ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਉ ॥
sukh saagar a(n)mrit har naau ||
The Ambrosial Name of the Lord is the ocean of peace.
ਮੰਗਤ ਜਨੁ ਜਾਚੈ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਹੁ ਪਸਾਉ ॥
ma(n)gat jan jaachai har dheh pasaau ||
The beggar begs for it; O Lord, please bless him, in Your kindness.
ਹਰਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਸਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਤਿ ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
har sat sat sadhaa har sat har sat merai man bhaavai jeeau ||2||
True, True is the Lord; the Lord is forever True; the True Lord is pleasing to my mind. ||2||
ਨਵੇ ਛਿਦ੍ਰ ਸ੍ਰਵਹਿ ਅਪਵਿਤ੍ਰਾ ॥
nave chhidhr sraveh apavitraa ||
The nine holes pour out filth.
ਬੋਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਸਭਿ ਕਿਤਾ ॥
bol har naam pavitr sabh kitaa ||
Chanting the Lord's Name, they are all purified and sanctified.
ਜੇ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਮਲੁ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਵੈ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
je har suprasa(n)n hovai meraa suaamee har simarat mal leh jaavai jeeau ||3||
When my Lord and Master is totally pleased, He leads the mortal to meditate in remembrance on the Lord, and then his filth is taken away. ||3||
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਰੀ ॥
maiaa moh bikham hai bhaaree ||
Attachment to Maya is terribly treacherous.
ਕਿਉ ਤਰੀਐ ਦੁਤਰੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ॥
kiau tareeaai dhutar sa(n)saaree ||
How can one cross over the difficult world-ocean?
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਬੋਹਿਥੁ ਦੇਇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਲੰਘਾਵੈ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥
satigur bohith dhei prabh saachaa jap har har paar la(n)ghaavai jeeau ||4||
The True Lord bestows the boat of the True Guru; meditating on the Lord, Har, Har, one is carried across. ||4||
ਤੂ ਸਰਬਤ੍ਰ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਈ ॥
too sarabatr teraa sabh koiee ||
You are everywhere; all are Yours.
ਜੋ ਤੂ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੋਈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਹੋਈ ॥
jo too kareh soiee prabh hoiee ||
Whatever You do, God, that alone comes to pass.
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਬੇਚਾਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਥਾਇ ਪਾਵੈ ਜੀਉ ॥੫॥੧॥੭॥
jan naanak gun gaavai bechaaraa har bhaavai har thai paavai jeeau ||5||1||7||
Poor servant Nanak sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord; as it pleases the Lord, He bestows His approval. ||5||1||7||
ਮਾਰੂ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥
maaroo mahalaa chauthhaa ||
Maaroo, Fourth Mehla:
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ॥
har har naam japahu man mere ||
Chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, O my mind.
ਸਭਿ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਕਾਟੈ ਹਰਿ ਤੇਰੇ ॥
sabh kilavikh kaaTai har tere ||
The Lord shall eradicate all your sins.
ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਚਲਦਿਆ ਨਾਲਿ ਸਖਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
har dhan raakhahu har dhan sa(n)chahu har chaladhiaa naal sakhaiee jeeau ||1||
Treasure the Lord's wealth, and gather in the Lord's wealth; when you depart in the end, the Lord shall go along with you as your only friend and companion. ||1||
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੋ ਧਿਆਵੈ ॥
jis no kirapaa kare so dhiaavai ||
He alone meditates on the Lord, unto whom He grants His Grace.
ਨਿਤ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੁ ਜਾਪੈ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
nit har jap jaapai jap har sukh paavai ||
He continually chants the Lord's Chant; meditating on the Lord, one finds peace.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਆਵੈ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਲੰਘਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur parasaadhee har ras aavai jap har har paar la(n)ghaiee jeeau ||1|| rahaau ||
By Guru's Grace, the sublime essence of the Lord is obtained. Meditating on the Lord, Har, Har, one is carried across. ||1||Pause||
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ਸਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
nirabhau nira(n)kaar sat naam ||
The fearless, formless Lord - the Name is Truth.
ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਸ੍ਰੇਸਟੁ ਊਤਮ ਕਾਮੁ ॥
jag meh sresaT uootam kaam ||
To chant it is the most sublime and exalted activity in this world.
ਦੁਸਮਨ ਦੂਤ ਜਮਕਾਲੁ ਠੇਹ ਮਾਰਉ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
dhusaman dhoot jamakaal Theh maarau har sevak neR na jaiee jeeau ||2||
Doing so, the Messenger of Death, the evil enemy, is killed. Death does not even approach the Lord's servant. ||2||
ਜਿਸੁ ਉਪਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥
jis upar har kaa man maaniaa ||
One whose mind is satisfied with the Lord
ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਚਹੁ ਜੁਗ ਚਹੁ ਕੁੰਟ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥
so sevak chahu jug chahu ku(n)T jaaniaa ||
that servant is known throughout the four ages, in all four directions.
ਜੇ ਉਸ ਕਾ ਬੁਰਾ ਕਹੈ ਕੋਈ ਪਾਪੀ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਮਕੰਕਰੁ ਖਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
je us kaa buraa kahai koiee paapee tis jamaka(n)kar khaiee jeeau ||3||
If some sinner speaks evil of him, the Messenger of Death chews him up. ||3||
ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਏਕੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਕਰਤਾ ॥
sabh meh ek nira(n)jan karataa ||
The One Pure Creator Lord is in all.
ਸਭਿ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਅਪਣੇ ਚਲਤਾ ॥
sabh kar kar vekhai apane chalataa ||
He stages all His wondrous plays, and watches them.
ਜਿਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਉਣੁ ਮਾਰੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪਿ ਛਡਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥
jis har raakhai tis kaun maarai jis karataa aap chhaddaiee jeeau ||4||
Who can kill that person, whom the Lord has saved? The Creator Lord Himself delivers him. ||4||
ਹਉ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਲਈ ਕਰਤਾਰੇ ॥
hau anadhin naam liee karataare ||
I chant the Name of the Creator Lord, night and day.
ਜਿਨਿ ਸੇਵਕ ਭਗਤ ਸਭੇ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥
jin sevak bhagat sabhe nisataare ||
He saves all His servants and devotees.
ਦਸ ਅਠ ਚਾਰਿ ਵੇਦ ਸਭਿ ਪੂਛਹੁ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਛਡਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੫॥੨॥੮॥
dhas aTh chaar vedh sabh poochhahu jan naanak naam chhaddaiee jeeau ||5||2||8||
Consult the eighteen Puraanas and the four Vedas; O servant Nanak, only the Naam, the Name of the Lord, will deliver you. ||5||2||8||
ਮਾਰੂ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ਘਰੁ ੨
maaroo mahalaa panjavaa ghar doojaa
Maaroo, Fifth Mehla, Second House:
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ikOankaar satigur prasaadh ||
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਡਰਪੈ ਧਰਤਿ ਅਕਾਸੁ ਨਖੵਤ੍ਰਾ ਸਿਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਅਮਰੁ ਕਰਾਰਾ ॥
ddarapai dharat akaas nakhayetraa sir uoopar amar karaaraa ||
The earth, the Akaashic ethers and the stars abide in the Fear of God. The almighty Order of the Lord is over the heads of all.
ਪਉਣੁ ਪਾਣੀ ਬੈਸੰਤਰੁ ਡਰਪੈ ਡਰਪੈ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੁ ਬਿਚਾਰਾ ॥੧॥
paun paanee baisa(n)tar ddarapai ddarapai i(n)dhr bichaaraa ||1||
Wind, water and fire abide in the Fear of God; poor Indra abides in the Fear of God as well. ||1||
ਏਕਾ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਬਾਤ ਸੁਨੀ ॥
ekaa nirabhau baat sunee ||
I have heard one thing, that the One Lord alone is fearless.
ਸੋ ਸੁਖੀਆ ਸੋ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ਜੋ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਗਾਇ ਗੁਨੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
so sukheeaa so sadhaa suhelaa jo gur mil gai gunee ||1|| rahaau ||
He alone is at peace, and he alone is embellished forever, who meets with the Guru, and sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਦੇਹਧਾਰ ਅਰੁ ਦੇਵਾ ਡਰਪਹਿ ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਡਰਿ ਮੁਇਆ ॥
dhehadhaar ar dhevaa ddarapeh sidh saadhik ddar muiaa ||
The embodied and the divine beings abide in the Fear of God. The Siddhas and seekers die in the Fear of God.
ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਮਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਜਨਮੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੋਨੀ ਜੋਇਆ ॥੨॥
lakh chauraaseeh mar mar janame fir fir jonee joiaa ||2||
The 8.4 millions species of beings die and die, being born over and over again. They are consigned to reincarnation. ||2||
