh mile se na vichhuReh paaveh sach soi ||2||
The Gurmukhs merge with Him, and will not be separated from Him again; they attain the True Lord. ||2||
ਇਕਿ ਭਗਤੀ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣਨੀ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਇ ॥
eik bhagatee saar na jaananee manmukh bharam bhulai ||
Some do not appreciate the value of devotional worship; the self-willed manmukhs are deluded by doubt.
ਓਨਾ ਵਿਚਿ ਆਪਿ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਕਰਣਾ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥੩॥
onaa vich aap varatadhaa karanaa kichhoo na jai ||3||
They are fillled with self-conceit; they cannot accomplish anything. ||3||
ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਲਿ ਜੋਰੁ ਨ ਚਲਈ ਖਲੇ ਕੀਚੈ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥
jis naal jor na chaliee khale keechai aradhaas ||
Stand and offer your prayer, to the One who cannot be moved by force.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਤਾ ਸੁਣਿ ਕਰੇ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ॥੪॥੪॥
naanak gurmukh naam man vasai taa sun kare saabaas ||4||4||
O Nanak, the Naam, the Name of the Lord, abides within the mind of the Gurmukh; hearing his prayer, the Lord applauds him. ||4||4||
ਮਾਰੂ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥

Maaroo, Third Mehla:
ਮਾਰੂ ਤੇ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਕਰੇ ਮਨੂਰਹੁ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
maaroo te seetal kare manoorahu ka(n)chan hoi ||
He transforms the burning desert into a cool oasis; he transmutes rusted iron into gold.
ਸੋ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਲਾਹੀਐ ਤਿਸੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥
so saachaa saalaaheeaai tis jevadd avar na koi ||1||
So praise the True Lord; there is none other as great as He is. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਉ ॥
mere man anadhin dhiaai har naau ||
O my mind, night and day, meditate on the Lord's Name.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਬਚਨਿ ਅਰਾਧਿ ਤੂ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
satigur kai bachan araadh too anadhin gun gaau ||1|| rahaau ||
Contemplate the Word of the Guru's Teachings, and sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, night and day. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਜਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦੇਇ ਬੁਝਾਇ ॥
gurmukh eko jaaneeaai jaa satigur dhei bujhai ||
As Gurmukh, one comes to know the One Lord, when the True Guru instructs him.
ਸੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀਐ ਜਿਦੂ ਏਹ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਇ ॥੨॥
so satigur saalaaheeaai jidhoo eh sojhee pai ||2||
Praise the True Guru, who imparts this understanding. ||2||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਲਗੇ ਕਿਆ ਕਰਨਿ ਅਗੈ ਜਾਇ ॥
satigur chhodd dhoojai lage kiaa karan agai jai ||
Those who forsake the True Guru, and attach themselves to duality - what will they do when they go to the world hereafter?
ਜਮ ਪੁਰਿ ਬਧੇ ਮਾਰੀਅਹਿ ਬਹੁਤੀ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਜਾਇ ॥੩॥
jam pur badhe maare'eh bahutee milai sajai ||3||
Bound and gagged in the City of Death, they will be beaten. They will be punished severely. ||3||
