ਏਹਾ ਭਗਤਿ ਜਨੁ ਜੀਵਤ ਮਰੈ ॥
ehaa bhagat jan jeevat marai ||
True Devotion is to remain dead while yet alive.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਤਰੈ ॥
gur parasaadhee bhavajal tarai ||
By Guru's Grace, one crosses over the terrible world-ocean.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਬਚਨਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਥਾਇ ਪਾਇ ॥
gur kai bachan bhagat thai pai ||
Through the Guru's Teachings, one's devotion is accepted,
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਆਪਿ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥੪॥
har jeeau aap vasai man aai ||4||
and then, the Dear Lord Himself comes to dwell in the mind. ||4||
ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥
har kirapaa kare satiguroo milaae ||
When the Lord bestows His Mercy, He leads us to meet the True Guru.
ਨਿਹਚਲ ਭਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ ॥
nihachal bhagat har siau chit laae ||
Then, one's devotion becomes steady, and the consciousness is centered upon the Lord.
ਭਗਤਿ ਰਤੇ ਤਿਨੑ ਸਚੀ ਸੋਇ ॥
bhagat rate tin(h) sachee soi ||
Those who are imbued with Devotion have truthful reputations.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੫॥੧੨॥੫੧॥
naanak naam rate sukh hoi ||5||12||51||
O Nanak, imbued with the Naam, the Name of the Lord, peace is obtained. ||5||12||51||
ਆਸਾ ਘਰੁ ੮ ਕਾਫੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੩
aasaa ghar atthvaa kaafee mahalaa teejaa
Aasaa, Eighth House, Kaafee, Third Mehla:
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ikOankaar satigur prasaadh ||
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਝੀ ਹੋਈ ॥
har kai bhaanai satigur milai sach sojhee hoiee ||
By the Pleasure of the Lord's Will, one meets the True Guru, and true understanding is obtained.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਹਰਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਸੋਈ ॥੧॥
gur parasaadhee man vasai har boojhai soiee ||1||
By Guru's Grace, the Lord abides in the mind, and one comes to understand the Lord. ||1||
ਮੈ ਸਹੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਏਕੁ ਹੈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਈ ॥
mai sahu dhaataa ek hai avar naahee koiee ||
My Husband Lord, the Great Giver, is One. There is no other at all.
ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਤਾ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur kirapaa te man vasai taa sadhaa sukh hoiee ||1|| rahaau ||
By Guru's merciful favor, He abides in the mind, and then, a lasting peace ensues. ||1||Pause||
ਇਸੁ ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਪਾਈਐ ਗੁਰ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
eis jug meh nirabhau har naam hai paieeaai gur veechaar ||
In this age, the Lord's Name is fearless; it is obtained by meditative reflection upon the Guru.
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਜਮ ਕੈ ਵਸਿ ਹੈ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਧ ਗਵਾਰਿ ॥੨॥
bin naavai jam kai vas hai manmukh a(n)dh gavaar ||2||
Without the Name, the blind, foolish, self-willed manmukh is under Death's power. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਜਨੁ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੈ ਬੂਝੈ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਈ ॥
har kai bhaanai jan sevaa karai boojhai sach soiee ||
By the Pleasure of the Lord's Will, the humble being performs His service, and understands the True Lord.
ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਸਾਲਾਹੀਐ ਭਾਣੈ ਮੰਨਿਐ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ॥੩॥
har kai bhaanai saalaaheeaai bhaanai ma(n)niaai sukh hoiee ||3||
By the Pleasure of the Lord's Will, He is to be praised; surrendering to His Will, peace ensues. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਜਨਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਮਤਿ ਊਤਮ ਹੋਈ ॥
har kai bhaanai janam padhaarath paiaa mat uootam hoiee ||
By the Pleasure of the Lord's Will, the prize of this human birth is obtained, and the intellect is exalted.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹਿ ਤੂੰ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਈ ॥੪॥੩੯॥੧੩॥੫੨॥
naanak naam salaeh too(n) gurmukh gat hoiee ||4||39||13||52||
O Nanak, praise the Naam, the Name of the Lord; as Gurmukh, you shall be emancipated. ||4||39||13||52||
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ਘਰੁ ੨
aasaa mahalaa chauthhaa ghar doojaa
Aasaa, Fourth Mehla, Second House:
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ikOankaar satigur prasaadh ||
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਤੂੰ ਕਰਤਾ ਸਚਿਆਰੁ ਮੈਡਾ ਸਾਂਈ ॥
too(n) karataa sachiaar maiddaa saa(n)iee ||
You are the True Creator, my Lord Master.
ਜੋ ਤਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਥੀਸੀ ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਦੇਹਿ ਸੋਈ ਹਉ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jo tau bhaavai soiee theesee jo too(n) dheh soiee hau paiee ||1|| rahaau ||
That which is pleasing to Your Will, comes to pass. Whatever You give, that is what I receive. ||1||Pause||
ਸਭ ਤੇਰੀ ਤੂੰ ਸਭਨੀ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
sabh teree too(n) sabhanee dhiaaiaa ||
All are Yours; all meditate on You.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਤਿਨਿ ਨਾਮ ਰਤਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
jis no kirapaa kareh tin naam ratan paiaa ||
He alone, whom You bless with Your Mercy, obtains the jewel of the Naam.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਧਾ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥
gurmukh laadhaa manmukh gavaiaa ||
The Gurmukhs obtain it, and the self-willed manmukhs lose it.
ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪਿ ਵਿਛੋੜਿਆ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
tudh aap vichhoRiaa aap milaiaa ||1||
You Yourself separate the mortals, and You Yourself unite them. ||1||
ਤੂੰ ਦਰੀਆਉ ਸਭ ਤੁਝ ਹੀ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
too(n) dhareeaau sabh tujh hee maeh ||
You are the River - all are within You.
ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
tujh bin dhoojaa koiee naeh ||
Other than You, there is no one at all.
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਖੇਲੁ ॥
jeea ja(n)t sabh teraa khel ||
All beings and creatures are your play-things.
ਵਿਜੋਗਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਵਿਛੁੜਿਆ ਸੰਜੋਗੀ ਮੇਲੁ ॥੨॥
vijog mil vichhuRiaa sa(n)jogee mel ||2||
The united ones are separated, and the separated ones are re-united. ||2||
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤੂ ਜਾਣਾਇਹਿ ਸੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
jis no too jaanaieh soiee jan jaanai ||
That humble being, whom You inspire to understand, understands;
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਆਖਿ ਵਖਾਣੈ ॥
har gun sadh hee aakh vakhaanai ||
he continually speaks and chants the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
jin har seviaa tin sukh paiaa ||
One who serves the Lord, obtains peace.
ਸਹਜੇ ਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
sahaje hee har naam samaiaa ||3||
He is easily absorbed in the Lord's Name. ||3||
ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਕੀਆ ਸਭੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
too aape karataa teraa keeaa sabh hoi ||
You Yourself are the Creator; by Your doing, all things come to be.
ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
tudh bin dhoojaa avar na koi ||
Without You, there is no other at all.
ਤੂ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖਹਿ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਸੋਇ ॥
too kar kar vekheh jaaneh soi ||
You watch over the creation, and understand it.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥੧॥੫੩॥
jan naanak gurmukh paragaT hoi ||4||1||53||
O servant Nanak, the Lord is revealed to the Gurmukh. ||4||1||53||
