ਸਭਿ ਜੀਅ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੂ ਸਭਸ ਦਾ ਤੂ ਸਭ ਛਡਾਹੀ ॥੪॥
sabh jeea tere too sabhas dhaa too sabh chhaddaahee ||4||
All beings are Yours; You belong to all. You deliver all. ||4||

Shalok, Fourth Mehla:
ਸੁਣਿ ਸਾਜਨ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਸੰਦੇਸਰਾ ਅਖੀ ਤਾਰ ਲਗੰਨਿ ॥
sun saajan prem sa(n)dhesaraa akhee taar laga(n)n ||
Listen, O my Friend, to my message of love; my eyes are fixed upon You.
ਗੁਰਿ ਤੁਠੈ ਸਜਣੁ ਮੇਲਿਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖਿ ਸਵੰਨਿ ॥੧॥
gur tuThai sajan meliaa jan naanak sukh sava(n)n ||1||
The Guru was pleased - He united servant Nanak with his friend, and now he sleeps in peace. ||1||

Fourth Mehla:
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਦਇਆ ਸਦਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
satigur dhaataa dhiaal hai jis no dhiaa sadhaa hoi ||
The True Guru is the Merciful Giver; He is always compassionate.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਅੰਦਰਹੁ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਹੈ ਸਭੁ ਦੇਖੈ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਇਕੁ ਸੋਇ ॥
satigur a(n)dharahu niravair hai sabh dhekhai braham ik soi ||
The True Guru has no hatred within Him; He beholds the One God everywhere.
ਨਿਰਵੈਰਾ ਨਾਲਿ ਜਿ ਵੈਰੁ ਚਲਾਇਦੇ ਤਿਨ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਤਿਸਟਿਆ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
niravairaa naal j vair chalaidhe tin vichahu tisaTiaa na koi ||
Anyone who directs hate against the One who has no hate, shall never be satisfied within.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਭਨਾ ਦਾ ਭਲਾ ਮਨਾਇਦਾ ਤਿਸ ਦਾ ਬੁਰਾ ਕਿਉ ਹੋਇ ॥
satigur sabhanaa dhaa bhalaa manaidhaa tis dhaa buraa kiau hoi ||
The True Guru wishes everyone well; how can anything bad happen to Him?
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨੋ ਜੇਹਾ ਕੋ ਇਛਦਾ ਤੇਹਾ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਏ ਕੋਇ ॥
satigur no jehaa ko ichhadhaa tehaa fal paae koi ||
As one feels towards the True Guru, so are the rewards he receives.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਰਤਾ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਜਿਦੂ ਕਿਛੁ ਗੁਝਾ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
naanak karataa sabh kichh jaanadhaa jidhoo kichh gujhaa na hoi ||2||
O Nanak, the Creator knows everything; nothing can be hidden from Him. ||2||

Pauree:
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਵਡਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੋਈ ਵਡ ਜਾਣੀ ॥
jis no saahib vaddaa kare soiee vadd jaanee ||
One who has been made great by his Lord and Master - know him to be great!
ਜਿਸੁ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਖਸਿ ਲਏ ਸੋ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਣੀ ॥
jis saahib bhaavai tis bakhas le so saahib man bhaanee ||
By His Pleasure, the Lord and Master forgives those who are pleasing to His Mind.
ਜੇ ਕੋ ਓਸ ਦੀ ਰੀਸ ਕਰੇ ਸੋ ਮੂੜ ਅਜਾਣੀ ॥
je ko os dhee rees kare so mooR ajaanee ||
One who tries to compete with Him is a senseless fool.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲੇ ਸੁ ਗੁਣ ਰਵੈ ਗੁਣ ਆਖਿ ਵਖਾਣੀ ॥
jis no satigur mele su gun ravai gun aakh vakhaanee ||
One who is united with the Lord by the True Guru, sings His Praises and speaks His Glories.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚਾ ਸਚੁ ਹੈ ਬੁਝਿ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥੫॥
naanak sachaa sach hai bujh sach samaanee ||5||
O Nanak, the True Lord is True; one who understands Him is absorbed in Truth. ||5||
ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੪ ॥

Shalok, Fourth Mehla:
ਹਰਿ ਸਤਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਅਮਰੁ ਹੈ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ॥
har sat nira(n)jan amar hai nirabhau niravair nira(n)kaar ||
The Lord is true, immaculate and eternal; He has no fear, hatred or form.
ਜਿਨ ਜਪਿਆ ਇਕ ਮਨਿ ਇਕ ਚਿਤਿ ਤਿਨ ਲਥਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਭਾਰੁ ॥
jin japiaa ik man ik chit tin lathaa haumai bhaar ||
Those who chant and meditate on Him, who single-mindedly focus their consciousness on Him, are rid of the burden of their ego.
ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਰਾਧਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਜੈਕਾਰੁ ॥
jin gurmukh har aaraadhiaa tin sa(n)t janaa jaikaar ||
Those Gurmukhs who worship and adore the Lord - hail to those Saintly beings!
ਕੋਈ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੀ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਫਿਟੁ ਫਿਟੁ ਕਹੈ ਸਭੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
koiee ni(n)dhaa kare poore satiguroo kee tis no fiT fiT kahai sabh sa(n)saar ||
If someone slanders the Perfect True Guru, he will be rebuked and reproached by the whole world.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਿਚਿ ਆਪਿ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਰਖਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
satigur vich aap varatadhaa har aape rakhanahaar ||
The Lord Himself abides within the True Guru; He Himself is His Protector.
ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਦਾ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਨਮਸਕਾਰੁ ॥
dhan dha(n)n guroo gun gaavadhaa tis no sadhaa sadhaa namasakaar ||
Blessed, Blessed is the Guru, who sings the Glories of God. Unto Him, I bow forever and ever in deepest reverence.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਜਿਨ ਜਪਿਆ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
jan naanak tin kau vaariaa jin japiaa sirajanahaar ||1||
Servant Nanak is a sacrifice to those who have meditated on the Creator Lord. ||1||

Fourth Mehla:
ਆਪੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਸਾਜੀਅਨੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਕਾਸੁ ॥
aape dharatee saajeean aape aakaas ||
He Himself made the earth; He Himself made the sky.
ਵਿਚਿ ਆਪੇ ਜੰਤ ਉਪਾਇਅਨੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਇ ਗਿਰਾਸੁ ॥
vich aape ja(n)t upaian mukh aape dhei giraas ||
He Himself created the beings there, and He Himself places food in their mouths.
ਸਭੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਗੁਣਤਾਸੁ ॥
sabh aape aap varatadhaa aape hee gunataas ||
He Himself is All-pervading; He Himself is the Treasure of Excellence.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਤੂ ਸਭਿ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਕਟੇ ਤਾਸੁ ॥੨॥
jan naanak naam dhiaai too sabh kilavikh kaTe taas ||2||
O servant Nanak, meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord; He shall take away all your sinful mistakes. ||2||

Pauree:
ਤੂ ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਚੁ ਹੈ ਸਚੁ ਸਚੇ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
too sachaa saahib sach hai sach sache bhaavai ||
You, O True Lord and Master, are True; the Truth is pleasing to the True One.
ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਸਚੁ ਸਲਾਹਦੇ ਤਿਨ ਜਮ ਕੰਕਰੁ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
jo tudh sach salaahadhe tin jam ka(n)kar neR na aavai ||
The Messenger of Death does not even approach those who praise You, O True Lord.
ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਮੁਖ ਦਰਿ ਉਜਲੇ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਸਚਾ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
tin ke mukh dhar ujale jin har hiradhai sachaa bhaavai ||
Their faces are radiant in the Court of the Lord; the Lord is pleasing to their hearts.
ਕੂੜਿਆਰ ਪਿਛਾਹਾ ਸਟੀਅਨਿ ਕੂੜੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਕਪਟੁ ਮਹਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
kooRiaar pichhaahaa saTeean kooR hiradhai kapaT mahaa dhukh paavai ||
The false ones are left behind; because of the falsehood and deceit in their hearts, they suffer in terrible pain.
ਮੁਹ ਕਾਲੇ ਕੂੜਿਆਰੀਆ ਕੂੜਿਆਰ ਕੂੜੋ ਹੋਇ ਜਾਵੈ ॥੬॥
muh kaale kooRiaareeaa kooRiaar kooRo hoi jaavai ||6||
Black are the faces of the false; the false remain just false. ||6||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਧਰਤੀ ਧਰਮ ਹੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਵਿਚਿ ਜੇਹਾ ਕੋ ਬੀਜੇ ਤੇਹਾ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
satigur dharatee dharam hai tis vich jehaa ko beeje tehaa fal paae ||
The True Guru is the field of Dharma; as one plants the seeds there, so are the fruits obtained.
ਗੁਰਸਿਖੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਬੀਜਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਫਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਏ ॥
gursikhee a(n)mrit beejiaa tin a(n)mirat fal har paae ||
The GurSikhs plant ambrosial nectar, and obtain the Lord as their ambrosial fruit.
ਓਨਾ ਹਲਤਿ ਪਲਤਿ ਮੁਖ ਉਜਲੇ ਓਇ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਸਚੀ ਪੈਨਾਏ ॥
onaa halat palat mukh ujale oi har dharageh sachee painaae ||
Their faces are radiant in this world and the next; in the Court of the Lord, they are robed with honor.
ਇਕਨੑਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਖੋਟੁ ਨਿਤ ਖੋਟੁ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਓਹੁ ਜੇਹਾ ਬੀਜੇ ਤੇਹਾ ਫਲੁ ਖਾਏ ॥
eikan(h)aa a(n)dhar khoT nit khoT kamaaveh oh jehaa beeje tehaa fal khaae ||
Some have cruelty in their hearts - they constantly act in cruelty; as they plant, so are the fruits which they eat.
