Shaheedi Week 2026 — Chaar Sahibzaade

Late December is when many sangats remember the 1704–05 shaheedi of the four Sahibzade — the sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji — and Mata Gujri Ji. This page uses the SGPC / Akal Takht dates published by SikhNet for Nanakshahi Samat 558. It does not invent a single official “week” name; it lists the dated events that fall in that period.

21–27 December 2026 covers the leaving of Anandpur Sahib (21 Dec) through Chamkaur (23 Dec). The younger Sahibzade and Mata Gujri Ji are listed on 28 December, which most Fatehgarh Sahib remembrances include in the same period.

What the week remembers

In December 1704 the Khalsa left Anandpur Sahib Fort after a long siege. The family was separated at the Sarsa. At Chamkaur, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Ji and Sahibzada Jujhar Singh Ji were killed in battle. The younger Sahibzade — Zorawar Singh Ji and Fateh Singh Ji — were taken to Sirhind with Mata Gujri Ji and were executed after refusing to convert. Mata Gujri Ji died in confinement at the Thanda Burj.

Those events are why Fatehgarh Sahib and Chamkaur Sahib fill in late December. Local gurdwaras hold kirtan, katha, and often an Akhand Paath. This directory does not set those hours.

Not the same as 14 December

Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji’s Shaheedi Divas is Monday, 14 December 2026 (29 Maghar) on the same SikhNet calendar. It remembers the ninth Guru in Delhi in 1675. Mixing that date into “Shaheedi Week” would be wrong.

Shaheedi Week questions

›When is Shaheedi Week 2026?
